- Did you know that in Spider-Man 3 the game that on the Playstation 2, Wii and PSP versions you could switch from the classic red and blue suit to the symbiote suit at will, however the more you used the black suit the harder it would be to remove and would activate quick time events in order to successfully remove it. On the Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and PC versions you couldn't do this. I hope this feature makes a return in Marvel's Spider-Man 2, I will make a separate dedicated video on this for sure.

I remember this and I absolutely loved this game. Not only that but you forgot to mention that the longer you wear it the stronger buffs you get. Looking back on it they really treat the suit like drug and I’m all for it. It really puts you in Peter’s shoes.
And you also become stronger and quicker with your moves, gives a bit of satisfaction to the player. You get hooked!

This is actually what inspired the quick change feature in Web of Shadows

@@Rexinator567 Actually, Web of Shadows has a hidden new game plus option. After you beat the game you gotta watch the credits all the way through, then continue your last save which makes you watch the credits again, BUT if you click continue one more time it will start a new game with all your abilities and upgrades unlocked.
Are you sure not saying your lying But The quick change feature is something that I feel most would think to include since In the old 90s Tv show Peter could switch seamlessly and that show gave us he symbiote were familiar with since it changed his personality for the first time

Nothing crazy, i just like the effect of taking off the black suit on PS2. Because you can see the symbiote trying to stick together if you didn't pressed any buttons

It is on the psp and it’s also on the Wii but it’s also an exclusive for the Wii to find 50 shards of the venom suit to get the black suit again after the story
@@DangerousMoonwalkerOfficial that is not true. I own every version of the last gen version of Spider-Man 3 and you can get the black suit once you gain the 50 spider emblems.

you didn't mention as you progress through the story, the QTE gets longer and harder to complete. When you first get it, its just two button presses. But it then increases to four, then adds the button mash. Its showing how much the suit is bonded to you and doesn't want to come off now. You can even see peter writhing and screaming in pain in this. Also, if you do it in front of enemies, they'll stop attacking and look at you in horror. The black suit in the ps2 version just had awesome mechanics

Treyarch really did an amazing job making these Spider-Man games
because Treyarch's trait is dark and atmospheric games.
You could switch between suits in web of shadows as well
But not in the same way you could in spider man 3 for the ps2

@@meer9098 I mean it was basically just another form with a new set of combos, nothing too complex to do so yeah, spider man 3's way of doing it is, imo, better and makes more sense with the lore

I hope they take a lot of inspiration from Web of Shadows as well, having separate skill trees for both suits actually made it feel unique.
This game had actually better combar than Insomniacs spiderman man games.
This switch mechanic would have made the PS3 version more complete imo, since once Peter gets it he just never takes it off until he gets rid of it for good

Also what's really cool is that as you get corrupted by the suit, i believe the environment around you gets more grimey too. I remember swinging around central park with the black suit and the trees in the park were mostly rid of leaves

Fun Fact: Since Spider-Man 4 (the tie-in game) was in developmemt BEFORE the movie, it got scrapped and most of it's assets were used in [PROTOTYPE].

Yo I remember this! I also remember one time my PS2 fell off the dresser rendering it unable to close down where the disc goes. So I put books on top. I had to keep a certain amount of weight on it or the game would not work but if it did work it would have glitches and bugs. Two really cool glitches happened while I played this game. The first one was in one of the parts of the story where you go to the sewers and fight the big lizards. The glitch caused random areas and enemies to have rainbow colored and black and white textures or skins. The second glitch which is my favorite was that I was able to activate the Symbiote suit in the first level of the game. The random colored enemies and surfaces were still happening too!
That’s would be so cool and so spot on with the movies, and I also like how you can just change into the suit in the middle of the game by using an qte. So cool.
I played this version on the Wii and it was a nice feature. Another is if Spidey hits the ground from high enough in the black suit it will break, whereas in the red suit it will not.
Also, the more you use the black suit the bleaker and more run down the environment in the city became.
I played this on Wii, this video was a sort of nostalgia trip if only for a couple seconds
I always wore it until the last second and when he starts pounding the ground and making shockwaves it makes it feel that much more impactful.
Yep I've been knowing about this since I played that version most. (Should've bought the ps3 version) The ps3 version gave the black suit gameplay mechanics that even further differentiates it from the red, it's obvious different combat movies, the way it maneuvers while web-slinging, and the add touch of a lunge dive that's reminiscent of venom from the movie.
I only ever had the ps2 version so was shocked years later when I found out this wasn't on all versions

That detail was pretty much the only thing liked about this game and made it worth playing when I was a kid, after you finish the storyline you could get the black suit back if you managed to collect all the little purple glowing meteorites, I could never find the very last one.
Please make a video on that specific game over screen! I’ve been trying to explain it to people because it’s the same thing I see when I pass out some times. And it’s way easier to show rather than tell.
fun fact did u know that the same spider sense feature that was introduced in spider man 3 (2007) was later used as detective vision for batman Arkham asylum in 2009 and later for the rest of the series.
The fact that you could change between the suits at will during the game and the Morbius/Shriek storyline are the reason why I prefer the PSP/PS2/Wii versions of this game over the X360/PS3/PC versions of this game (and I have both, mind you).

It depends on the version of the game which is why this video exists - the PS2, Wii, PSP, and at-the-time next-gen (PS3/360/PC) are completely different games, with entire sections of the story different between each of the old gen consoles and the entire gameplay and engine are different in the 360/PS3 version. The combat system is different, the swinging system is different, etc and it's the same with this black suits mechanic - you got it for a pre-determined amount of time in the story in the PS3/360/PC version of the game and this mechanic didn't exist, but if you had the PS2/Wii/PSP version(s), then you would've seen this mechanic.
@@xanderkyron ill never forget being a little kid and asking for spider-man 3 for my dads ps2 while I was playing it on xbox 360. I thought the 360 version was all spiderman 3 versions. I was severely let down comparing the 360 version to the ps2 version

I was like in the middle of the story or something, but the game saved i think, because i couldn't get back out, and when restarting i was always in there so I just quit the game forever

I loved this game asa kid(played it on the PSP). It was my first Spider-Man game, but I could never complete it because of the final Venom bossfight. I'd love to give it another another shot, but unfortunately the game always crashes before the final mission now(probably because the disk is corrupted).

This was my first Open world Spidey Game.
I think the PS2 version is underrated even still.
It wa pretty nice and Vanilla, compared to the Kringe fest of the PS3/XBOX 360 version.
I really enjoyed the swinging and all these small mechanics.
But the black suit thing was a double edged sword. It was a cool feature, and added immersion.
But it also kinda pestering. You couldn't just enjoy the Black Suit gameplay without getting taken over.
I think they could make it more fun by not having a specified trigger for it. Like, instead of it relying on your Adrenaline Bar, make the time unspecified. So the Symbiote can sometimes start corrupting you in a couple minutes only, to not doing so even for hours sometimes.
Here's something I noticed as a child : if you have spiderman 1 on your memory card and THEN play spiderman 2 on your memory card. If you go back to load spiderman 1 for some odd reason spiderman is really buff. Lol I noticed it as a child and was able to recreate it finding out it's spiderman 2 being on the memory card that makes him buff now for some odd reason
It's an amazing feature. Bringing it back would be amazing. Because if we were allowed to continuously don the black suit and keep it on, it could be quite over powered. I understand they'll make the game harder to avoid this but come on. Some of those moves we saw in the gameplay trailer, how many enemies can they really make to combat that. Even if maybe enemies have weapons that disable it. Such as RPG's and maybe a few new fire based weaponry. But dodging isn't all that difficult too, so a cool down would be amazing. Perhaps after the game is over that's how Peter will kind of keep and control the symbiote, he only uses it in short periods. Because there's no way they take away the symbiote from us after the end of the game or after Peter gets rid of it. Like why would we only have it for half the game and then never be able to use it again unless we replay. So yeah this would be awesome
I had this game. I’m too young to remember 99% of it but I just felt a bit of it come up from my subconscious while watching. What a weird but comforting feeling

i remember playing this game when i was little and almost finishing the game without using any skills at all cuz i thought everytime u finish a mission u just get levels but they were skill points for upgrades XD the last boss which was venom was so hard i couldnt beat till i realised u could use them for upgrades

I like the ability to change between the suits, but i did not like the time limit. Especially since you lose access to the suit at the "endless summer" phase of the game. I remember being younger, starting an entire second save file, stopped doing missions right before you go after Connors in the sewer, just so i could mess around with everything.

Nah I'd rather have the Mechanics of the Web of Shadows where you have two completely different Combos for Normal Spidey and Black suit. Really makes it feel different and depending on what you use most Effects the ending and story
Sure, but in WOS it worked because this WASN’T Peter’s first run in with the symbiote. In Spider-Man 3, Raimi video game Peter didn’t have that experience… so fighting to get the suit off was actually a mechanic I enjoyed in the PS2 Spider-Man 3 game. The sound effects of the symbiote struggling to keep it’s control over you as you will it to go away for a while was just haunting and fitting for the terror one should feel at being bonded with that thing for the first time.
@@trevinodude yeah true that, but Dying from using the suit too long is kind of Overkill lol. Would've been better if they did an ending for using it. Also what I meant with the combos is because the symbiote makes you stronger, i don't remember much on Spider-Man 3 cause it been so long since I played it. But like, I want two Completely Different Combos for Normal Spidey and Black suit cause black suit makes peter stronger, im saying it shouldn't just be a Skin but have actual Black Suit special Combos.
Also, the option to Either keep using black suit or not at some point in late game would be cool.. an actual choice that gives a different ending like, after it bonded with Peter, you'll have a cool Special Black suit Combos for awhile, then when given the chance to Take it off you can choose to not do it if you do too much Bad Things from Side-Mission's things like that. Makes it more immersive
I actually know that because I played the game
the first time I put on the suit. It was easy and taking off was extremely easy as well but through time I got more difficult to takeoff the suit so I stop wearing it for a while and only used in tight situations like a boss or when I was a low on health
The animation for changing the black suit was perfect in web of shadows at least I thought so
and after completing the story, you can collect spider emblems. After collecting them all, you can change into the black suit even after the story has ended.
This was a core component of the game, I knew this when I was 6 lol

I'd really love if Insomniac puts different difficulty settings and if you pick "hard" or higher difficulties, this feature is turned on.
Sure, you can be a casual and play on "normal" to have fun, but if you really want a challenge, this feature would be VERY good for that, because it hinders the player to not lean on the symbiote to beat the game.
As a matter of fact, it would be a way to make players want to keep the use of the symbiote to a minimum, like a special that you use only when you really need it.
NO, I do not want just some 'Spider-Man - Web of Shadows' mechanic where there's no drawback to the symbiote and actually makes you want to play only with the symbiote because it's way better.
If people only have advantages from the symbiote, they'll have no reason to play without it because it's just way easier.
I swear if I remember right. Once you beat the game you could keep the black suit. On the Ps2 version.
Sounds a lot like drug addiction the more you do it the harder it is to take it off until your completely taken over 😔
