I love both versions equally - they're both interpreted in such different ways they feel like two different songs. Dolly's version I feel is from the heart, well a broken one. It's so sad and bittersweet. Whitney gave the song a rather different meaning. I like both, but it's only through Dollys version that you really hear the words. Whitney brought the power, the diva and such an amazing voice, but Dollys version is so much more human and honest.

In my opinion, Witney sings this song with passion and power, wich is great because shows her vocals strenght, and thus makes the song more remarkable, but on the other hand, Dolly sings with such tenderness that made the lyrics go much deeper. That is a fun analysis. I was thinking too how much I appreciated seeing our history through seeing Dolly at this time. Of course the 90s were an important part of our history too, and the decade would have been nothing without Whitney's version. But it's fun to see the 60s and 70s through this.
