  • I bought a "new to me" 50watt 12x20 CO2 laser, now I just need somewhere to put it. I figured I would make a simple, cheap and easy stand for it. I used 8 pieces of 2x4x93, 1 4x8 4 ply 1/2in sheet of plywood and a box of 3in drywall screws. Total time was about 2 hours from start to finish.
It came out great, super sturdy with plenty of room under for the chiller and air pump.

Just started messing with the acrylic, the cutting and engraving part. It's pretty cool all the different stuff they have for these!

Nice! looks similar to the one I have. Once you get going some upgrades I recommend are a larger exhaust fan to exhaust the smoke to keep your mirrors clean, analog amp meter to keep an eye on your laser output and if you will be doing a lot of continues cutting look into a freon cooler to keep your water temps down.

Would you say you make a pretty good living doing this type of work ?

I really just started with the laser end of stuff. In my opinion you have to think outside the box using different pieces of equipment to create 1 finished product to be unique. The sign industry was good to us, everyone else caught on and went past what we were doing. You have to keep your eye on the future and never stop growing, evolving your craft or moving forward.
