    And 3 roller test would be pretty simple;
    Subaru has drum style handbrake. You can engage it just a little, to vector the torque forward (and simulate rear LSD / help it work).
    Also, you could just hit the brake a little with your left foot a little to lock the spinning tire and vector a bit of torque to the left

      These are the things which VDC should do and that's the point of the test. Besides - many drivers tried the footbrake and handbrake tricks, never worked.

    What is the cost of, from factory, putting 2 clutch/friction plates inside a diff.. ? that can be pushed gradually against each other..
    All of these struggles and problems gone in an instant.

    • @bencemuller7919
      @bencemuller7919 Před 7 měsíci

      Honestly, how often the customers facing with an absolute zero friction? The result is between zero and the statistik error. Plus the zero friction in real life is pure ice (quite rare), on ice a smart person using studded tire, which have plenty of grip. Without proper tires isn't any magic, you won't have traction.
      From manufacturing side plates would cost around 20-30 euro/diff for nothing in their perpective, so they will save it as profit.

    • @martinsvensson6884
      @martinsvensson6884 Před 7 měsíci

      @@bencemuller7919 Doesnt matter if its not 0 friction. Its enought that its low. Which happens all the time in countries that have any kind of real winter.
      The "zero" friction is very common at many red light intersections. Which sometimes annoyingly happens to be on a slight incline also. Where cars then polishes the packed snow to far less friction than on an ice skating ring.
      But sure, most traction control systems can handle most of those situations today when one wheel still has some traction. But the early ones were often pretty bad when there was a big difference in friction between the wheels, especially if there was some kind of resistance added. Like some deeper snow in front of the other wheels.
      Exactly.. $20-$30 is nothing. Coffee money as we say in Sweden. I would gladly pay that extra fee. And far more.
      Where it probably will be the most beneficial though is in any parking space that hasnt been plowed yet.

    • @bencemuller7919
      @bencemuller7919 Před 7 měsíci

      @@martinsvensson6884 in Sweden you are allowed to use studded tires, which can solved basically every situation if you are driving your car not only be a passenger in it.
      20-30 euro/diff sounds like coffee money, but think about it as you are producing 100000 or even millions of them, they're always calculating like this.
      I can tell you, every car manufacture have a department full with engineers with only one purpose, save money, they're employing 10 engineers for save 1 eurocent on an intake design. In that perpective the 20 euro is like an eurojackpot.

    • @martinsvensson6884
      @martinsvensson6884 Před 7 měsíci

      @@bencemuller7919 Yes I've always used studded tires in winter. Never tried anything else.
      Have you ever driven on packed snow that has been polished over and over in an intersection? No you havent or your wouldnt try to claim that just adding studded tires will solve that problem :)
      Traction control will solve most cases if one wheel still has some traction. But I've already explained the cases where its not enough. Most benefit in real world use would be in unplowed parking spaces.
      I would gladly pay more than coffee money to solve it.
      Exactly, there are a lot of cars made... and I would pay far more than $30.. so the earnings potential for any car company offering the solution is very large. Its very stupid not taking advantage of that AND solving a problem at the same time.
      Cost cutting is something completely different. Its irrelevant to this discussion. I'm talking about adding equipment/features. That's where car companies EARN money. Not lose. So its a win/win.
