The part when you almost forgot to activate the elevator after the keycard, and the alien was just standing there behind the closing doors when you turned back, was absolutely terrifying
Words cannot describe how cool the 70s retro / cassette futurism aesthetic of this game is, especially in the medical section. I could marvel at it for hours. Ron Cobb was an absolute genius.
Fun fact, on the playstation version of this game the alien can hear you through the mic in the controller - if you start freaking out in a locker, *it'll know*
Those yellowy glowing rectangles in a 45 degree angle by the walls are maps by the way. They are usually found when you enter a new area. Also, a green light on a door or a locker or a smaller cabinet or a cupboard means it's accessible for you. A red light means, well, the opposite. EDIT You can also make multiple gadgets and if I were you, I'd stock up on medkits and noisemakers etc to make room for more components. If you want to take down a person silently, you can knock them down by sneaking behind them and hitting with the maintenance jack.
53:56 you don't have to read things in the terminals. Just select them once and they go into your log, and you can access your log while the game is paused.
Fun fact: It can hear you talk in your mic. Especially if it's close. 👀Don't run at all, walk or crouch. Using lockers and doors usually wont be heard unless the alien is literally in the room with you. It usually won't go into vents unless it hears you go into one, or sees you go into one. Using the blowtorch doesn't cause noise despite it being VERY noisy. It CAN'T enter floor vents through the floor openings, but can go to you via top vents in the floor vents. It cannot climb ladders, nor areas YOU have to climb. Don't get cocky though, if it sees a spot/opening, it'll take the route closest to you.
When the Xeno finally emerged from the vent in the that scene. "I was holding my breathe". Is exactly how I felt during the entire game. I had to legitimately take a puff of my Inhaler ever few encounters 😅😂 Keep up the great Lib and I hope you enjoyed this game as much as I. Also at 16:48.....AHHHHHHH
1:55:22 I guess you didn't hear when Waits told you that it was in a parking orbit around the gas giant and Marlow wouldn't hand over the codes to bring it in on auto.
oh god the way my gaze is drawn to the big ass glowing map screens on the walls like a moth to flame and Librarian just passes by it not even glancing at it for a second is driving me nuts lol
I remember watching a mini documentary on why the alien felt so dynamic and alive in this game. It went something along the lines of this. It has two AI controlling it, one ai knew where the player was at all times and would feed hints of varying levels depending on the difficulty of the game. The second and more important AI is responsible for actually controlling the xenos movements based on its sensory inputs and what the other AI is giving it
love how Chris just completely misses the requisitions android accidentally offing itself on the exposed wire, and doesn't even question where it went until he sees its corpse
To break down the magic that surrounds Alien: Isolation AI. The AI consists of several sub-AIs. Above all of them is the AI director, who knows where the player and the alien are. The director reacts to the player's behavior and then gives the alien AI instructions on how it should behave or which rooms it should go to. However, the exact position is never revealed. There are certain triggers for the alien's behavior. Above all, to prevent monotomy, which says it all. And even though I don't want to spoil it: The heartbeat sensor is the trigger and bait for the Alian.
I'm watching through these for the first time so I have no idea if you've finished the game yet (no spoilers I promise), and feel free to ignore me if you don't want gameplay advice, but a useful strategy for managing the xeno's movements that I learned from the speedrunning community is that you can put yourself somewhere the Xeno can't easily get to you like in a hospital room with an emergency lock, a room you can de-power the door with a rewire station, rooms sealed by manual or access tuner locks with only a vent access, up/down a ladder, or inside a vent (this one is the riskiest) and then use your wrench to hit the wall a few times to make noise and get the Xeno's attention. If it can't path to the noise location on foot it will run to the nearest ceiling vent to try pathing THAT way. Once it vents you can come out and go your merry way for a bit until it drops back down again.
seems you've run into a issue with the kill animation sound, to fix it you have to use nvidia control panel and go to the program settings to find alien isolation then scroll down to find max frame rate, turn max frame rate on and set the frames to 60fps then vertical sync off. with that done you can hear Amanda's amazing painful screams and the aliens sound effect, its worth it!. that's if you have access to nvidia control panel.
Librarian I hope you can do a 2nd playthrough on RE7s main story on Madhouse difficultly cause they change up a lot of encounters and there's new encounters with Jack and item placement is always random and you encounter late game enemies earlier in the game. Hell I ran into those 4 legged molded very quickly
Hello Mr. Librarian, I would just like to say, that after a sudden spike in survival games, and predicting 4 of your recent letsplays with no input of my own [[Rain World, Subnautica, Resident Evil 7, and Alien Isolation]] I now feel the need to suggest a game myself. I would REALLY love to see you play The Forest / Sons of the Forest. Both games are similar in gameplay, however Sons of the Forest has more in depth gameplay and story. It would be really cool to see you play these games, and I hope this comment reaches you.
I think you need to make your quieter or the game louder. When I turn up the volume to be more immersed in the game, your voice is so loud I'm force to turn the volume back down again
58:00 you really need to stop complaining every single time you die in a game, it’s tiring This was 100% your fault, you can see drool dripping from any vents the xeno os going to ambush from
Thats why I hate when somebody (Librarian this time) records the whole game at once because we can't advise anything in the comments (even if he rarely reads them) like that you can update you map using big glowing white things on the walls, yeah, this knowledge you acquire on your own, game doesn't teach you that for some reason.
i mean at the same time, doesnt that make the experience of playing t the first time more natural for the lets player? sure we get some frustration due to mechanics not being understood, but we also get the satisfaction of watching him *learn* how to survive
So just a heads up, using distractions like flares and noisemakers can really help, but if you use them too often on the Xenomorph, it will eventually learn that they are just distractions 🥲 Also you should never sprint if theres even a chance the Xenomorph is around lol

Not that being the console I have the game on
You can also turn that off I'm fairly sure because these features suck if you're not playing games confortably in a private room.
@@Oznerock also pretty certain it's only enabled on the highest difficulty
Seeing librarian turn on the motion sensor with the alien in the room freaks me out so much, it can hear you damnit
The librarian: there is no save anywhere
Save: beebs loudly so it clearly can be heard in the background, signaling that it’s close by

he literally looked directly at one too like-

I scream at the tv every time...I never walk around always crouched
This is a lot of good advice that he should see
No need to backseat, just let him play the game and learn as he goes
You should know, the motion detector actually makes detectable noise

About the microphone detection, that feature was console only. PC version that Librarian is playing does not have that.
