    Thankyou for clarifying about the Ekeys! I wasn't going to buy this lock but thanks to you, it's helped me made the decision!

    You said the inside is large. How does it compare to August? I have ordered Kevo mostly because August looks so huge and seems to stick out like a sore thumb.

    It's my understanding that all internals are metal for this lock vs. August that is plastic ?

    "Works with many home automation platforms" yet you didn't mention, show or guide how to or which platforms. I have 2 Kwikset Kevo 2.0 and so far I know they dont work with Smartthings, or Google Home, or IFTTT. Limited with Alexa. What are the many automation platforms?

    I was debating back and forth between this or August. At this point I don’t think I’m going to be going with HomeKit. My power company has a deal with Nest where I get credits on my electric bill. So I’d be stupid not to choose Nest. Ring’s home security system sold my on them so I’ll end up getting the Ring doorbell. So now I have two major non-HomeKit systems in my home. So I just can’t use HomeKit and my reason for purchasing anymore.
    This is cheaper than the August lock, I can buy one for each of my exterior doors and rekey them all to the same key. They have the remote access add-on if I want that. And I wouldn’t be surprised if they eventually add auto-lock/unlock with an update since it already syncs with your phone.

    I have one I like it but the only reason it works is because I use the keyfob. Does the new Alexa work on Bluetooth or Wi-Fi with the kevo? I purchased the kevo Plus and I can't use it because it is not compatible with new phones. Has an old list of phones.

      I can confirm Alexa works with Kevo Plus. It won't work with Kevo *without* the Kevo Plus though. Not sure which phone you have, but I didn't have any trouble using Kevo Plus with my Galaxy Note 9. But once it's set up you can just control it with Alexa if that's easier. You can say, for example, "lock the front door" and it will. However, if you want to *unlock* a door, you'll need to enable that functionality in the Alexa app and set a PIN.
      With that said, I kind of regret buying the Kevo and Kevo Plus, as Z-Wave seems better suited to this type of thing than Bluetooth. I'd rather be able to control the lock through a hub (like SmartThings), and am considering replacing this with a Z-Wave model.

    I bought a house came with the kevo lock, bloody hate it. When I’m jogging I hate to carry my phone and house key. You’ll need your phone to unlock the dam lock via Bluetooth in close proximity. I had to carry a physical key all the times. It makes no difference to the traditional lock. Btw you can’t unlock the door with your smart watch. It’ll only notify you when your door is opened or close. Again I hate this lock

    Um you can *not* change locks on your appointment door! The landlord plus thier maintenance has the right to enter your home, even when you are away. It's in your contract!
    However if you *are allowed* to this to your apartment door, Which State or Country is this allowed?

    • @brucenoe5170

      It is a Kwikset smart key lock, the lock that was installed was re-keyed to match the key for the lock that was removed.

    • @SuperSamGalaxy
      @SuperSamGalaxy Před 5 lety +1

      It communicates with your phone through Bluetooth. It also has a calibration process during the initial setup to get a feel for the typical position of your phone relative to the lock when you are on the outside of the door. So unless the burglar happens to have your phone in their pocket, this won't be an issue.

    As a maintenance man for an apartment complex.... he’s gonna get a paper taped to his door. And I disliked as soon as he put duct tape on the face to keep it in place 🤦🏻‍♂️
