  • I love this product. I show you every aspect and how to use it using Calmsden Farm as the base of teaching.
    If you are new this will give you details about each aspect. If you are a PF vet but want some detail on the FS22 enhancements, you'll get that. Look for chapters with N22 for "new for FS22" in the headings.
    I was so excited to have this finally release and wanted to give everyone a detailed walkthrough so they can use it right away.

      Miguel, thanks for the reinforcement that my methods are helpful. I always try to make sure that I assume no knowledge in my guides/tutorials. If you've not seen my Sim Academy series you might find that useful as a noob as well. At times I will do something advanced that assumes you understand something else but will be very clear in the intro about that and usually will have another intro type video already there to fill that gap (my Autodrive videos are like that). Hope you regularly come back to see the let's play content and perhaps get excited about some of the other sims I cover as I find that myself I was drawn to good, immersive sims covering different things. In fact I tried Farming Simulator because of my love for American Truck Simulator and seeing that so many who played one played the other.

    Nice video, i have a n issue on the new Attingham Park where i can't select individual fields, it has field 34, 36 and the farm house land as one whole field, is this a map issue or PF bug?

    • @thematuresimmer4359
      @thematuresimmer4359  Před rokem +1

      So just downloaded and loaded up the map in my testing space. For PF this is a map issue. Easiest way to see this is when you go into the map and select X as if you were going to purchase and click around. In that mode you can also clearly see the parcel boundaries the designer used. Field 25,26 and 27 as well as field 12 and 3 have the same "issue" with the house. I have never seen PF select anything other than parcels.
      In contrast if I test Courseplay function on the map, I can individually select the field you point at and create work paths, so it appears to likely function without issue.
      Going back to your PF question, why do you feel the need to select independently? If I purchase that parcel, the Nitrogen map for example shows clear differentiation between field 34 and 36 at the initial load of the map. You will not be able to keep stats independently as you work them if that is your hope, without manual intervention by gathering data as you work and parsing things out, but as mentioned, this is the only way I have seen PF designed to work, with purchasable parcels in their entirety, unlike Courseplay which will segment out a field, but their purposes are different.
      Happy to respond to any other questions you have and hope this helps!

    I just started using precision. I’m confused on how to time the selling of my commodities. My environmental score is constantly going up and down, like right after harvest my nitrogen goes clear down dropping my score, I store my commodities and try to sell most of them in that Dec/Jan when certain prices are highest. Do I need to make a separate pass of fert months before I plant instead of doing it with the planter so I can sell with a higher score? Or like the other day I bought a few new parcels of land and even tho I sampled it right away to keep that part of the score up, the nitrogen and ph killed my score. Just trying to figure out how to manage that aspect, any help is appreciated

    • @thematuresimmer4359
      @thematuresimmer4359  Před rokem +1

      Yes some of the is a bit challenging. Keep in mind it appears the environmental score does not add anything until you are above 70 overall and then adds 1% for each point above that so you'd need a score of 80 (highest I have been able to achieve with any regularity) to get a 10% bonus. What I have not done is determine if this is even worth it as fertilizer is not inexpensive, so it is not uncommon to spend $10K in fertilizer across your fields to get crop bonuses of $1K-$3K, so a net loss.
      I find the bigger benefits of precision farming are the items not related to environmental score, like higher yield, time savings etc.
      Also if you play with weeds off, for example, as I tend to do, the weed score never gets above 50% etc. So you can make a fert pass early to try to raise your nitrogen score, but since it is across all fields the increases may only be 1-2%, so coupled with the dollar gain you will get, figure out what makes the most sense for you.

    • @thematuresimmer4359

      Did you apply after/with planting when the crop was identified? If not, FS22 PF let's you stipulate which crop you do have which I showed cycling through (it may be clearer in the 2nd and 3rd video on this where I verify the crop sensor does not appear to function as advertised).
      The part that has me a bit confused, as I've not seen this behavior, is "it just disappeared and left". So the PF Nitrogen screen showed a higher amount, then less the next day? I'd suggest standing on the field and it will show you the nitrogen and pH levels (it's toward the last 25% of this video where I spend a lot of time walking the field showing that). Some crops, need little or no fertilizer, like soybeans and grass, so the field will still be red in some cases or just barely moving into yellow. Also if the field already has enough it will not spread. Did you observer the nitrogen application as you worked? It should show how much was being added and also what type i.e. "loamy sand with wheat.""
      Hope that gives you a bit to go on. Come back and share some more and will respond as best I can.

    • @thematuresimmer4359
      @thematuresimmer4359  Před rokem

      So not certain I clearly understand your question so ask more if my answer if not what you needed to understand.
      If you go into the PF button on the ESC menu screen (I play PC to not sure what console command is if you play that way), you can click on the field to focus on that area. As you cycle through the different measures (Nitrogen, pH, Soil Types, etc.), at the bottom there are resets. Now only one of them changes any paint, which is the Yield map. With regards to the other soil nutrients screens, no you cannot make that go away, but you can just ignore it if not growing crops. This makes sense as in real life if you just decided to stop using a field you do not stop knowing what you knew about it. Those netrient levels are still there and can be measured on the off chance you decide to revert back.
      Hope that helps, but in short, only painted overlay you can remove is yield. Other than that you'd have to stop using PF in the saved game you are using to make everything else disappear.

    I'm still confused on when to put slurry on and how it works with direct seeding. I want to get my field score to 100 but I can't seem to get above 80.

    • @thematuresimmer4359
      @thematuresimmer4359  Před 2 lety

      Slurry would go on as the fertilizer it is replacing. On the environmental score, make certain you know which of the six factors are impacting things. If it is not nitrogen than your slurry is not your issue. You'd also need to add the PF tech to your slurry spreader so make sure you have done that. At times your gameplay settings will not allow you to get to 100. For example, if you have weeds off, your weed score will remain at 50%. Finally be aware the overall environmental score seems to add 1% to your sell price once it is above 70%, so those extra pieces take a lot of time, money and effort to add up, especially if you have a lot of fields and may not be worth it.

      @@benwilson2099 Again, the new video I posted gives you the core guard rails to follow.
      All those effect tillage score. The plow is the worst, giving you 0. The other items (subsoilers, power harrows etc.) are cultivators in impact to the soil, so they will provide a score of 5 typically. You really need to try a tool to be sure. Not plowing or direct seeding disturbs the least and provide the max 10 score. Thinking of it another way, draw 3 parallel lines on a page horizontally. The top line is the top soil and you can label that 10. Middle line is the shallower depth and can be labeled 5. The bottom line is deep tillage and you can label that 0. Then apply the tools as noted above to each line. In the store Plow hits 0 line. Anything else is 5 or 10. Really only direct seeders let you get 10.

      I had not seen anything about that, but do not tend to roll. It only increases yield by 3% so the time to do it just has never seemed worth it to me which is why I had not covered it in my video. I did some searching after your question and can find nothing about people having crops destroyed by rolling unless they had crop destruction on and rolled at the wrong time.

      @thematuresimmer4359  Před 2 lety

      @@anillius4703 So yes you only fertilize once, but the amount used is roughly the same. Precision Farming is not meant to save you material as a major feature. The value of it is it will not over fertilize, so if you drive over an area you have already done you will see the spreader/sprayer turn off. It is possible you can save a bit if your crop is not in need of fertilization. For example, I believe soybeans have little or not fertilization needs, so you will have less usage there and may be able to just plant and not fertilize at all, but the tool will apply or not apply as needed. But the time savings of running the field once instead of twice (or 3 times in FS19 with Seasons) is big. Also now with variable seeding and spot spray on herbicide have the potential for less waste. Basically if you were really careful before, turning off when not on the field and not spreading where you already did, you may not see a difference. If you were sloppy, you may see a change.

To me those are the most important components. I have a Dell G5 Desktop which is a gaming PC but no longer produced by Dell. I also use a Logitech G920 Steering Wheel and pedals which I think helps my fun a lot. On the storage the game itself runs off the solid state drive, and I do think that helps loading times at the start substantially, but would not make it unplayable, as I did use the game on a SATA drive before but it took far longer to start up. However once in the game I was not having any issues.
      There are many other things that could be discussed, so as I started with, it is impossible to just say "buy this". At best I could provide an opinion on if a certain configuration would work, and that is why I started with using the recommended (not the minimum) specifications and I'd focus on the four items I listed above from my configuration. The last item I'd respond to is should you have a custom built or build it yourself. I have found that is far less advantageous today than it was 10-15 years ago. You can find things from major manufacturers like Dell that are excellent and cost competitive with any similar build and you have added assurance of support which can be non-existent with something you build yourself if you find hardware conflicts. Hope all that helps.

      @@Jonokramer07 We just replaced a old PC we had with a Dell Aurora R13. It was on sale when we got it for about $1,300 and it was more than enough to play something like FS so you could go with something less. If you can avoid the temptation of "I want it now" that pervades too much of consumer culture and wait for a deal you can probably find something in that range that would meet your needs.

      @@Jonokramer07 Not sure what you mean by "company trickery". Pretty easy. I've built my own machines before and worked in tech my whole adult life so understand this quite well. I'd never build my own gaming PC again. The downsides are far greater than the infinitesimal upside you might press out of things. Having the background I also understand why the focus on frame rate is a red herring as human eyes can only process so many frames per second. Same as the 4K and 8K lines of resolution. THAT is company trickery that people buy into, but you cannot actually perceive those things with your senses the way so many willing consumer sheep convince themselves they can. So don't overspend. It's not worth it.

      Yes rolling is still asked for on the fields to get maximum yield but the impact is the same it seems about 2-3% If you watch the next video I did focused on the crop sensor based on feedback, with not liming the field and rolling we had about 10-15% below the maximum potential.

    Why are you using a crop sensor if there are no crops on the field? I thought the sensor was meant to look at the crops while they're in the right growth stage? Every youtube video is different.

    • @thematuresimmer4359
      @thematuresimmer4359  Před 5 měsíci

      They are different but I'd suggest I was the most thorough and why I did not name my video as click bait. I spent 20 hours testing to be certain. If you apply fertilizer when you plant as most do, you have no option to do anything with a crop in the field. The tool knows what crop you have and you can see that in the PF menus as it applies fert for the given crop type but the sensor has no effect that anyone has been able to show. I have two follow on videos from this on specifically the crop sensor and ended up finding nothing different. But in this one I had not actually even had it one which was the first retest and then I dd a second retest with some other changes. So I stand by my results and provide you the details on how I did things so you can try to recreate and show if there is an error, but not had anyone do that yet.

      Check other comments. Give the key mapping is not obvious I was not aware. I made two other follow up videos to test that and it made no difference. The sensor does not change behavior.

      @@granvillewright4115 The first. There are two other videos on the channel where I spent over 12 hours of time testing it to get the results I show. I found no evidence the sensor does anything after I learned how to turn it on.
      So yes, your questions is spot on, why have it in the game? I just think Giants did not program it right, but doing exactly what the instruction say I ran one field with the same crop with the sensor on and one with it off and the environmental score it is supposed to impact was nearly identical and I did this with multiple crops to give it every chance to succeed. The videos were posted within a day or two after this first one so if you search the uploads around that time can find them, but there are two more.
