Good tip on the “vacuum “ approach! I like to use silicon caulk since I always have it available! Flexible and certainly waterproof!

Really practical tips. My hunch is the neoprene booties just loose their ability to keep the water out after a few years. I have a high quality pair of old Simms that leak in only one foot. Ive been too lazy to inquire if they will replace both booties. Thanks Tom! 👍🏼

Speaking of waders… can you guys do a whole episode about using and choosing waders. There’s different kinds. One with rubber boots attached. Ones with neoprene booties. Do i need shoes with these? What kind of shoes? What about just going in shorts and water shoes? Thanks for the educational videos!!

Aquaseal is great. Needs to be put in the freezer after use to stop it setting in the tube.

I called Orvis and they wouldn't repair my guide wear waders. They are the older model but still look almost brand new. They said they are out of warranty and I told them i didnt care and I wanted to know how much they would charge. He said it doesn't matter because they wont repair waders that are 5+ years old. I'll try myself but its a seam leak and i think those are harder than a rip or puncture.

Sorry to hear this. One solution to repair a leaking seam is to use Flex Seal (same stuff used in TV commercials). Turn your waders inside out, wipe area you think the leak is in with a damp clothe, let dry, then spray clear Flex Seal over the area. Recommend you use a thin first coat, let dry 24 hours, then do it again. We know guides who use this to stop leaks on seams or from "weeping" where protective outer layer has worn off. Hope this helps

@@orvisguidetoflyfishing thank you for this advice. I'll give it a try. If it fails then I'll be placing an order for the new Pro waders it seems! Thanks!

You can also leave your waders at home when you don’t need them. People beating the shit out of their waders when it’s 80 degrees outside blows my mind.
