- After downloading the original 1.0 release patch of Hollow Knight, I decided it would be fun to play it on stream and check out how far the game has come since then. We also got to play around with a large amount of broken glitches that were later patched, hope you enjoy!

Charm notch healing was probably patched in because of that one notch in Fog Canyon located inside an actual minefield.

it also seems like it was kinda rushed as a last minute addition to the update, as shown by the fury glitch, and if you look at it, it doesn’t even play the actual mask healing animation, the masks just kinda appear.

I think the point of the 50 geo toll is to keep you from doing dark Deepnest-it's like how the toll to get into Crystal Peaks isn't for the money, it's so that you can't pay it without the lantern.
that room is the room right before distant village, so you would have already had to have gone through dark deepnest to get to that toll gate

for it to prevent access to dark deepnest at all, they would need toll gates at the entrance from queen's gardens, and the entrance from failed tramway
I like the flashbang every time you get a mask shard, it really makes it feel more important
as someone with epilepsy I would've had a headache so easily playing the game tho 😭

I remember the first version I played was the release version, when I got to Queen's Station I got the voidheart version, I rememeber noticing that the game looked better, I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but it looked better, and the Stag animation was streched in the release version

I believe charm notches heal you to make new players feel like they got a really important item, it makes the player recognise that the item they picked up was special and it also makes them feel like they accomplished something difficult and it makes them proud, even if that heal wasn’t really necessary it draws attention to what you accomplished and what rewards you get, it is also to make the item feel more like a cool and special item, if you find an item that heals you for some reason, you immediatly think: wait wait wait, this is different! What’s the occation?
And sure maybe the heal gets more and more redundant the further into the game you get, it still FEELS better to pick up a good item if you get rewarded immediatly. Although, i’m not sure if this is why Team cherry patched this in but if it was, it’s genius.

It's actually kinda funny that we have now regressed from making more and more insane hk mods adding new content to the most basic version of the game that was ever available
imagine you had one controller or keyboard controlling this version of the game and the new version at the same time, then you could see the differences side by side
That'd have a lot of problems because of the lag issues in the release version, skips that are only possible in one version, etc.

They truly polished the heck out of this game after release
OMG the toll. It was like the biggest mendela affect. Part of my brain was telling me that it existed, while the other part of my brain knew that it definitely did not exist. Now I know it was just only in an early patch

for 21:08, i’m unsure if you can do that on current patch, but i know you can do something similar on radiance fight. idk how it actually works but if you get hit right as you hit rad (to end the fight), the knight separates like that.

I think it is to draw attention to the item to make it feel more special and to make the player feel good by healing them after a difficult challenge, a challenge that heals you when you complete it feels a lot better than if it doesn’t

Pretty much you save at the godhome bench. With at least one soul cast you sit on the bench, making sure to pause while the knight is sitting, but before any white glow/particles go around him. Then go to main menu, and load back in. While loading in spam dive until you hear the noise. Once you hear the noise immediately spam dash and right. You can check if you have the first part of the glitch by holding Crystal dash and opening inventory (don’t worry about the dream nailing the video did). If you can do that then you have the glitch. Then go down to any pantheon, preferably the first and then put on the shell and charm bindings. (Charm is required, shell helps, and the other two are optional). Then void out (die to boss, jump into void on the right/left of the platform, etc.). Once you die, press inventory while the screen is white spam inventory until it opens. Then once you’re teleported back, the inventory should still be opened. Equip the first set of charms, the close inventory, go back to the pantheon with the same bindings and repeat. After enough times you should have all the charms equipped. Then go the bench above the first three pantheons, and sit on it. This makes it so you can save, and open the inventory whenever you want again. Make sure to not open inventory while just standing normally while you’re doing the glitch before benching, or else you’ll be stuck and have to quit out.

Carlsagan42 recently started playing hollow Knight, and for a while i was wondering if he was playing on 1.0, because I've never seen so many glitches in this game.
He gets enemies stuck on edges and all kinds of random shit like that pretty often. I've completed the game twice myself and watched countless hours of other people playing, and never seen anything of the sort happen.
We are so silksong deprived that we need to go back in time so that silksong isn’t in development and we don’t know about it
Some of the glitches are pretty funny and unexpected
