This is a simple and hardy soup that is creamy without the cream. It uses all natural ingredients and no artificial additives. Very easy to make, and down right delicious.
To avoid burning the butter while cooking at higher heat you can use olive or any other good oil like grape seed or avocado oils to temper the pan then add your butter. This works very nicely keeping the butter flavor without the risk of burning or caramelizing prematurely. Thanks for the video!
you all probably dont care but does any of you know of a way to get back into an instagram account?? I was dumb lost my account password. I would appreciate any tips you can offer me
@Hank Omar Thanks so much for your reply. I found the site thru google and im waiting for the hacking stuff now. Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Thanx, Man! I'm just starting 2feel comfortable in front of a stove. This looks SIMPLE and DELICIOUS! Watching my cholesterol and I'm learning 2cook 4myself now more and more! :-)
Someone at my church asked me to teach her to make chicken rice soup for her ill husband (I have become known for making/finding really good recipes. I have a knack for picturing what something is going to taste like without trial and error). He is not doing well and this is his favorite soup. I usually make lemon rice myself (which you probably know uses egg to thicken rather than milk and flour). So, I have been looking for a good recipe for this specific soup.. I have spent HOURS looking. I really want to thank you. This looks absolutely amazing. FINALLY one that does not call for bullion cubes (i detest bullion cubes) or soup base (more msg crap). I really want to thank you. I just thought you would like to know, this recipe is going to make a terminally ill man VERY happy. Thank you.
Ha!! I just came back across this after watching it when it first came out seven years ago. The weird thing is, this now the soup I make every Christmas Eve for the family. I save one half of the turkey breast from Thanksgiving and throw it in the freezer and then use it in this soup a month later, in place of the chicken. I brine the Thanksgiving turkey and it is pretty flavorful. The only other changes I make to the original recipe are to use Minute Rice and add half a teaspoon each of rosemary and thyme. It has been a favorite for these past seven years and will continue to be, as far as I can tell.
I came across this video over 3 years ago, and I been make this recipe from day one and I never changed it . I had so many compliments about the soup I shared this recipe many times with family and friends.
i can’t WAIT to make this! super simple and doesn’t take too long, i’ve been having an itch for soup as well and it’s gonna be my first time making it. thank you for the recipe, loved the bloopers as well!
After four days of being bed ridden and not being able to hold down any foods or liquid, I figured a good chicken soup may be what I needed. I found this recipe, made it, ate and kept it down. It was absolutely delicious! I brought some to have for lunch today... Yummm Yummm Yummm!
Made this just now, didn't have rice so i substituted with some leftover potatoes I had. SO DELICIOUS! Thank you so much, you made my winter so much more comfortable!!
Lol theres a fly! Its december! With a house full of sick people. The family wanted chicken and rice soup. My husband LOVES chicken and rice soup. Can't wait to make this and see his reaction! Thank you so much will try this tonight!
I was dieing in laughter especially when the rice plopped into the bowl!! Then the bloopers with the fly! but the soup is made with so much love and I can't wait to try it
Everyone loves it when I make Craig's Sausage Marinara, so I can't wait to try this recipe next. Craig, you're making me a star in my own kitchen, so keep em coming.
Omgawwwwwd 10/10 for this recipe. This is d first time Ive seen milk used instead of cream.I completely and utterly lurve this guys recipe.THANK YOU SIR😘
OMG I am hungry just watching this. It's 4'00 in the afternoon in India and dinner is three hours away. I can't wait to try this out tonight. Thanks for sharing Craig and love from India...
Thank u craig . im in long island ny.. Its cold here . i love creamy.soup i just made it.. I used frozen mix veggies like a cup 1/2 thars what i had .. Add my own seasonings to it .. But i stuck to your instructions .. I boiled my chicken used my own broth because i did have any broth its so thick and hearty love it...
Looks delicious! Funny, this is almost the way I cook rice soup in Malaysia each time I have diarrhea! I think when one has diarrhea, it is good to eat carrot, potatoes and rice. So I cook them together. Only that I don't use oil and flour at all. I cut onions, celery stalks, bell pepper, garlic, ginger, carrot, potatoes and boil them in water with some dried anchovies (plentiful in Malaysia where I come from). Before that I cook rice separately in a lot of water till rice softens but quite starchy watery. Then I add rice to the boiling vegetables. Then I add salt and sugar to taste. I cook till all vegetables (especially carrot and potato soften). Very delicious. In a normal healthy situation, I'd add crushed black pepper, and sliced red chili . If am not too lazy, I'll boil chicken slices, and cook the vegetables in the chicken stock before adding the rice...
We are definitely hitting a cold weather and your soup does looks so delicious and easy and by the way I love the bloopers at the end of the video keep up the good work
Delicious looking recipe Craig...I enjoyed this video (as my own creamy chicken vegetable and wild rice was simmering away on the stove - just looking around for other ideas, I guess). I have to say, after watching your video, I got up and told my wife that the more I watch youtube, the more I begin to "believe" in people again. You seem like a super nice down to earth guy...someone I could relate with and would likely be happy to call a friend. I wonder where you live. Central Wisconsin here. Anyway, thanks for the great [simple] tips, as well as a couple of genuine laughs (particularly in the end-bloopers)!
Wow, I love this dudes outtakes. Best part. F$#kin fly. It's December!! Soup is good too. I don't think I've subscribed to more than 4 channels.. But I'm subscribing to this one. Lol.
Great video, super simple, and your showing folks the basics of cooking - mirepoix (onions, celery, carrots), roux (fat + flour to thicken). I've had the cooking bug for a while, and it's so much better eating healthy foods that you prepare with your own hands!
I've seen recipes where the cooks use a roux; however, yours is the creamiest I have seen...hmmm...thinking of making yours tonight instead of theirs...kudos.
Evaporated milk makes creamy soups taste better than cream. Being from my state we make a lot of chowder and we have always as long as I've been alive and before used evaporated milk. You will see recipes that call for cream heavy cream and whatnot. When I lived in England nobody had had fish chowder before. I was told I could make it every other day if I wanted to!
Looks really yummy. Only thing I so different is I don't do the flour thing. I take the broth n heavy cream n cook it but I take a little out n put it in a cup and mix it with corn starch and mix it so no lumps n I pour it into the pot n its outstanding.. I add broccoli to it n my family goes nuts. When I'm alone I add some roasted peppers n garlic to it n take out the carrots.. Yum
nice recipe .. simple .. I added sweet corn frozen not canned .. and wild rice instead of rice and just let it cook in the broth and used cream instead of 2% milk .. but of course its good either way you could do half and half milk thats great also
There is just something about your attitude that made it so pleasant to watch and learn from. Thank you.
He’s great isn’t he 😅 just discovered and not following 👍
Still one of my favorite recipes. Thank you! I make this every time I'm sick, someone else is sick, or as soon as I feel a chill in the air 😊

Hmmmm🤔😊
Apparently great minds think alike I was going to say the same thing about olive oil LOL
you all probably dont care but does any of you know of a way to get back into an instagram account??

I don't mind MSG it actually has flavor, they use it China like we use salt and pepper, I have learned to not be afraid of it.
This recipe is still one of my favorite go to recipes when I'm sick and have no appetite! Thank you for years of the perfect comfort food.
Craig your face and the finished product....priceless!!! Soup turned out great simple and to the point.. thanks!!

Similar to the Filipino Sopa Soup. Looks delicious.
