- UPDATE, 11/2011: A new version of this animation is now available! Watch it here: • Anatomy of the Spine
This animation shows the anatomy of a typical cervical (neck) spine and intervertebral disc. Details include orientation of the cervical spine, movements of the spinal vertebrae, and movement of intervertebral discs. A cross-section of the intervertebral disk and spinal cord highlight the nucleus pulposus, annulus fibrosus, spinal cord, dura mater, spinal root, and spinal nerve.
I love the music accompanying this lol. simply beautiful animation. I couldn't imagine modeling something like that.
The person that designs a graphic that shows the whole of human experience in any action will be my hero. Until then, these physical therapy interpretations are awesome.
I love the music. Its so inspiring. Helped me stay focused while learning the anatomy of the spine. Thank you very much.
Wow. This is gorgeous. Your medical animation really shows the anatomy and function of the spine and how it moves. Discs, Nerve Roots. Lovely! 3D really takes the cake!
For amateur animators like me, this video is Gold ! I was scratching my head on animating the spine for a character. This video cleared some doubts for me :)
Amazing detail and closeup. Thank you! Though I'm not studying for medical purposes, this helps create articulated sculptures and understand how the spine is able to move. :)
Once again- Outstanding examples of truly fine 3D animation work- way to go Nucleus Medical Art.
awesome. PLEASE license this to medical schools- mine sure would be lucky to have this vid as a learning tool
Beautiful. Love it. Interesting choice of music as well, although not 100 % provable, classicle music is said to have a positive effect on the mind, especially during the prosess of storing information in short and long term memory.
Good stuff. I've just started a course in Alexander technique and the movement of the the first cervical vertebra against the skull is considered key for that. Nice to be clear about the exact position and to get an idea of the natural range of movement.
I still have yet to try acupuncture. I'm going for round 3 of PT though later in the month. They do the TENS system on me. I get some relief with that. I also have a Saunders Traction unit at home. Not the over the door kind, the one where you lay down. Thank you for your concern and suggestions :)
Pam
beautiful, thank you
i never thought id learn something useful form youtube
Classical music and anatomy, great job Nucleus-
Your video is very helpful. Thanks so much!
Really nice 3d medical animation!
this is really informative, useful, thank you
Gracias por este video, ahora entiendo mejor las diferentes partes de las vertebras cervicales.
Thanks for posting. Nice to see the physical structure of what is bothering me.
Thx very much, i needed this.
I studied this over the summer with a neurosurgeon in Boston. Cool stuff.
Wow that's awesome!
great!!!!its more easy to learn anatomy then study anatomy of books...thank you very much!!!
They don't show the DRG (Dorsal Root Ganglion) though, it's kinda crucial. Also, the first Vert. is Atlas, and the second is Axis. In between them lies the Dens (or Odontoid Process).
Yeah it exacerbated my neck pain whilst watching this!!!!!!!!
Very nice video!
awesome video!
MAGNIFICO
I have a herniated disc in my C6 and C7. There's no doubt I need surgery, I'm just holding off as long as possible. I got into a car accident last November and have been in pain everyday since
the music is a beautiful touch.
Really cool
The rootlets and dorsal root (sensory) ganglion not shown. Nor the other coverings (meninges), denticulate ligament (used as reference landmark in spinal rootlet surgery). The intervertebral foramen that lets out the nerve (where it can get compressed) is also 2 b elicited.
Good vid, with limitations, as it is meant 4 different audience.
Thanx.
very good.
you are my teacher
thank you very much
technically the dens is part of axis (It forms as the vertebral body for C1, but fuses to axis to become...the axis of rotation)
The vertebral arteries are located in the transverse processes of C6 to C1....
Thank u ...It is sweet to learn☺️☺️☺️☺️
so is the intervertebral disc kinda like a cushion? anyway, great animation
im in highschool and am looking to persue a career as a chiropractor. i am looking to get a little bit of a head start on anatomy and how systems work together if i get accepted into Palmer. are there any lessons that may help me further understand the spine?
i wonder if you rotated your axis away from it's position... wouldn't you prefer it aligned?
thanks
nice video
Gentle chiropractic spinal adjustments and axial decompression therapy helps me help 550 pv/week.
subhanALLAH ... glory be to GOD the Fashioner , who fashioned us in such perfect balance and harmony that would always amaze us
But it's good anyhow. Gives a good perspective of dorsal and ventral roots.
have you ever used 3d modeling/animation software? It's not easy lol. That was all I was referring to
genial!!
it's a Besic understanding of spinal cord & it will help to litarate laymen
I would add spoken comments. In the rest it is great.
does washing your hair bother it? That activity makes my arm go numb for like 3 hours after. What things make it really bad for you?
what are the yellow stick like things???
try Upper cervical care. nuuca, blair, knee chest....
Cool!
Not being schooled in this in any way, it looks very decent and educational
loves it
nice
What is the song used in this video?
Cool
who composed this piece?
Sometimes i get neck pains and im 11 so will this be possible to kill me :( ? but usually my neck pain will stop then start again later
herniated c678 4 years ago becoz of poor sleeping habit* (high pillows).Month of extreme pain on my right arm and eventually lost muscles around that area.Pain was gone after taking steroids( prednisone) and therapy.Never played basketball again but wanna see my neurologist and ask sdvice coz i miss sports a lot nowadays.I read that surgery wont do the job because its gonna reccur after 3 years. Why remove the whole disc when its the fluid and the nerve it struck is the culprit?
ya 3d mods are difficult to use. So time time consuming as well.
Wonderful presentation. Why 'cut away' the problem, when a Upper Cervical DC is trained to reposition the atlas and relieve the nerve interference without intrusive surgery? Science and anecdotal stories at upcspine com. Video at GetWellGetHealthy .
UC DC speaking in Oct at Jerusalem conference of MD's seeking understanding of alternative therapies that works for their patients. Many MD's now refer FIRST to a UC DC .
Nerves that relay messages to rest of the body telling it what to do
Neck pain?
uhhm..u mean intervertebral disc?..
thank u for a usefull video.... ( The music sat to it made it look kinda Akward) but i guess that's just me.. :)
@LightsOutMFKR Hey, what's going on with Palmer? That's an excellent school, and a very good choice!
true say
esta nice jaja xevere brither te pasastes pones very cosas good xD te gusta mi spanish ingles :D
I came here from a forum about deapool's healing factor...
omgosh I know. Sneezing makes it bad. I find for me, laughing hurts really really bad. And yeah, the pain at night wakes me up from me sleeping the way I sleep. And I'm also a photographer and the weight of the camera around my neck messes it up and makes everything spasam :(
The music does not fit well
I wrote that down
nerves...
Hmmm I didn't see any features that would be specific to the cervical spine. Very basic.

Beautiful, but uniformative. Needs speech/text.
andre andre, eepa eepa, andre
The music is kinda sound like from disney.
I actually did not watch a video on brain injury because it had spoken comments.
Creepy ......
we all have a snake within us
trololo
Nice animation but the music sucksss...
I got nothing from this.
