- Welcome to my 1-99 magic guide for 2021. In this guide I will be showing you multiple viable ways to get 99 magic. I will be showing you a very balanced and cost effective route, the quickest route and a very slow but profitable way to get 99 magic.
Magic is by far one of my favorite skills, but is also a skill that has a bunch of options. There are hundreds of methods to choose from, so it can get very confusing. Magic is normally a fairly costly skill, so I will be including up to date GP costs for 2021.

3:38 - Balanced Route to 99
16:54 - Fastest Route to 99
20:39 - Cheapest/AFK Route to 99

1:27 Is it just me or does seeing every spell lit up at once look so satisfying?
Dude when playing f2p and equiping a certain staff and looking at those icons lit up was dope lol.
Hint: For a poor man's smoke staff, you can use an air staff, paired with a tome of fire with one page in it, so long as you don't cast any attack spells the tome of fire with one page counts as infinite fire runes
So only attack spells (confuse, fire surge cost a page but anything else that uses fire runes dont?
What about teleports?
@@CYWNightmare only attack spells use charges
@@CYWNightmare I don't know about other combat attack spells, but you're fine to use teleports
@@buleleader Iban Blast is an attack spell and doesn't use ToF charges ;)
@@nowthatscrazy havent tested every spell in every book, just saying you can use it as free fire runes in alching
I was just looking for a more updated version of this. Your timing couldn't be better!
Flipping is smart, wouldn't be surprised if he used trending searches to decide his next videos.
Me too!
Was thinking about how I should be doing 94-99
Indeed
Same
You are killing it with these new guides
This is one of the most in depth guides for any combat leveling I have ever seen. Great job!
Just an extra tip:
- You can take a glider directly to the entrance of mm2 tunnels
- You can just use the crack shortcut to get to the hole, Don't have to waste ur time running around unless u havent unlocked the shortcut yet
I was just looking for a magic guide last night and I couldn't find an updated one! Thank you!
What about a guide for people coming back to the game after years. Things to check, quests you should do, things to keep in mind, etc.
I would love this
yes please
As an alternative to the smoke battlestaff for telealching, you can use the Tome of Fire at a much cheaper price (pages not consumed with non-combat spells) alongside an air staff.
Finally!! Thank you for posting this. I have been searching for another video.
I really like the way you lay these guides out. Thanks for uploading them
nice video man you really put out pure quality with all of your content. Cooking next would be nice to see :D
Thank you for making these updated guides! I appreciate them so much so please keep it up! (it would be cool if you spent like 1 or 2 minutes talking about f2p for the non-members just an idea)
Thanks for this! Was looking for some good ways, super useful!
Man your guides are so clear and easy to understand. Last time I played runescape was like 2004 so these guides are a huge help for me. Thanks
Are you still playing?
@@godzillaog2015 Not currently. Was getting back into it about a year ago. Still trade on the GE every once and a while. Its good practise for the real stock market lol. Not enough time for runescape lately tho
Really LOVE your guide layouts. Currently going for max cape so these will come in handy!
High Alching can be combined with other training (most notably with Agility) to effectively negate the time you spend doing it. Setting the spellbook filter to only show utility spells will also better align the high alchemy spell with an inventory space so that there's more margin for error when clicking it (it's default location just barely overlaps an inventory space and requires a lot more precision).
Best guide I've seen in a while
youre the best man, thank you so much for what you do!
This video was exactly what iwas looking for! Thank you
We definitely need more updates guides.
these guides are so great thank you!!
Tries to complete hard ardougne diary - needs 65 rune crafting
Tries to get 65 runecrafting - needs 82 magic for it to be efficient
Tries to get 82 magic - needs a kodai wand
:c
this is the way
This is so true it hurts haha
Hey, i got there by casting tan leather - 120k xp/hr and 1.4m/hr depending on the market...
lunars = profit mage
ancients = goldplated mage
normal spellbooks = pleb mage
arceuss = ghost mage
@@franciosdauteuil4626 I Iban blast blue dragons, and high alch. over 100k/hour xp and 1m/hour gp (depending on what you high alch) and gives hp xp if you want it. normal spellbook is not to be taken lightly lol (also you can do this starting the second you get high alch, 70 agi highly recommended for shortcut to bluedrags tho)
1.4m/hr cost or profit?
@@mattparkin7224 profit, but it does depend on the market, often is significantly less ... I just trained when it achieved those metrics
@Power is in the Truth Tanning dragon hides? It's a pretty well known method, and it has decently high requirements so not many people can do it. So not surprising at all really
4:36 99 def goblin 😂 thanks for the helpful guide👍 love from INDIA 🙏❤️
How to get 99 magic:
1. Get to level 55 for high alchemy
2. High alch while doing agility.
You really hate your life do you?
Great guide! However there's a mistake on 16:35 min, saying it'll take 10 hours more with a Kodai.
You should do one about construction!
Sick vids bro!
Keep doing guides 👍🏼
Congrats on so many views for this. It's the definitive guide in current meta. Watching for the third time so my girlfriend can lol
Me and some other clanmates helped a member buy diamond dragon bolts (i believe, don’t remember) to enchant earlier this week because with the current prices he would break even. Pretty good for such a fast method.
From level 7-27 and 27 to 43 is he buying these rings from the grand exchange?
I enjoyed the guide, but i feel like too many great methods were left out from this video. i remember making house tabs and charging water orbs when my cb lvl was only 30. I understand you cant cover them all but plank make to 99 doesn't seem too enticing imo. but great video! 8/10 :D
Theme song. Thats what this channel needs.
You can edit the filters in casting superheat ore so it goes to the bottom. Uncheck "Show spells you lack the Magic level to cast" and "Show spells you lack the requirements to cast"
I used to do a cool lunar spell combination method that combined tan leather with other lunar spells to get some nice XP rates (200k/hr+) while also profiting 1mil/hr~ depending on ge margins.
Using magic imbue is optional for more xp but reduced gp.
Very click intense, and how fast you are able to bank determines how effective the method will be.
I believe the two spells are tan leather and make plank, which do not overlap cooldowns so you can use them in very quick succession. There may be others that work as well
Magic is my favorite combat skill to train I'm at 96 magic and could of easily had 99 by now but want to savor the levels
I'm at 95 but I'm heading for that 99. It be my first maxed skill ever.
@@kyledesanto8043 very nice farming was my first 99 on Christmas eve lol. I'm 97 hp and 95 magic are my next highest skills
@@jaredhaggard2171 nice I hear ya man. It's actually one of the reasons I came back to RS since 08. I thought it be pretty sorry If i didn't at least get a maxed skill on my very first MMORPG.
Feel ya I sat on 98 magic and hp for almost a year until I felt like finishing them out at zulrah. Forgot where I got 99 range at tho 🤔
Thank you for sharing this video
Please can I request a training guide for " Mining" ⛏️⛏️⛏️⛏️⛏️?
Once again an amazing very well detailed and beautifully explained guides 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
I'm bursting Nechryaels for 200k magic xp and around 1 mill profit an hr. I'm lvl 92 magic. by the time I 99 I'll have made a few mill, collected a bunch of totems and Ancient shards, and made it to 99 magic Profiting with solid xp rates.
What gear
I love these keep going per se
I plan on training magic while also doing slayer tasks, what boots do you recommended for 1 def? My prayer is only 52 so can’t use devout
Just go to NMZ with full tank gear and chaos gauntlets with some magic attack bonus. Set the round to easy mode, and auto cast fire strike with absorptions on the monsters. Extremely afk and decent XP per hr. Buy the herb boxes and make a profit or little loss.
Do you by chance have a guide recommendation for this?
i trained magic all the way to 99 by purely High Alching, yes its only about 70k exp an hour but i made quite some money doing so :D (used a Bryo staff+ tome of fire with 1 page in it) wich pretty much gave unlimited fire runes and has a pretty decent chance to save up on a nature rune aswell wich will be deff worth if your going for 99 or a high lvl to save money, also a good item to HA is Air battlestaff *prices may change but* i got about 400gp profit for each alch they got like 18k buylimit so you wont be running out either.
I've had 99 mage for 5 years and im watching for fun CONTENT
Disty disty be distylike !!
nightmare staff can be used as a budget kodai (15% dmg but no chance to save runes or unlimited waters)
Hey fellas, for superheating around 40-70 on the spells page,
click filters, check show combat,
show teleport and show utility.
Then X show spells you lack the level.
Check show spells you lack runes.
X show spells you lack the requirements.
If you’re around level 43 it’s on the 25th slot and you can superheat and almost entire backpack without banking
19:50 Shadow Barrage? So cool! :o
mad respect for not dumping information
on me
Not even kidding....I looked up 1-99 magic this morning
Thank you. This guide and the others you've made are excellent. One question. I'm close to the requirements for desert treasure and am planning to unlock the ancient spellbook soon and use barrage spells to train magic and chins to train ranged but am far off of the slayer requirement and some other skill requirements for monkey madness 2. I can complete monkey madness 1 now. Will completion of monkey madness one provide access to the second best spot for area npc training or is there a better alternative. I currently have 80+ in all combat stats but most of my other skills are very low at this time. I appreciate any input anyone has on this. Thanks.
Why not use the bone crusher method for prayer like in your ranging guide and bring magic pots instead of prayer potS? or is this based around a more afk method vs the ranging method?
Currently superheating gold ores. If you're maining an account, i think superheating is one of the best spells to cast untill 70 smithing. 100k magic + 105k smithing exp
Instruction unclear, went AHK Alching for 2 weeks straight
comment unclear, didn't know what to say
how can u alch when u need to click the mouse lool
Lmao
Do you buy all those saphire rings? Do you sell them in grand exchange after enchanting?
Thanks for the guide ! Very noob question, as a noob, we need to "craft" these thousands of rings? i'm not sure where they come from. Thanks in advance!
I want to add where I trained; catacombs of kourend dust devils are in a multi area, and they have really good drops. So good in fact that you can burst them (there are 7 of them) with any gear for about 120k exp/h, with a profit!
If you barrage them, you need atleast a kodai wand to break even there, but itll get you around 150k exp/h for free!
I'm 99 magic, still watching lol
Sidegrade for those who cant afford kodai wand is the regular nightmare staff(no orb). Still has 15% magic damage bonus and can autocast ancients.
Great guide
An honorable mention for the High alching portion would be agility courses + high alch. Sure it slows it down, but you get both agil and magic XP. I'm getting 60k xp/h magic and 15k xp/hr agility doing this.
Bro i needed this.. i needed this... at 70 trying for 75 but now will need 78 for trident... feels bad
for superheat turn off the filter of "show spells you lack the magic level to cast" and it will move superheat to the bottom of the spells so u can superheat 24 tiems in ur backpack without having to move ur mouse instead of just half that
One of the best content creators there is, imo.
A somewhat costly but very afk method of training is nightmare zone with chaos spells and chaos gauntlets. Especially now that chaos runes are very cheap. There are guides for this somewhere on youtube.
I love this. Thank you Flippi. All I am missing is small section of f2p road :)
How did you set up your xp bar to show xp gained and xp per hour, like in 15:46?
Definitely recommend plank make! It's super afk for that high of an exp rate. Sometimes it only breaks even but it's still worth it!
For ice burst training is a brimstone ring better than a seers ring?
What about bursting/barraging nechryaels? They are good xp/h and drop rune alchables, which negate costs to some extent
I think more afk than the afk way is to use chaos gloves and cast the fire spell with chaos runes within NMZ, wearing defensive gear (bandos > obsidian) and occult necklace. Gives 45k xp/hr completely afk with absorption method (gives 6 hr per inv of absorbs), and the gp/xp is like 0.8 or something
you only earn gp if you get a herb box everyday. Bursting manical monkey earns you arround 300-400k per hour in prayer pots + way better xp
Perfect timing.
I was so hyped with the xp rates and changes of the high value part might have 99 magic this month because of this! (Was already planning to do monkey partialy)
also if you do the superheat/alch ways. consider buying a bryophita staff. sure its expensive but it has a chance to not consume nature runes.
it would take 500k thats 500.000 casts to consider making profit. and 200.000 casts is to max from 55 to 99. but you can always give it to another one of your accounts.
or just sell it again for near the same price. i did this myself for a while leveling 55>70 magic then sold it back and actually made a million profit :O
edit: bryo is now also f2p. so its a very nice staff to use to high alch most rune items. or like i did adamant platebodies i made myself.
honestly makes sense to grind out 70-94 and then when you've achieved the highest tier practical spells, to the go from 94-99 using planks to save time and nearly break even
We outchea savin monies
High Alching is always profitable if you find the good items (usually black or red dhide items and rune) at usually a profit of 200-400 per cast so you end up with a profit of around 2.5m - 3.5m
The major issue is actually the buy limit (most are 70). You need to find multiple different items with a profit margin. A good thing is to set it up over a few days to get a few hundred of each item.
Do you just buy a bunch of saffire rings to enchant for 7-27 balanced?
So can we use proselyte armour instead of the robes for bursting?
I’ve found alching works best for me, it seems like most of the methods have been patched bc I never make the xp/hr that these videos claim no matter how many videos I watch, or little tips and tricks I find and use so I end up losing money and xp. Doesn’t matter which route you take to 99 it’s going to take a while and alching to 99 is the most afk (Iykyk) not to mention I’m also profiting. I usually check the high alch calculator and just buy everything on there that doesn’t take forever to sell so you should have 30+m imo to start with if you don’t want to keep stopping and buying more items, or try to find someone selling bulk. Alching definitely isn’t the fastest to 99 but as I mentioned, you’re at least profiting and it’s actually afk if you do it right.
Does the enchanting 1 tick still work?
u should add ur personal prefrence how u would do it again and whats the best to go for in ur opinion
Such a great skill, glad to have hit 99. One thing I did as a poor player, around 94 I got the final lvls at PC. Was totally free just a big time sink.
I’ve been playing guardians of the rift for nature runes (runecrafting) . & high alking all the wines I made to get 99 cooking. No profit but it’s hitting multiple skills at a time
How do you do the fast enchanting thing though?
Quick tip if you cant stand the tele alch grind go burst temple spiders not far from the poh portal on kourend there's a bank and altar nearby as well for quick banking and prayer recharge these spiders also have some decent drops to make you a bit of money while you burst. Notable drops that I know of are grubby keys, crystal key pieces, herbs and seeds ~30k+, rune equipment and noted red spider eggs which are decent to hoard while you burst
been doing maniacal monkeys but i might go back to spiders to cover the costs & also maniacal monkeys is annoying to get there
i just started and im alittle confused, i click on the spell and it auto transfers to my inventory and i then click the ring and enchant it. is that the wrong way? because the runelite plugin says im getting the 15k per hour
How much gold you have got from buying the items bevor you upload the video?
hey, can u explain me how can i make my interface like ur? i mean this experience bar, or that u can see the stats of items in bp? cuz i am looking in setting and cant see it ;/
When I try to cast the enchant spell it tells me something about not being able to cast outside the mage training arena, but when i go there an try it doesnt let me
Hey, random thing, could you make a video on the most dangerous quests? No particular way, just however you think would work. I'd definitely be interested as some of thw quests I did like 7 years ago
Rag and Bone Man 2 is probably the most dangerous because you can fall asleep long enough to get hacked while doing the quest.
Is the kodai time stat on the balanced route backwards? Like the gp is 10m less, then it says the time it takes is ten hours longer WITH a kodai, or am i trippin
When u superheat like that you should put the nature runes as the last slot in your inventory so you can superheat more
Did you not mention necryals because of the slayer requirements? Cuz I was curious if that was a break even way to 99 or a little bit if profit?
Sorry to ice burst them too is what I ment
Imbued God Cape ( mage arena 2 mini quest) also gives a 2.5% magic damage bonus 👍🏻
I remember back when RS forums were the way to post skill guides, one person in particular talked a lot about "time-cost efficiency" which I felt was a useful way to compare methods. In this example, if you make more than 440k gp / hr, then it would be more efficient to use the Balanced method over the AFK method. Equally, if you can earn over 577k gp / hr then the Fastest method is better than the AFK. However, for the Balanced vs Fastest, you'd need to earn 2.5m gp / hr to justify going with the Fastest method.
It's been a while since I've considered this so my explanation and math could be wrong :P and there are other factors (such as level of afk-ness) but an interesting comparison nonetheless
Haven’t played in months but had to click as soon as I saw the vid drop
Hey Flipping - I realised you didn't recommend a Nightmare Staff - since its basically a cheaper less accurate weapon. Why is this?
it would be nice if you could list all the gear setups
I just learned that u need to be a member to enchant.. after purchasing a buttload of sapphire rings :P
Yea I wish youtubers mention what is members stuff and what is not. This is a bummer. I watched the video and If I didn't find your comment, I would have done the same thing lol.
At level 89 you can use divine magic potions to boost to 94.. with that you can cast ice barrage until 94 for faster xp. I believe the inbued heart lets you do it as well
