  • In this follow-up episode, Talon and I help out some customers who were caught up in a crash on an icy bridge. We use our 2015 Peterbilt 389X with a Miller Industries, Century 1150R Rotator heavy towing and recovery vehicle to change the Piggy Back stack around so the customer can continue on their way. In our industry this is called "decking" and "un-decking" trucks. The customers were extremely pleasant to deal with and were exceptionally hard workers. They were a pleasure to work with.
I hope you all enjoy this video!!! Thanks for watching and God bless!!!

15:42 When I heard Talon say "Y'all don't need me" all I could think of in my head was "No buddy, Ron needs you more than you probably know and likely more than anybody at that company." Ron I know you have a bunch of great, hard working guys on your team but Talon is the next generation along with Ethan. Talon will be that "go to" guy when you're not available and something needs to get done, or a question answered. I've watched your videos for many years and always smiled when I saw your dad, you, Talon and Ethan working a scene together.
I lost my dad in 2016 to cancer and sadly we weren't close at all for nearly 20 years. We were able to get back to a tight father and son relationship for 3 years before his death. His 2nd wife had alienated him from his entire family and only as his grandchildren were grown did he see the light. Many guys would give anything to be in your shoes the way you have family and business able to coexist. Guys around our age (you and I) are the last generation of "hands on" guys and I'm glad you got to share those times with your dad, son and son-in-law. I can see how great of a teacher and student to your business, employees and family you are. So happy I get to see details of your every day work life.

My dad and I, both owner operator truck drivers, were in a similar situation for 4 or 5 years. We could be at the same truck stop, fueling up side by side and not even look at each other. Thanks to both my wife and my sister, we patched things up a year or so before his death in 2008...he was only 64 years old and was killed trying to avoid hitting a car that cut him off on I-285 going around Atlanta-I was about 1/2 mile behind him and saw the whole thing. If I did 1 thing right in the time that my dad and I were being foolish it's that I DID NOT keep him from seeing his grandchildren and I know that he appreciated it. Seeing him die almost caused me to give up trucking but, I know that he wouldn't have wanted that. I miss him to this day and know that he's watching over me and my family. I only wish that he was still here on earth to enjoy his now 6 year old twin grandsons and that they could know him!

i mean this in the most respectful way, be thankful that all you guys know who your dad is! I was raised by a single mother (who tried her best to be a father figure as well) i would have loved to have a father, or any other family for that matter. All i had was my mom, and i lost her 9-29-2021 from a blood clot from the 2nd shot. (please don't reply with any political stuff, it's not needed here on Ron's channel) Now it's only me. I found my father's name and searched it, found out he passed away when I was a year old, so no chance of ever meeting him.

The new intro took me back to watching Emergency! on TV as a kid in the 1970s. I still love that show and watch it on the "retro" channels when I'm home. Squad 51 and Engine 51 were/are the real stars of the show to me.
Even though I've seen decked combinations on the road for most of my life, I never really paid attention to how they were assembled. I just assumed that they were connected to the 5th wheel somehow so, I learned something from this video too.
As always, be safe and God bless you, your crew and your equipment.

I can see the appeal, but I have to disagree on the intro. It sounds so much louder (regardless of the actual decibel number; I haven't checked) that my hand instinctively went to the volume button. I have the same problem with half of Matt / Diesel Creeks intros.
The duration went from 24 to 12 seconds, so that's a definitive win though :)

As a ex fleet technician for Bridgestone commercial the technician banging the ice of the face of the rim I definitely was shocked as if I did that to any of my customers rims it would be a very serious case, and yes I have worked in far worse conditions indeed, but all by myself as well in having to replace every wheel and tyre in extremely dangerous situations, but then again these tractor units pig backed is absolutely ilegal here, but our truck's have 9 axles and carry up to 42 tonnes payload, but then again Ron and team are the differences between the normal again ☺.

Ron - As a retired firefighter and medic we found that if you drilled a 3/8" hole in your blocks, cribbing, and run a 1/4" rope through the hole, tie a knot and work it into the drilled hole that it made for ease of grabbing and pulling. Just a suggestion. Great videos. Really miss the "Q" sirens on the trucks.

I drove these 4 way stack units from Dallas to California every week for two years for a company called NTC (National Trailer Convoy). Lots of fun but0 unless they changed the design of the saddle that attracted the trucks I can see how easy it broke away. The snapped blots all the time we would have to call Raider to come out and repair them. We mostly drove at night because the trucks would rock and sway like train in fact we called that last truck a wild dog on a pice of kite string.
They banded the front tires to the truck's and when you sometimes stopped other truckers would steal the tires so when you got to your destination they couldn't undock them. Never drove a set in snow or ice..

Just watching your videos makes me realize, that probably wasn't possible even in my younger years. I did learn something. How you crossed the cables in an X while lifting the 2nd truck off the wrecked truck. That may be a common way to do it, I just didn't know. Great team work Ron, we don't transport units like that in the UK, would save alot of time and money.

Nicely done! And love the new intro! IDK how far the guys have to go to deliver the trucks. The only one without a sleeper is the lead truck now. Murphy's Law! Stay safe and bless you and yours.

I dont think they are new trucks. I think they are fleet trucks being relocated. I wondered that myself, if they were new, hard to tell under the ice slurry and filth, but the rear one they made the power unit looked like it had some paint damage on the front of the hood near the headlight.

I saw those guys off to the side watching the work intently and was wondering if Ron was going to see if they wanted a job. Then it turned out they were the guys working on the tractors.

Ron love the new opening with you rolling out of the bay with the good old Q siren sounding...it is great. I have another suggestion for more merch for you diecast models of the fleet especially the Rotator. All the best to you and your family...Stay Safe.
