- I've got a great client who ordered a bunch of custom furniture. One of those pieces is a dining table. Problem is, she decided to change her mind on the design the day before I started building it.

Mike I know you doubt what your doing in CZcams if it’s working. Man I love your videos please keep it up. The followers will come. Love your style man and you should feel real good about what you’re putting out!
Thank you! That means a lot. This story telling will be more part of the channel. I really enjoy it.
That was such a joy to watch and I have subscribed.

Thank you!
All the Ash jokes. 😂 Another informative and entertaining video production
Thanks man!
Take away = Pine belongs in the walls of a house 😂. I also love the style of your videos and how you explain things. Again awesome work.
Man thanks so much!
I recently completed a job for a client out of ash. It really was a pleasure to work with, albeit really friggin hard!
Exactly! Good stuff. Just really hard.
He just backed that ash up
Regarding your issue with the naming of the tool and the floating tenons: the tool is officially called a "DF", which stands for "Domino Fräse" (Domino Router). DF being a silly name when pronounced in English ("Deaf? WTF?"), people stared calling it Domino. So it is the people that use it who are silly, not the people that named it when they designed it. (Festool has a fairly standard German way of naming their machines by using acronyms, hence the TS (Tauch Säge = Diving Saw), MFT ("Multi Funktions Tisch = you know what), etc.
Yeah it was just a joke.
I’m here for this
I'm here for cake.
New to the channel, but not sure after years of the other woodworkers I didn't subscribe to your channel. Now a subscriber. Really informative and love the format. Currently building a headboard and footboard out of Ash. Going to try your jokes out on the wife! :)
Appreciate the sub! Glad to have earned it!
Hey Scott, agree with the take on the table build. Do you post your work anywhere?

My ash be draggin' too. We need a new dining table and I want to make it interesting but really what works best for us is something nice and simple, but well built like what you've done. Some times function drives form and that is a-ok. Great job and thanks for sharing your process.
You can do it! I have plans available for it in the description if you're interested!
Love your style of video presentations & work
Thank you very much!
Love this build and your videos in general~! You've got a great format. I'm always looking forward to what's next from your shop.
Also, my wife was watching over my shoulder as this video was running and from the sound of her questions, I might be building a table very similar to this. She loved it as well~!
Thank you so much! The link to the plans are available in the description!
my first furniture i made is kitchen cabinet.
That is awesome!
Great looking table, but I would not want to have to move it. I try to design everything I build so that it breaks down into flat pieces for moving. Sometimes that means screws, but sometimes I find a more creative way of doing it. Did I mention how much I hate moving big bulky pieces of furniture?
Thank god you wont have to move it!
The top comes off easily and that is by far the bulk of the weight. Once that is off the base moves "easily". It will definitely be a challenge.
I'll take the taper off cuts to use as shims for my CNC :) Awesome table brother
Thanks man! That's smart!
Great table and great video!!
Thanks so much!
I like the explanations. Nice, informative, entertaining video. You could take out one step in your leg taper by doing it all on the jointer and smoothing with the hand plane.
Thanks! I could just do it all in the smoothing plane but that would take even longer. The bandsaw speeds up the process.
@@CoffeyCustomBuilds As you say, the hand planes takes too long. The jointer method is very quick though. czcams.com/video/7QPWzDthwQ4/video.html
Amazing video Mike I always look forward to your videos I love how you explain what you are doing in your videos. And you make some really amazing stuff keep up the great work. And I love all the humor you add to your video as a new woodworker I’ll have to make sure that when I work with ash that the ash holes are tight lol 😂so the peace go together tight 😂
🤣🤣 couldn't be happier that you enjoyed it!
Oh I definitely enjoy your videos I actually laughed out loud with this video and the ash hole line. But all joking aside as a new woodworker I find your videos to be the most helpful to learn from so Thank you for sharing your talents with us all.
@jimrosson6702 that's amazing! Thank you!
Love it
Thank you
I’m just here for the ash. Funny and well made video. 👍🏻👍🏻 Oh, and the table looks great too.
Side note: How do you get all these gorgeous panning shots of you working? Post editing, or do you have a camera man?
Camera man.
Thank you! And yeah, camera man/editor
I think it was the other way around, the plug looks like a domino (hence the name). Someone got lazy about naming the tool.
🤣🤣
Did you do anything with the end grain crack below the defect patch at 21:17?
Yes! I ended up doing a bowtie on the bottom. Didn't go into it as I've done so many on the channel but in hindsight should have!
I'm glad you ended up enjoying the build. I think breadboard ends would have ruined the look entirely.
It was going to have a very different look for sure. Different base. But yeah it's a nice table!
0:30 can you explain what is going on here? Are you walking away with the cutoff or the workpiece?
That's the workpiece. It's going to be the short stretchers
I’ve bought ash before and some pieces seemed yellow. Do I need to do a better job at selecting better pieces??
It does yellow but if you get whiter boards and do a white pigmented finish like I did it will look very nice
@@CoffeyCustomBuilds thank you for the info looks beautiful
Delivering “new born” furniture might make you a stork as well…😂
🤣🤣 I'm a table pediatrician
I hate it when my ash is draggin'
Gotta wax dat ash
I could make that too if i had a beard like that. 🧔♂️
🤣🤣
Busta Rhymes 😂😂😂
🤣🤣
We used to breed puppies. Then someone would buy them and they would go to a new home. Your table is like a puppy.
I'm a table breeder for sure 🤣
Like your builds. You humor is lame.
Wait till you see my video in tongue and groove.
