    Fun fact: the aerial photo of the mall in the 90's at 13:08 is the only existing photo (other than Google Earth's historical imagery) of the original northern entrance (where Old Navy is today). I have sourced an artist's sketch from before the mall was built (from the original design guide) which has a better view of what it looked liked. It's a shame that photo doesn't exist on the internet.

    I’m from New Hampshire… I don’t live near Concord but I’m surprised they have a mall in that “city”. Concord isn’t very big and there’s not much surrounding it. Not surprised it failed

      Concord is the 3rd largest city in NH. It’s plenty big. It failed because the owners no longer wanted it and refused to sell it. They increased rent by a lot to force stores out.

    This has to be the most interesting abandoned mall video I’ve seen. It’s perfectly maintained and it just feels so strange unlike seeing an abandoned mall in decay. This really feels more like watching a Backrooms found footage video, it just blows my mind. Great job!

      Recently abandoned and there’s two things still open

    • @charlestonpinballarcade
      @charlestonpinballarcade Před 5 měsíci +3

      It’s perfectly maintained because it’s still an active property and structure with an employee obviously working in the closed mall section. The video is most likely staged in some manner for his entry and lack of fear roaming into back rooms. It really is awesome to watch, but also sets an example that others should not follow. If this was real someone was in that office while the kid is sneaking behind desks with safes, there could have been a bad scene.

      it is vacant, no one is allowed in that part. They are demoing it, only JC penny and a few stores are open thats connected to the mall that have external entrances.@@charlestonpinballarcade

      @@charlestonpinballarcadeAt that time no. Mall was closed down about a year and a half before being sold. Only stores allowed to remain were the ones with their own entrances from outside(anchor stores) once sold in Q4 of 2023 the new owners had the mall manager, the one remaining mall security guard that was kept on after closing and head of maintenance(was two maintenance guys but one went on medical leave the last 9ish months) vacate the property.
      The new owners' assigned property manager(PM) worked in Mass and they more or less just called in contractors for the couple stores left if they needed anything. Otherwise the rest of the mall itself was left untouched and not maintained. The PM maybe went to the mall an average once or twice a month at most. This is not a staged video or anything and can tell you what you're witnessing here is actually some random person "breaking" and entering. As for the reason I know all this, I happen to be the Mall's maintenance employee that used to work there.
      As for the part about being "perfectly maintained" is actually in way worse condition than the vid makes it seem lol. A lil under half the water heaters belonging to tenant spaces(what would be stores) are rusted out and cracked their water valves are just shut off to keep from continuously leaking. 90% of the building's HVAC systems are dead and the ones that do produce lil to no heating/cooling and simply recirculate the air already inside.
      The next biggest thing would probably be the roof throughout the building. If that snow melted or if it were raining while they were there you would seen a lot of areas just covered with decent sized puddles/pooling. Normally I would fix most of that and/or call contractors but like as i stated before the mall closed down about a year and a half before selling. The previous owners closed it planning to sell back then but the deal fell through and they were focused on nothing but trying to sell from them on. So they completely stopped approving any quotes for repairs and also would almost never approve almost all purchases we requested to make in attempts to fix things myself that don't require contractors.
      In fact 80ish% of the buildings fire alarm systems/sensors including the battery backups for all of it stopped working including the matter fire panel itself you see in the video throughout the last year. That's cuz a few different times the old owners actually had the utility company shut off the power. First time was not only for a whole month but acutely cuz they straight up just chose to not pay the bill. Only started paying again cuz the fire chief was threatening to get every department/auditing place for the state imaginable involved after repeatedly not doing anything they promised in the past 12 months prior to then.
      If you or anyone else managed to get this far and still are unsure if I could be who I say I am then feel free ask whatever you would like. I'll gladly answer whatever questions you may have until your satisfied!

    That mall is like a metaphor for what has happened to this country, empty and soulless. It makes sense that the young people here are facing an identity crisis of biblical proportions, because as a nation we have lost our identity, our sense of community, and our common areas. I just came back from a trip to the Philippines and the malls over there are full of life, arcades games all kinds of different foods movie theaters etc. Something fun there for all ages. You could go to a mall there a dozen different times and never have the same experience... like how our malls used to be not so long ago. It's a sad realization that other countries feel more like America than it does here now.

    I remember this mall back in the 2000s-2010s. It was honestly a dam good mall and the food court was the tastiest. I have many good memories of going with my Mom, sister and grand mother to that mall, it was the few times I was really able to get out of Newport and Claremont for a time. Got a lot of good games in that Game Stop that I still play time to time to this day and mom got a lot of cake decorating kits form the store at 15:20 to the right "if memory serves me right". I heard that "these are roomers I heard" the mall got sold to another real estate firm or investment firm around 08 and the later firm would changed the leasing agreement and hike up the rent a moments notice. Its a dreadful thought the places I would be in my youth are becoming vacant history.

    It makes me so sad that they want to redevelop the site of the mall and demolish most of it . But at least they would keep the JCPenny

  • @charlestonpinballarcade
    @charlestonpinballarcade Před 5 měsíci +5

    Definitely a suspenseful video… but…
    I really hope this was staged for your entry in some manner.
    Unless someone you know that still works in the office at the mall, take advantage of being young for as long as you can.
    If a legal adult walked into that office area, sneaking behind desks and into rooms that are obviously off limits and someone was in there, there would have probably been a bad scene startling an employee and possibly a trip to jail.
    While this was an awesome video to watch, it also shows how some actions really should not be taken in the chase of views. It really wasn’t safe for the person filming and the people that might have been in all those back spaces.
