  • Thyroid Cancer is more prevalent than ever affecting more than 60,000 people last year and the numbers continue to grow. Despite recent advances in cancer treatments, the prevalence of Thyroid cancer continues to grow year after year. Radioactive Iodine has long been used as a therapy as well as a diagnostic tool for Thyroid disease. Adding Radioactive Iodine therapy to your treatment of Thyroid Cancer can improve your post surgery outcomes, typically without significant side effects. We'll be talking to experts in nuclear medicine and learn more about what is being referred to as the “magic bullet” of treatment options.

I was given massive doses of x - ray (radiation treatment) as a baby. It was the standard treatment for babies in the 50's with enlarged Thymus glands (chokes the baby). I am awaiting the test results and fear the worst as most all later get Thyroid cancer. I live alone now and can't imagine going through anything without care.... sorry for all have this.

Please turn to Jesus He loves you very much, i was ill for many years but the doctors couldn't really help me, i don't blame them, there was only so much that they could of done for me, Then Jesus gave me a miracle and healed me, He is the God of miracles, God has done amazing things in my life and in the life's of my family, He can do the same for you and yours, When you need Him call on Him, He is the God of comfort and will there for you when you call on Him, The bible tells us in Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved, God saved someone i love from an illness leading to death, There is nothing impossible to God, It's as simple as asking Jesus into your heart and life to be your personal Lord and Saviour, confess your sins to Jesus, and Jesus will for give you, If you truly seek Him, Jesus will answer you, i know this because He answered me when i called out to Him

Radioactive Iodine has a possibility of causing Blood Cancers. Four years after receiving radioactive iodine, I was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia. The treatment isn’t so bad, I remember being nauseous and having to abstain from salt. Including quarantine for about a week or so. Knowing what I know now, I wouldn’t have taken radioactive iodine. Hope this helps, and hope your mom’s health continues to improve.

I had thyroid cancer and doctors scared me that I need urgent treatment. This was their money making trick.
I feel cheated because I did not have any lump and was perfectly enjoying life.
Please save urself from doctors cruelty. U might realise how devil they are once they are done with their business.
Thyroid is an endocrine gland. It’s very important for whole body function. Tablet can’t do what ur gland can do. Also ur whole body gets suffered with surgery side effects.
I am facing- constipated, hearing loss, hot flashes, hair loss, heart palpitations while playing badminton, Depression, body becomes incapable of maintaining natural body temperature due to which u feel very cold and very hot 🥵
Thyroid cancer is curable easily if it’s papillary cancer or 2 other types. With vegan diet , vegetables juices, nuts seeds ,feeling stronger , meditating on every cell in ur body that it is happy etc
Some doctors are making people get thyroid function test if they have lump in their neck. Lumps means u do vegan diet, and not surgery unless the lump is visible or u r facing any other issue.
Thyroid cancer need not need any surgery. Check CZcams many people have cured cancer just with diet.

Ok kiddo, listen up. First of all, if you haven't been diagnosed yet, do not panic. Go see your physician, and do the test, but no need to stress beforehand. Your thyorid is very sensitive to the stress levels your are subject to, so panicking about it is not the thing to do :). Then, if you do have this cancer, then you have the best treated cancer the human species endures, so again, relax. It's not pleasant, but it's okay, you can get through this.

Don't worry too much about it! Fortunately, papillary thyroid cancer is the most common and one of the least aggressive cancers. And I am assuming that is the kind your mom has. She will just have to go through surgery, which is surprisingly not that bad, I was at home a few hours later after my first thyroid surgery. Then, a few weeks or months later, she might need the radioactive iodine treatment. This is simply taking a pill and just stay isolated for a few days to be sure that you and your family are not exposed to radiation. After that, she will be OK! I know the word "cancer" is scary, but fortunately thyroid cancer is really easy to treat and extremely likely to survive.

      @@imissedthejoke1276
TL;DR: Salt plays a huge role in maintaining blood pressure. Thyroid hormone directly affects kidney function. Hyperthyroidism is too much thyroid hormone. Too much salt + hyperthyroidism = kidneys not being able to filter blood bc there’s not enough recleaning toxin and blood is too thick due to water retention caused by salt.
Before anyone reads this, pls know I am not a doctor nor am I trying to sound like or claim to be one. However, I am a third year nursing student who has taken about 7 A&P related classes so I would kinda hope I know a little bit about what I’m taking about. Feel free to correct me if I’m completely wrong though. Also, whenever I say ‘salt’ I mean iodized salt.
I know this is super late but the reason why people with hyperthyroidism are suggested to avoid salt is bc thyroid hormone (TH) has a direct correlation with the kidneys. TH affects both renal (kidney) morphology and function. Too much TH (the product of hyperthyroidism) can result in the kidneys having a reduced rate of recleaning toxins i.e. the chemical that helps filter your blood. Not enough recleaning toxins means your blood can become thick leading to blood pressure issues.
Now I know your asking: what the hell does this have to do with salt? Well, salt plays such a big role with the homeostasis of water in the body. Too much salt equals more water retained in the blood. So, for a patient with hyperthyroidism, not only are their kidneys suffering with deficient levels of recleaning toxins but if too much salt is in their diet, they can also be dealing with high blood pressure due to water retention. Your kidneys are basically put into overdrive and it could seriously damage them if it happens over a long period of time.
