Good evening ladies I absolutely enjoyed listening to your conversations and responses to the numerous questions you've had submitted.
You are both so well balanced towards life and what's important and not important it's a breath of fresh air and a big compliment to you both.
Like minded here to my views, which encompass health, happiness and non materialist are wonderful values and allow us to carry little baggage, in mind body and soul yet allowing for freedom of expression. Long may it continue for you both I wish you well with your life's journey, time has no meaning. As an elder in comparison to both of you I'm pleased with the similarities we have towards life and well being.
Life can cost little, with the right focused values, it brings a wonderful return to all wellbeing.

Thanks Ian, I know people will often have different ideas on how to do life. Our approach isn’t for everyone but we certainly have no regrets. The biggest change is that we now appreciate the little things a lot more than we would have done 10 years ago 😀

Thanks for being so open and honest... Me and my partner have holidayed half a dozen times on the island (Fuste and Correlejo) and I love beachcombing on the most remote parts of the island, that I've scouted out over the years. Looking forward to our x1 week only in x8 weeks time from Saturday 28th May+ in Correlejo... 😁
Thanks ladies! Great video and we’re looking forward to getting back there in November when we’ve had our vaccine. Really would like to see a video on property purchase on the island because we want to buy. What we’ve noticed is that prices haven’t varied much since we were last there (March 2019) but the number of properties for sale seem to have ballooned (no real surprise I suppose given the times we are living in). When I first came to Fuerte, I thought bloody hell, this is the bright side of the moon! After two or three weeks the sepia landscape, especially the cloud shadows over the mountains became really beautiful. Which is kind of weird, being from the west coast of Sweden, which is all about green nature and the archipelago.

Great vlog ladies! Very open and honest. One comment, then a request. Caleta versus Corralejo - Caleta is much more central, easier for exploring the island, Betancuria or Morro Jable for example. Are you prepared to share some clips of the handiwork in your garden and a glimpse of the views? Nick.
The buses are brilliant, cheap and air conditioned. But they typically go from city center to city center. What's great is you can bring a bike, which make getting around really easy!

While in Utah, push up to Bryce Canyon. The scenery there is as awe-inspiring as Lake Tahoe is mesmerizing.

Thanks John, I’ve always been fairly laid back but there’s no doubt that saying goodbye to the stress of corporate jobs certainly helps. Island life is great! 😀
We are hoping to retire in the next couple of years. We started talking about it around 10 years ago but finally made some firm plans about 5 years ago, investing with that goal in mind. I joined Mr Money Mustache forums around the same time and we have been following the "FIRE" lifestyle since then - saving the majority of our income and living frugally. We are not planning to leave the UK for good but we plan to take some long term lets and see how it goes. Its great to hear your story and that it can be done! Until recently its always seemed like a bit of a dream but as we get closer we are getting more serious :) Someone once said to me the only thing you cant buy is time, and as I have passed into middle age that keeps echoing in my mind and makes me more determined to do this. Really pleased for both of you how its worked out and hopefully things continue on the up and up.
It can definitely be done and it sounds like you are on a very similar path to the one that we took. I found MMM blog several years ago now, they really should teach the power of compound interest in schools and universities! Keep going! 👍😀

I'd say that Caleta is more chilled whereas Corrallejo is a lot more commercialised. I first went to Caleta in about 2005 before the huge building development on the side of the mountain behind the golf course but even now it's still more relaxed and rural. Both nice but depends on what you want. The beauty of living in a warm climate which is often overlooked by the Greenies is the lack of heating and clothing needed. What's not to like about that? If I could afford it, i'd be off like a shot considering the way the UK is going.
i stayed at the rio in vegas for 40 days. that was a bit much. but fun! i'd get an airbnb on a good bus route next time
So in awe of you guys, being focused and able to put those plans into action is an inspiration. Btw, our (me the Mrs) favourite place on the island is Jandia in the south where we've visited several times, we'd love to make the leap but... maybe we need to put on our ruby slippers, click our heels together 3 x times and site "there's no place like home", as you yourselves said, home is where you make it! :) Oh, and we're both NHS too so hopefully, our pensions might enable us to make that jump? Some day...
The lower cost of living certainly helps, we’ll be making a video very soon on the comparisons and roughly what our expenses are living here. Some beautiful beaches in the South 😀

Hi both, we really enjoyed this fascinating vlog. Sandra has been interested or speculating about a move to Fuerteventura so it was great to get an insight how you went about it. The debate on Corralejo v Caleta made sense (we’re in the Corralejo corner) and also your choice to stay out of the resorts. We met an ex-pat in Turkey who told us the hardest thing was to remember you’re not on holiday but living there when we discussed cost of living etc. Having had to rearrange planned visits in November and December it now looks like it’s doubtful our trip in March (13th) will be able to happen but we’ve everything crossed for June (2nd). We miss Fuerteventura so much ☹️ Take care both

Yes it definitely feels different living here vs being on holiday. A lot of people like the idea of retiring to a resort and having one long holiday but there are definitely some downsides to that approach (mainly the liver damage and the higher costs of eating and drinking out all the time!). Hope you manage to get out in June, I’d say that seems a realistic target at the moment 👍

Hi Daniel. It’s hard to know for sure but I would imagine that any need for quarantine will be lifted by then but that proof of a negative test may well be a travel requirement internationally

That could work well and you wouldn’t need to apply for residency unless you wanted to make it permanent

Thank you for a fantastic informative video and the insight into your private lives, so good we watched it twice. Can put the name of the language learning tool you mentioned please? I use Duolingo Mrs G liked the sound of the one you are using Amelia. We managed to buy a house in Parque Holandes last year and have spent quite a bit of time there and hope to make the move and take early retirement next year. Thanks again.
Congrats on your house purchase! The app I’m using is called Anki. There is a free desktop version and you can pay for a lifetime app licence on your phone (£24). There are shared decks which you can download or you can make your own. I recommend a deck called ‘Spanish/Español for beginners, A1/A/2, IPA, first 500 words’ as a starting point to build vocabulary. There are then other decks you can download to help with verb conjugation. The flash cards use spaced repetition so they won’t show you ones you mark as easy for several days to ensure you really know them.

Thanks for this video. Really informative. Just a tip for Sarah here - you can access your NHS pension from age 55 before 2028. It is worth looking at as when I did the sums I would have to live well beyond 85 to benefit the wait until after 60.
