    I like to make Greek Avgolemono ( Egg and Lemon) soup with the leftover rice in my rice cooker. It is a chicken and rice soup. After the soup is cooked, beat up a couple eggs and gradually whisk in a little hot soup into the eggs. Stir the egg mixture into the pot to make a creamy soup ( vs. egg drop soup with stringy egg). Add lemon juice to make it as lemony as you like and serve.

    I do a chicken soup that my husband loves. I've been contemplating how to adjust my (Yes, mine. Passed from my mama to me.) recipe to the IP. Your recipe is a great start to finding those answers! Thank you!
    Tip(s): Some dried herbs are better if you first slightly grind them in the palm of one hand with the thumb of the opposite hand. Tough ones like thyme and rosemary as examples become so much more present when giving that slight crushing action. Many herbs, especially the green ones, once dried and appropriately crushed will release more complex flavors and once heated in a dry skillet prior to addition to any dish; yes, even salads. The aromatics after doing its thing in the butter combined with the complex nuances of the aforementioned could almost stand alone as a side, if seasoning amounts were adjusted appropriately. Anyway, I hope this little bit of personal experience helps in some way.

    • @FloLum
      @FloLum  Před 4 lety +1

      Flo Lum - Right? It’s those small habits we just naturally do without thinking. That’s why when cooking a new recipe the first attempt usually won’t taste like the person’s does who gave you the recipe. Fun part for me because then I get to try to figure it out. Lol

    I think this was the first recipe of yours I’ve made (I just love watching the show usually but haven’t pushed myself to try any) - for some reason it just called to me! We’re not big fans of chicken legs and I couldn’t find any packs smaller than a giant family pack, so I substituted two boneless skinless chicken breasts. It was still sooooo delicious! I can’t wait to eat the leftovers for lunch tomorrow 😂 question - could the rice be substituted for brown rice??

    Am visiting Quebec from Baltimore MD USA and it's chilly this morning!! Will look out for Pumpkin Spice Spam in the market. The soup looks great, will try when I get back home to my IP. BTW was in Vancouver in June and went to the Richmond Night Market. Oh boy. Stayed away from the stinky tofu though, could smell it from a distance. Have great food pics from the stalls but FB wouldn't let me post them to your FB page.

    Poor Flo! You really looked like you were struggling a bit 'cause you're feeling lousy! You didn't say how long to pressure cook the soup! Good thing the recipe is going to be in the new cookbook, LOL. Soup looks yummy and something I would definitely try. 😊 Hope the soup does the trick and you're feeling better soon! And Dude ... saw an advertisement for the Pumpkin Spice SPAM the other day and thought of you, LOL. I don't think it has been released to retail yet - all the ads I've seen say "coming soon". 😊

    Can I add yoghurt instead of whipping cream?

    • @FloLum
      @FloLum  Před 4 lety +1

      Not sure about the tanginess of yogurt but you can just omit the cream.

    and Dude, the limited edition Pumpkin Spice Spam will be available on Sept. 23 at Walmart and Spam’s online store, according to CNN.
    Doesn't look like it will be available in the stores in Canada.
    This should be the USA store.
    store.spam.com/all-products/varieties
    Don't look Dude, once the different varieties are seen, they can not be UNSEEN.

    You seem in a few of your videos to be under the weather women hormones are effected by the SAD Sad American diet or western foods. to many Omega 6 not enough Omega 3 to much carbs seed oils etc you can cook many of things on Keto and not suffer the side effects. I love your videos but worry about you in 10 or 15 years and you wonder why you are real sick. I pray for you. BTW olive oil is good for this time it is the Chicken most time the feed is GMO soy and corn. Pastured chickens eat from mother nature not grains. Just like our meats it is grass fed not GMO grains. See the documentary American Inc. on Amazon.
