Nah, cactus is the worst. At least gold magnet and plantern are good at what they do, even if you dont want to do it.
I disagree, gold magnet and marigold are never used, Atleast you need* cactus for one level

Spikerock actually tanks 9 hits from Zombonis, Catapults, and Gargantuars: it was reduced to 3 in PvZ2. It’s honestly an absurdly tough wall against them.
Also, Puff-Shroom is quite insane just for being a free, fast cooldown plant that can attack(at night). It’s a spammable nightmare at night and a spammable staller during the day.
Chomper actually has a really strong niche in Plants vs. Zombies speedrunning! Chomper's uniqueness comes from its recharge time- it's the only instant kill that's fast recharge. So the ideal way to use Chomper is actually just ignoring its chewing time all together, simply placing a new Chomper on or near a zombie you want dead. When used like this, it's actually a really really strong plant.

Bro doom-shroom is easily the best insta kill, even in day when it costs 200, it basically wipes out the entire screen which is totally worth 200 sun imo.

I refuse to believe this video is serious how do you rank coffee bean BELOW every other mushroom when most of their utility requires it. Doom shroom, ice shroom, and gloom shroom would be completely useless without it.

PVZ1 is a mess. Like world 4 only really has 2 good plants. That being magnet shroom and starfruit. Even then, Starfruit is mostly usuless on the roof anyway.
And I guess pumkin is usuable. So it seems that the fog plants get better as you go on. Sea shroom SUCKS and magnet shroom basicaly invalidates most zombies
