    Wow!!! Great look your lawn Dwayne. How many Sprinkles do you use in your backyard and front yard? I really enjoyed this video. Thanks!!👍😊🌳

      @dwaynesworldlawn  Pƙed 9 měsĂci +1

      I have 7 zone zones in the back for the lawn with 8 sprinklers for each zone. The front is only 1 zone with 7 or 8 as well. I have 1 additional zone in my backyard for my flower beds. So i guess that totals out to about 64 sprinklers for the lawn. I appreciate the compliment on the lawn. I may do a sprinkler video but it will be more of an overview video. đŸ‘đŸ»

    Thought on why the rye didn't germinate on the more heavily scalped areas... The seed being under the canopy of the slightly longer bermuda may have kept more moisture on the seed acting like a topdress would have, but because you didn't topdress (understandable, i wouldn't want to either lol) the areas where it was just seed on dirt possibly dried out, or got eaten by birds because they were more visible.

    Sooooo - Did you get the new mower? The Rye should be really popping about now. How does it look? How does it cut? Curious minds want to know!

      @@dwaynesworldlawn Thanks Dwayne! I wanted you to know that we are still interested and appreciate the great lawn care content you provide! Scalp is done here in the Brazos Valley of Texas but I used my John Deere 1025R with a 54 inch belly mower to do the really dirty work. It only has 25 hp but because it is a diesel it has plenty of torque and makes quick work of peeling back all of that dead grass. By using the discharge chute to direct the avalanche of cuttings, I managed to blow all of them to the edge of the surrounding woods. Unfortunately, I broke the spark plug wire on my Stihl BR-800 blower when I removed it to set the valves but I will re-set the spring clip and boot and then finish blowing the clippings into the wood soon. Your dry Pacific air has made its way into Texas and we are having wonderful spring temperatures here. low 50's at night and high 70's during the day! The Zoysia, Bermuda and St. Augustine are waking up quickly. Glad I got the pre-emergent down two weeks ago...

    You are going to love the ryegrass, it is the cheat code for lawns. It only gets better when it matures. It also fills in way more than you would think. Looking forward to your final results

    Another question I have is why kill it off when it should go dormant and the Bermuda kicks in in April to May from where I am located.
    Theory is the rye will go dormant, Bermuda comes in and then rye comes back in the fall.
    Thanks

      Just remembered I put some fall pre emergent down so I’ll have to wait until next fall
      lol
      What is your thoughts on the new Cali trimmers that came out?

    • @dwaynesworldlawn
      @dwaynesworldlawn  Pƙed 9 měsĂci

      Some people believe in your theory, where when heating up the rye will die off and Bermuda will come out and this may hold true for parts or even possibly most of the lawn. Although I’m far from being an expert but if herbicide timed at the right time of transition this will avoid what they refer to a clumping rye. Clumpy rye is very to kill and therefore the Bermuda will not thrive in these areas and will not look right from a appearance standpoint. Bermuda generally needs a good 4 to 5 months of the growing year to stay healthy. If rye stick around too long it pushes that window which isn’t good for Bermuda. I have also read that rye grass does have a chemical it releases that can harm the Bermuda which makes it harder to compete but Bermuda being Bermuda will ultimately win unless there is shade where the rye would do much better. Hope this helps explain why you should spray it out in the spring. đŸ‘đŸ»

    Looking good for the first go around! I always end up putting a light overseed about two weeks after to fill in spots that may have come in a little thin. I can’t wait to see your new Revolution! I just bought two Toro GM’s this past season so I think I’ll be content with those for a while, but the Revolution looks legit!

    Great stuff Dwayne. I have to say ur much braver than me on overseeding the Bermuda. I’ve been wanting to but I want to see how next year goes for you as far as weeds. What height are you mowing your rye? Keep the informative vids coming n good luck!

    • @dwaynesworldlawn
      @dwaynesworldlawn  Pƙed 9 měsĂci

      I have the height of cut at about an inch right now. I will prob drop to 3/4 but somewhere between 3/4 and 1 inch looks great with Rye. I don’t worry too much weeds and it’s because ultimately i am going to kill off the rye with celicus and or in combo with Celicus. The only reason for the addition of celcius is because of poa that will come up. Either way when spraying it out I’ll pretty much clear all the weed so the Bermuda can take over.
