Now it’s time to learn the correct pronunciations.
Here are some band names you might have been mispronouncing the whole time.

Lykke Li is also extremely close to the Danish word "lykkelig", which means a combination of "happy" and "fortunate". Although she's from Sweden, where the word is spelled "lycklig", one might think she borrowed the word from her "neighbors" to the southwest.

This actually helped because that means that I was always saying "Haim" and "Bon Iver" wrong...they did however get "Sigur Rós" a bit wrong. The "Rós" part is similar to the German Rose and therefore there is more emphasis on the "o" part. There is one band I would love to know how to pronounce right - "M83". Is it "m-eighty-three" or actually "m-quatre-vingt-trois" since its a French band?

Renard Dubois Lykke isn't Swedish spelling, it is Danish (but not an uncommon name for Swedish girls). Swedish spelling with the same pronunciation is "Lycke" . The actual Swedish spelling of the word luck is "lycka", it is pronounced the same as in Danish (lykke) in most Swedish dialects, but once upon a time, the Swedish king Gustav Vasa despised everything Danish and his spelling mostly apply in Swedish to this day.
We have the weird habit of keeping a lot of forreign spelling in Swedish, like in the Danish name Lykke. As a bonus, most of us are quite good at identifying the language of a word by spelling, and apply the (almost) right pronounciation.
