If I was a visiting dignitary I would compliment you on the luxurious amount of important information on your screen and tell you to keep up the good work young man!
Yeah, lots of folks have said it needs cmatrix. I can't remember at this point why I didn't add it at the time. It'll be the first one I do if ever there's a sequel.
Thank you pacbilly, This will be useful for when I am at a fundraiser dinner party (probably at Batwayne's mansion or something, I don't know) and maybe need to garner the sympathies of the rear admirals wife or some such. I'll tell her it's terminal.
The technique I've outlined is especially effective on those foreign dignitaries wearing epaulets and lots of medals, maybe a sash, so a rear admiral's wife would be perfect.
Dude i don't even know what your channel is about yet , i was only recommended this video , but you've got yourself a +1 sub lol i love this , it's better looking than an auto ping ، ranger and a sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade in the cool_retro_term 😂
Multi tasking the old fashioned terminal way! :) I remember doing this! Midnight commander, directory Opus, Norton Commander, Windows Commander, Total Commander, it's all good.
CBM-Command is a relatively recent Commander / Opus style file manager for the C64. And if you're interested in a dual-pane file manager / ftp client for the Mac, I'm a big fan of ForkLift.
@@oglothenerd Well it started as a research OS at Bell Labs. Ken Thompson and Dennis Ritchie was the founding fathers and it was a reaction to the over-complicated "Multics". Somewhere around the mid 70´s (IIRC). Thompson brought UNIX with him to Berkeley and it´s from that we got BSD UNIX. The rest is of course history and what "UNIX" is today depends on if you are a lawyer or a BSD geek. MacOS is very much UNIX. In fact, I think they managed to get to be the first BSD based OS to get UNIX certification somewhere around 10.4 or 10.5.
I started to get bored while you were playing 2024 and almost clicked away but I am SO glad I didn't. I cackled my ass off for the entire rest of the video after you moved on from it. 😂
Hehe, yeah, I guess I should have planned his accent ahead of time. I think I reached for Jack because I hadn't thought about what voice I would do, or even that I would do a voice. Not a very premeditated video.
I probably could have told you five years ago. I have loads and loads of easy listening-type collections that I've grabbed off youtube over the years. Sometimes I'm dinged for copyright and sometimes not.
All I can say is, now that I'm looking for a job, it's a good thing I've established such good relations with that foreign dignitary from down the street. I may have to defect.
You don't know what job I had? But you're the one who fired me! I guess if nothing else that proves I was expendable. I have made a comedic thing or two in my day. Perhaps one day I will share them with the Tubes of Ewe.
What can I say, I am obviously more stupid than I thought I were. Well played. I hope one day you will share them. :) I don't know what it is, but I am intrigued.
No, it's on a Mac. One of the first things I do on every Mac I set up is install the Homebrew command line package manager. At it's core, macOS is a fork of BSD, and a lot of the most popular command line binaries are supported through Homebrew. I still use Linux whenever I can, but there are loads of Mac apps I haven't found suitable substitutes for.
It's one of any number of Easy Listening things I've found off the internet. Probably from BBC Ceefax pages. There's a lot of stuff that's been uploaded to CZcams along the way. I recognize the first tune as Clang Clang Clang Goes the Trolley from that Judy Garland musical, but I've amassed so much of this stuff now it would be hard to pinpoint where I pulled it from. It's worth noting that YT usually gives me a copyright notice, but it doesn't matter since I don't monetize.
And if I were a foreign dignitary, I'd fly over there to be impressed by what an important a-hole you look like. I am foreign, so I'm halfway there. Just not dignified.
This is literally the example xD of script kiddies , most actual hackers and people who use linux prefer the normal terminal because they can freaking focus on it not that but awesome video bro exactly does what it says :p
macOS ain't so bad. At least it wasn't so bad five years ago. Everything that has come from Catalina on has just gotten worse and worse, and it fights you at every single turn. I ought to make a video about how terrible it's gotten. Everything that makes it bad is all in the name of 'privacy' but it's just like that backup camera warnings that come on every time you start your car -- the lawyers got involved, and it's just about exoneration of guilt. Everything goes to $#!t when you put the bean counters in charge.

There are whole channels predicated on this statement.

You see there? War... averted.
My smile had gotten bigger and bigger while you kept playing 2048 and didn't give a f*ck about the video for a while. =)
Hehe, some things are just more important.
Save yourself the trouble and use the "hollywood" command
*proceeds to play 2048 for a few minutes*
Hey, some things are more important than saving the world through diplomacy.
@@pacbilly no doubt lol
"I solve dependencies....... By hand." Lol 😆
Congrats. You've perverted a clean, nice, non-distracting terminal window into something kinda usable.
Thanks a lot.
:D Got to impress those visiting dignitaries, you know!
@@pacbilly Consider it done, IMHO.
Missing out some htop and cmatrix to really up that intimidation factor when that dignitary walks by.

Both YT and my brain decided that I needed this at the same time.
I'm beginning to doubt the soundness of both. :D
where is cmatrix dude
I should really do an updated one. There's tons of more fun stuff to impress visiting diplomats with.
I do that to myself out of boredom.
While you're at it you may as well invite some foreign dignitaries over.
This could've stopped the fire nation
If only...

This is awesome 😂 It cracked me up how long you kept playing 2048. Keep being you man.
For several minutes it was just me and those tiles. The viewers and my original purpose for the video were the furthest things from my mind.
YT recommended me here. My first thought was "where is cmatrix?"
That was a lot of people's first thought. I'll have to remedy it in a part 2.
Thanks for an advice from the experience.
This 2048 playthrough let's play rocks ;)
Yeah, 2048 is the meat of the video. The rest is just worthless filler.
The algorithm is with us tonight!

lol I love the music in the background
The background music is really the video's only redeeming quality.
Not the only one, your style too. I wouldn't have watched a video on this subject matter by anybody else :)
:D
Now I have to try that 2048 thing. But first, the President!
Don't even attempt to save him without first changing into your tank top and parachute pants!
Oh, I always have those on, just in case.
Bro you got me prompted 😅
The music is as fantastic as the advice. Thank you sir.

My God, it even has Planetfall.
A classic that I'm sorry to say I haven't spent as much time with as I should've.
