Yup that was The Beatles George Harrison,
Playing the 1st lead/the slide lead part.
Lee and Harrison collaborated a lot ..
    "Back in the Day"

This song was voted to be the greatest blues song ever written. Simply Awesome! Alvin has said he wanted to do this song harder but when George laid down the slide Alvin had to go another direction and became a lot more melodic and this is what it was. Alvin is the only guitarist to make a guitar really cry. You can hear it in this song.

The reason the song works so well is the contrast between the silky smooth sadness and melancholy of the first solo (and the acoustic plucking under the verses), and the unrestrained agony, pain, heartache and devastation that comes through in the second solo/outro. George plucks at your heartstrings and sets you up for a tearjerker. Then Alvin dives in from the opening note and just tears his heart open to pour it out on the stage.
There are plenty of shredders in this day and age, but none who can play with the emotion of the greats of my era (yeah, I wear the boomer label proudly)
