I'm in a group that's reading Book4 of Vergil's Aeneid in the original Latin, which is the tragic love story of Aeneas and Dido. We're analyzing the Latin poetry very carefully, and the more we understand it, the deeper the tragedy becomes. I'm constantly wishing that Dido would take back her power and not let her love for Aeneas destroy her, so I'm very interested in this project.

Complete passion. Violent sublime beauty. Amazing. Beethoven knew. This is so far my favorite rendition of the Grosse Fuge.

Stumbled upon this by "fluke" (that algorithm... hehe), and boy oh boy! LOVED IT! Excellent and inspiring vulgarization. Truly makes me want to do the same kind of thing in Haitian Creole to bring these genius composers' works to the less-fortunate.

One thing I desperately love about this performance is all the guts & violence expressed so dramatically. Although the silence in between the notes are off, but that’s completely normal because nobody could do it just like Beethoven himself would.

Igor Stravinsky said "An absolutely contemporary piece of music that will be contemporary" Oskar Kokoshka wrote to Arnold Schoenberg:"Your cradle was Beethoven's Grosse Fuge," Glenn Gould said "for me, the 'Grosse Fuge' is not only the greatest work Beethoven ever wrote but just about the most astonishing piece in musical literature." Musicologist Leonard Ratner wrote: "More than anything else in music... it justifies the ways of God to men." I have no more to say.
