Where I live organized crime could just casually enter your life and then leave. We aren't Italian but my dad did medical work with a lot of Italians and eventually a very important Italian who was grateful for his help and also happened to show up at the same restaurants and stuff occasionally. (This was back in the 60's and 70's). It turned out later that my mom went to sleepovers with his daughter and her friends as a girl. To them these people were just casual friends that popped up and bought them dinner sometimes or whatever. Later the "very important" one was was killed in his basement by a person or persons that were never caught.

It's crazy what crops up in one's family history, like on my father's side a couple of hundred years ago the male line just apparently starts up with a boy born to a very poor and illiterate young woman who was a servant, her parents were poor and illiterate, the father was not named.
This boy, somehow, got education such that he went on to be an engineer and lived a long middle-class for the time life with all his children who survived infancy being educated and middle-class.
There are quite a few reasonable guesses one could make from all that.
On my maternal side we definitely have at least one very successful pirate who eventually managed to retire in civilisation, supposedly he burnt down a city somewhere.

hmmmm... well a large part of the Yakuza and underworld are made up from Korean-Japanese who live in Japan but can't become Japanese for generations. Kronii's family may used to live in Japan and then later emigrated to Canada. That would be one possible reason why her granma is Japanese in her very Korean family.
I mean even without all that interesting things, I think that if you're JP and found out your relative was part of one of the biggest things happening in JP atm you'd be kinda proud and if you're a fan it'd be even crazier.
It's like me when I grew up finding out what my father/uncle was up to back in Russia. The funny thing is on one side I feel like a tiny man and soft man...basically a bitch compared to them and alittle jealous I was not able to grow up in their world. To be fair kronni being part japanese is not that surprising, im pretty sure that one requirement to enter hololive is to have a grasp of the japanese lenguage
It's not gura knows basically no Japanese and only started to learn for hololive ima recently told a story about gura not being able to understand the Jp members at the office

Any extra language you can speak is a plus for the audition, but there is no requirement as far as I know. The plus is probably bigger for the Japanese language considering their main market is there, but it's not a must. I do think they consider having one Japanese speaker per gen is a must, but it's definitely not written as a requirement.

True, but it's not a good thing either. It's too romanticized these days, but the fact is yakuza is a criminal organization. The one that is not that bad of a person is the one whos forced to join one. Saying yakuza is there to keep order is a very naive way of seeing things. But it can be true to some degree. They keep the street thug in line so they can smoothly do their organized massive-scale crime or business where they tread upon the gray area of the law. The whole porn industry in japan is one of their playgrounds. But yeah, if we are talking about individuals, someone being a yakuza doesn't automatically mean they're a bad person, there are many circumstances.
