Always a bonus when you check the hoard of parts we all keep from teardowns and scrap equipment and find the parts we need eh? Just the time saved ordering or going to pick up parts or hardware saves more time to fix equipment. Nice blower buddy, well done.
I hope you had a great birthday. It looks like you got a great deal with the blower, you have it running great. We always call them Jubilee clips or clamps and I believe the Jubilee company are still in busness
Thanks for the birthday wishes Joseph, 60 yrs and I feel like 25! I asked the parts store guy for a #44 Jubilee Clamp and all I got was a weird stare lol!
Good work. Thanks for the tips. Might have a query about parts at some point. Also the inventor of the jubille clip just called it that when he patented them in 1921. The company is still going.
Nice flip. I've assembled and worked on a ton of these blowers. Check the position of your hose clamp. We usually mount them on the bottom of the tube with the end of the band facing away from the operator so it doesn't get caught in their clothes or whatever. Also you'll notice that the wire harness is now rubbing on the business end of that clamp. Those wire harnesses are delicate enough. We put a man on the moon but we can't make a wire harness that won't snag on anything?
Ken, most people will never experience the static shock that gets generated by the air flow from the tube/fan. But just like a plane crash it takes a bunch of little things to line up in order to make a disaster. Scenario: a guy is using a blower without the static discharge line in the tube, its hot and he is sweaty. The moisture in his shirt is close to the fan and intake on his back. 4 or 5 minutes at full throttle and the static builds up until it grounds out to the operator. Its nothing like a ballon on the head kinda static discharge. Its more like a WTF moment when you get out of those straps and throw it on the ground while its still running kinda deals.. i would put that back in the tube if you are going to sell it. Thats just me and ask me how i know.😂😂😂
It shows in the parts list for this serial number www.partswarehouse.com/Echo-PB-580T-S-N-P44614001001-P44614999999-Backpack-Blower-s/324496.htm?asymID=690%7C176118
$75 Great Price BUT PLEASE PLEASE ALWAYS TRY AND NEG! You never know If you don't try. This means you could have left some money on the table and more in your pocket! My God...A Couple Of Years Ago LOL Better late than never! The good thing is...echo never changed their design ONLY their price! Try for $300 high side but please don't sell for any less than $250
T 27 not a T 25, also you would be laughed off the job site with than 10 foot blower tube, that metal tube is a option instead of the one you inserted it onto, remove that one then install in it’s place .
Thanks for setting me straight! It did seem a little long. Is it called out anywhere as optional? Didn’t say so on the parts list but the detail number is a black circle.
My dealer didn’t know the aluminium-ringed tube was an option. The one he had in stock had an all-plastic tube. He did say that tall customers complain the tubes are too short on this blower as you cannot contact the ground even when holding the tube vertical. It does look kinda long but I’m going to try a test to see if the extra tube slows it down.

Thanks Wayne, too bad you aren’t here. Tons of Turkey and fixins!
Just picked up a nice Stihl backpack blower for $70. A lot more used looking then the one you found, but still worth every penny.
BR600?
@@KensSmallEngineRepair BR400

Thanks Scott, I’ll take a look at that! Maybe some shrink tubing on the harness wrap?
@@KensSmallEngineRepair Maybe. Theres just so many ways those can be damaged. #1 being thrown in a truck with other equipment.

It’s staying put until i can find a good PB9010. Kinda like the guy who has a 3 series BMW and dreams of owning a 7 series! Thanks for the input!
Make that cheddar buddy 😊
Yum!
The 580 blower did not come from Echo with the metal tipped blower Tube? Thats for a 9010 T

I dind it hard to believe the cylinder was not scored? How about the crank and rod bearings they are lubricanted bybl the oil in the fuel
2 slight nicks in the bore plating but not much aluminum transfer at all! Bearings felt great.

No worries on this one, it’s mine! Until I can find a PB9010 to fix!
Piston was shot but cylinder was good?
Yup, just a few nicks, hardly any aluminum transfer. All of of it went into the ring lands
Can you get away with just the piston and not the cylider?
Absolutely, new piston and rings
@@KensSmallEngineRepair I have a Stihl chainsaw with a scored piston to fix at some point.

The Echo has T27 heads but the M5 x 20 screw I found in my spare parts for the throttle clamp didn’t accept a T27, had to use a T25
