Problematic Roller Coasters - Lost Coaster of Superstition Mountain - World's Weirdest Coaster

  • Lost Coaster of Superstition Mountain may just be the world's weirdest roller coaster. The attraction is a conversion of an old dark ride into a tight and compact wooden roller coaster! The experience the coaster delivers to riders is completely bizarre! But the ride also comes a long with a list of operational issues that we'll discuss in this video! No issues that pose any danger to riders of course but definitely some interesting stuff!
    Thank you Eiam Staples for making this video possible! Eiam is son of Gene Staples, the man who bought Indiana Beach when its prior operator went bankrupt. Give Eiam a follow on instagram! He has even more behind the scenes photos of Lost Coaster! - @stapleseiam

      Maybe pass this along: If they filled the car(s) metal tubing with molten lead.. it would add a pretty good amount of mass to the car(s). Simply drill a few small holes, and pour in, with a custom metal funnel. Weld any holes closed, and nobody would ever be the wiser.
      If there are places where bolts pass through, they could inject a high-temp material before and after the bolt areas, to prevent lead from traveling to those areas. That, or drill out the areas, and weld in metal pipe "spacer / bearing" pieces. (bolt pass throughs, similar to a welded-in nut, but without the threading)
      Another option, would be a 1" thick steel plate as an undercarriage riser, or under-seats platform mass, and or flooring riser mass.

    Ok, I had been thinking about adding Indiana Beach to my list of parks to eventually visit. This video not only put it on that list, but near the top of that list.
    That coaster is definitely a unique looking ride.
    Of course, the video isn't complete without a section about block zones.

  • @jordonfreeman166
    @jordonfreeman166 Před 3 lety +8

    If I worked at Indiana Beach, I’d talk to The Gravity Group about putting in another block zone before the elevator lift hill to run 3 trains and put drive tires in the places it tends to valley, that are activated by a system of sensors connected to timers that determine that the train is going slow enough to valley. If the train is going slow enough to valley, the drive tires are activated and push the train along.

      I'd love for any of the coasters at Indiana Beach to run more than one train at a time. All the coasters are running one train each right now (I was there about two weeks ago)

  • @freashapples
    @freashapples Před 3 lety +7

    On rollercoasters a block zone is a section of ride that only one train may occupy at a time. At the end of a block zone there is a method to stop the train, in case the block zone ahead is still occupied. This is the safety system that prevents rollercoaster trains from colliding with one another.

    I live in Chicago and even though we have for years had Six Flags Season Passes we have also gotten a couple times season passes for Indiana Beach because the rides there are so distinctive. For such a small park it has a great assortment of not only rides but coasters, all of which I have to say are good, not a stinker in the bunch. We drive 2 1/2 hours to get there and it's worth the weekend trip, at least a couple times a season. Like Six flags it only takes two trips to make the passes worth it.
    This was an excellent video, lots of things I did not know,
