(For those less familiar with Subaru, she's lived in Candada as an exchange student for a short while and reads some English forums)

Polka doesn’t care about the senpai thing. She is different from her peers in that way. It might be because she’s been in the vtuber business since early 2018 but it’s most likely just her personality.

Now, the BIG question to me, is how on EARTH she knew that Kronii looked up to Subaru that much. It felt like a very intentional act to me. Has Kronii mentioned Subaru before, like in any kind of special way? If that was just instinct alone, Polka is even scarier than I thought.

This hurts me so much as I am Asian and had long forgotten how to speak my mother tongue. Whenever I spoke to anyone in that language, I struggle to form sentences since sometimes sentences are said in reverse order. And I have done what Kronii did on putting more emphasis on certain words and letters, often getting mistaken for what I'm trying to say.

I think what really makes it amazing is how it works with Kronii’s narcissistic persona. For one thing, it contrasts nicely with the usually-polite tone Japanese usually takes. (I think this is one reason why Subaru is laughing so hard. The cultural differences make Kronii’s responses even more unexpected to her.) Additionally, there’s the gap moe between that and her clearly nervous demeanor here (from trying to speak Japanese to native speakers).
Based on other streams (without JP members) and what she has said since, it would appear that she is actually quite fluent with Japanese normally, though she often rehearses to get that VA-quality pronunciation and fluidity. However, when speaking with a native speaker, she gets incredibly nervous, leading her to trip up more often. However, if she drinks some alcohol beforehand, that can loosen her up enough so that she doesn’t get so nervous speaking to JP members. She still trips up or misses some nuances (like with “kintama”), but she’s still remarkably fluent.
