I would be interested to see how a used ThinkPad will fare against this MacBook in the same price range.
I think the ThinkPad T480 or T470 will cost as much.
Do consider this as a future video idea.
Yes a refurbished ThinkPad would also be a good choice as well, some good models were available at ~30k

Started facing issues with battery, charger, display IC changed few times!
Now i use it as PC with no battery and directly connected to adapter
T470 costs 10k less in second hand market

All authorized Apple retailers like service centers use the same 2017 MAcBook Air. It's definitely useable. If someone really wants the latest MacOS Sonoma, they can create a bootable USB and install that as well.
I own a second hand HP Elitebook i7 7gen (2016-17) and it has all the features we expect today. Type C port, Touchscreen, HD resolution, good display, although average speakers as most Windows laptops have, 4-5 hours battery life (not too bad😅), it can do light tasks easily as per as 8GB RAM and 512 GB SSD. I got it for ₹26000 only. The battery was not much used and the laptop condition was good. Maybe I got a good deal, I think, after watching this.

I too got elitebook x360 i5 8th gen with 16 GB RAM but 256 GB SSD equipped with brand new display panel for 28000 rs from second hand market. It also somehow has factory warranty till 2026. Great deal, I guess.

I too got a dell G3 with i5 10300h , gtx 1650, 256gb sss, 16gb ram with 1 year official warranty left for 25k.
The meaning of refurbished product means it has been cleaned, battery has been changed and has been brought to a new condition as much as possible. If it sold in the condition you have it is just resold and it is not a refurb product.
Meaning: refurbished laptops are used machines that have been repaired, upgraded, and cleaned for the purpose of reselling
If you have to go on refurbished path, you can consider windows side too? Like you can easily get 3-4 year old working laptop with SSD and better specs for the same price... I think comparing refurbished windows laptop vs refurbished MacBook would have been way better...
Good one .. I also still use my 2012 macbook pro as my secondary laptop and my son's school assignments. It still works better than many low budget windows laptop. have also installed windows on it through boot camp assistant. And other plus point is that it has CD/DVD drive .. which is like stone age stuff for current generation !

For 25k, if you can buy a MacBook, you can definitely buy a windows machine where you can upgrade your ram and ssd plus you can install Linux onto it. Ik Linux can be installed on macs as well but you cannot upgrade your ram/ssd/wifi card down the line. Also, you can very easily upgrade the battery of a windows machine
Bro actually on paper Linux seems to be a very good idea but in real life there are lot of issues in daily use case scenerios

@@GadgetFreek obviously, if you choose arch as your beginner distro, you will always have some broken packages. There exists a class of distros known as "just works" or "beginner distros"(for eg, fedora 39, pop! OS, kde neon,etc). Give them a try in virtual box.

OLCP works perfectly on this MBA 2017 and Sonoma is fairly smooth as well!
This is a very honest review for a 2017 MacBook Air, I have it and all the problems are same i.e battery life, update, heating of the laptop, display is 1440 x 900 only etc. other than that all fine

The one thing you say the charging/batteryi Indiacator on windows laptop are on side are bad and not useful but I think its useful because while you plugin the charger while working you actually watching the screen and the screen it self shows it that you just plugged in and if you also want to check it back letter that its charging or not then in bottom taskbar there is a battery icon which shows the plug, So that you can be sure that ya its charging and rest apart the use of lights on side where when you keep the laptop inside the laptop bag you can be sure that the laptop is still on or not without even taking out the laptop.

There are lot of shops selling used mnc laptops , dell latitudes, hp, thinkpads , macbooks and all under 25k , you can find something modern with better aesthetic, slim bezels as well for same budget.
Also shopkeepers ensure you get a properly clean laptop which almost looks like new

Speaking of the battery, there is something wrong with the product that you received. I have been using 2017 MBA since 2018 and my battery life is around 8 hours depending on the usage.
Not gonna lie, the bezels are killing it for me 😬
If your budget is strictly under ₹25k, buy a Chromebook. That's what I'll do. The concerns you've mentioned are deal breakers for some people.
Just to make it clear: There are productivity tools that are available for Chromebooks like GIMP(Photoshop alternative) and Kdenlive(Premier Pro alternative) that can be used, and GIMP will work great on chromebooks of around ₹25k. If there are softwares like ide that you need or pc games, then increase your budget and get a windows laptop.

Get a 25-30k machine, and boot into a lightweight Linux distro like Debian. Enjoy.
I still use a 2012 macbook pro and this thing is a beast. Most of my work is done at home and I don't venture out with it a lot so the poor battery isn't an issue for me. And as for software updates, I use linux in it which in my experience runs a lot smoother than even mac os and updates are assured. 1080p video editing also works pretty good here

i don't think battery is a dealbreaker. Because as far as i know, most people use it plugged in only. But, if you're a person who carry around your lap a lot, then yeah, it is a dealbreaker.
I'd buy a refurbished laptop rather than a mac, upgrade to SSD reinstall rom it will work like a charm

Nowadays there a lot of laptop like infinix, wings and zebronics which gives i5 11 gen under 30 k in offer with 256 & 512 SSD. A lot of other features like 1080p resolution backlit keyboard, 65 watt type c charging. And also they are giving i3 10 gen and other i3 under 25 k in offers. And I have be using infinix i5 10th gen and it's performing well since last 2 years. And now I see price of these laptops are even below 30 k.
So I would recommend you guys testing out these inifinix, zebronics & wings laptop and share you opinion on it.
As lot of people are buying these laptop.
And indeed I am having good user experience till now but with minor hiccups, but that's manageable.
So a review on these laptops will quite generous.

Imma daily user of a M series MacBook and have used the M1 series Macbook as well, you'll be highly impressed plus the video editing work will be smoother (it will be even more smoother if you use FCP) plus the other digital marketing works would be handled by it like a breeze

8:07 Well, that's a case particularly to your unit. But an OG battery and lesser cycles would easily last more without needing to Shut Down the laptops as MacBooks don't really need to be shut down.

I tested same but there is huge difference in keyboard. HUGE.
Only thing to think about buying them is that if keyboard screws up then replacement will cost same price of that Mac! 25k. So be mindful and choose a Mac mini

You should have mentioned open core legacy patcher, it lets you install any modern mac os on this laptop. i am using this laptop as a secondary laptop with mac os sonoma
Trackpad multi finger gestures were available on my (30k) i3 3rd gen hp laptop from 2013 and on win 8/8.1. So every 2017 laptop should have had gestures.

you were LUCKY to get macbook honestly for under 25k, most people ARE NOT lucky in terms of 2nd hand market especially considering facts like scams .

The price here in the US on these has dropped to nearly half what you paid (if 25000 = $299 or so). I took a $150 one of these (same specs as yours), pulled the ssd, put in a $79 Samsung 990 EVO NVME plus adapter for $12, and the result is very nice indeed. VERY nice video you've done here.

Should I go for HP fq1089au, 5300u processor with IPS display (keyboard is relatively small), or Asus Go 14, 7320u processor with SVA display(keyboard is relatively small).
Casual use only, but sometimes use the laptop outside the web.
Which laptop should you choose?
Get the one with the better display and battery life. Perhaps, also see how the after sales service will be. Make a choice. Shouldn't be bad in either case.
Around 25-30K, Lenovo V15 AMD Ryzen 3 or the Acer Extensa Ryzen5 is a better option.
