  • after I receive my second five gallon container I spread it on three fence pickets and freaked out a little bit because of how dark it looked compared to the other stuff that had already been done. This was completely a non-issue. It goes on much darker than it finishes at when it's dry. after only a few hours in the sun It was a perfect match from one Amazon 5 gallon bucket to the next. It did take almost 9 gallons to do just 230 or so fence pickets 6 ft tall with a rot board give or take on one side. that being said, if you're only going to be doing approximately half of that I recommend just buying your first 5 gallon bucket and then order the second one once you are done so you can tabulate your final amount needed. It might be more cost beneficial for you to purchase the first five gallons online but then go to home Depot or Lowe's, especially using your veterans discount which basically makes it the same price. I could not be more satisfied with the final look. our fence now looks like fine furniture grade stain instead of just pressure-treated pine looking garbage and all it cost was approximately $2 per linear foot of fencing.
