Deteriorating connections aren't something new. But it seems to have gotten worse in the past year or so which I'm sure many of you have experienced.
Before Lightfall releases, it's a good idea to consider setting your own expectations about game STABILITY and OPERABILITY. Content is part of the battle, but being able to play that content and ENJOY that content is just as important, isn't it? It won't 100% fix everything, but check with your ISP for any grounding/coax/fiber connection issues to mitigate at the very least anything on your end and control what you can.
