One of the few shows that got better as it went on. 11 years and it still was as sharp and as funny as ever, it helps that the additions of Frasier, Woody, Lilith and Rebecca made the show better and that the actors and writers were just so top notch that they didn't run out of steam. I don't laugh out loud a lot but Cheers along with a lot of old school sitcoms make me laugh out loud and hard, wish there were comedies like this today and I'm 23 lol
Frasier and Lilith made it better. Woody and Rebecca weren't as good as Coach and Diane, though. They were just lucky all the other characters carried them.
I love Lilith, despite her snobbery.😌👍 👃⬆ Though I do love the character of Frasier, I so enjoy the fact that we got to see more of, his then ex-wife, Lilith, do more apparences on Frasier.😃👍👀
5:45 I loved that scene where Rebecca breaks down and then Sam runs to comfort her. It was her reaching out to him that did it. They said a few times they were best friends which they both need to be since their lovers/soul mates were nuts and working in hollywood or slogging through a vow of poverty.
This may be an unpopular opinion but I've always preferred the Sam\Rebecca dynamic to Sam\Diane, though I really like Sam and Diane's chemistry the relationship Sam and Rebecca had was a bit more complex and interesting for me because like you said they were best friends who were both so shallow and vein that they were kindred spirits so they have this strange and funny bond that you don't see on television.
Season 5 finishing up pretty soon on DECADES, but unlike 35 years ago, I'll stay "a regular" rather than just an occasional "drop in." I took the end of Sam and Diane hard, but it's finally time I "move on" and see how Cheers moved on and still thrived. The champagne may be gone, but still plenty of beer to enjoy!
It was a necessary changed that saved the show. Sam and Diane ran its course and Shelley Long was ready to go making room for the great Kirstie Alley to come in as Rebecca and the show reaching new heights of comedic genius and perfect ensemble chemistry.
As well as the most grounded one besides Sam. I always thought Frasier was perfect to do because he was funny enough but also grounded enough to be the lead of a show.
It just seems like a very pale imitation of Frasier to me. I sometimes watch an episode here and there. Maybe it was original for its time. But the stock archetypes (the dumb one, the womaniser, the smart one), as well as the tedious will-they-wont-they Sam/Diane and then Sam/whatsherface plotlines are a chore. And Diane is insufferable, as a person. TV has come a long way.
Cockoff Gewgle. You're entitled to your own opinion even though it's the minority clearly but idk why you're here if you hate the show so much? Maybe witty, sharp and character driven humor isn't your thing. But, honestly you can't tell me any sitcom today compares to Cheers like at all lol the "comedies" we get today feel like they're written by twelve year-olds. And lack the chemistry and star power of shows like this one, Taxi, Barney Miller, Cosby, Family Ties, Night Court, Golden Girls, Frasier, Seinfeld etc.
Rewatching seasons 6-11 of Cheers reminds me how much Ted Danson benfitted when Shelley Long left the show. The first five seasons he was kinda just one half of a will they\won't they relationship and the straight man to Diane and everyone else but once Shelley left and Kirstie came in he became a great character with some of the funniest moments out of everyone. It's no wonder he got two well deserved Emmys for Best Lead Actor in a Comedy Series in the final few seasons.
So I just found out that when my dad was a kid he met ted Danson at some sort of sports game, and ted asked him to play checkers with him but my dad turned him down, and apparently ted danson was all surprised or something😂
Does anyone remember the episode he joined some lodge? I think it’s the same one where Sam is renting the bar out for a huge group but only a handful of people show up.
A teetotaler pirate walks into Cheers, and says to Sam: "Arrgh, I'd love a glass of your finest orange juice - gotta keep me from getting scurvy" Sam replies, "scurvy? you do realize we live in a country so developed, scurvy is non-existent." The pirate replies, "less talk, more OJ".
I was a live-in nanny for two young children. The mother had an older son from another marriage. We were watching this clip and he asked me who that guy was (Johnny Carson). I replied he was the host of The Tonight Show. Poor kid, only knew about Jay Leno!
I've got the volume turned up all the way and I can barely hear it and I'm not a deaf person I don't have hearing aids and I can hear other videos quite well if it's amazing your volume is barely there.
Marlo Jenkins I liked Diane but it was Shelley's own choice to leave a major hit show and sadly her career was never the same. Even though I liked Diane a lot I much preferred Rebecca and how she and Sam developed a real complex and deep friendship that went beyond sex or fighting like Sam and Diane was based off of. If you stopped watching that's your business but clearly you were the only one since that show never left the top ten and even reached number 1 in the whole country after Shelley left.
The final few seasons of Cheers was some of the worst shows in TV history. In fact, the last two seasons were so bad, they were absolutely unwatchable.

You're oldschool. I am too. Never change, my man.
Frasier and Lilith made it better. Woody and Rebecca weren't as good as Coach and Diane, though. They were just lucky all the other characters carried them.
drlee2 couldn’t disagree more
Peter Siddiqui I agree. Coach and woody were my favourite. Coach was just a great character and so lovable.
It didn't get better. It sucked ass from start to finish.
Carson knows talent , has brought us some of the best of the best...and threw cliff off,out asap!!! Perfect!!!😅🤣😂
I love the cemistry between Kelsey grimmer and Bebe Neworth , Lilith sternan , the woman makes morticha Addams looks like a member hell’s angels
Lilith was a beast😄
My favorite TV show cheers
1:57 That jump over the bar!
I love Lilith,despite her snobbery.😌👍
👃⬆
Though I do love the character of Frasier, I so enjoy the fact that we got to see more of, his then ex-wife, Lilith, do more apparences on Frasier.😃👍👀
I liked Lillith more than Frasier
Same. Her timing and execution were perfect. And that episode when she let her hair down 👌👌
Mrs Clavin was a Legend for tolerating her offspring
Lilith is better than a fart
I was talking to Gugi always gets me cracking my ass off 😄
I think cheers is a great show they really are great friends which are hard to come by

I forgot how good it was!

It's easy to see why Frasier was chosen as the focus of the spinoff. As Cheers went on, he was the funniest character on the series.
As well as the most grounded one besides Sam. I always thought Frasier was perfect to do because he was funny enough but also grounded enough to be the lead of a show.
Good point. Frasier was a very stable character (relatively speaking) that already had a life and interests outside of Cheers.
It just seems like a very pale imitation of Frasier to me.

Frasier wasn't even the funniest character on his own show.
I absolutely love the scene with Carla meeting the fake Diane.
I laughed for hours the first time I saw it hahahahahaha I still do!!
Her worst nightmare come true LOL
I loved this show

Frasier, Lilith, and Norm are my favorite characters
Great show
I love watching cheers
These were choice clips, Retroboy. Nicely done 👍
I don't know why , but the funniest moments were with Frasier,,, Calling Dr Daniels HAHAHA
Altijd leuk en gezellig om naar te kijken
Greatest show on Earth.
@7:50 - the scene that sticks in my memory more than any from Cheers ... "abandon ship!".
The retired umpire who ejects Ted from his own bar. "I don't know, it could have been a ball..."
God bless you!!!
Frasier was one if not the funniest character of them all.
When you could understand what Cliff had to say, he wasn't bad either.😂🤣😂
For me it's Frasier, Woody, Rebecca and Sam after Diane left that were the funniest characters to me but they were all great.
love this ty
I forgot how good tv used to be....
Greatness!
Lilith teaches Rebecca how to be more businesslike, how to walk and talk. It's funny!
Best show ever - still funny now 2022
I didn't realize Nanny G was introduced on Cheers.
I always loved her sax. Bought all the albums.
Amen!
So I just found out that when my dad was a kid he met ted Danson at some sort of sports game, and ted asked him to play checkers with him but my dad turned him down, and apparently ted danson was all surprised or something😂
5:14 and 7:55 The way they all run looking at Lillith😂😂
Best show ever no doubt
Frasier actually had the hottest girl. Especially when she let her hair down.
long live the ice queen lol
WE SHOWED 'EM DUDE!
Old Account snowed*
The cutest part in "Cheers"!!
NORM !!
Frasier waiting in the wings ready to dole out some drunken wisdom always cracked me up lol Great show..
Does anyone remember the episode he joined some lodge? I think it’s the same one where Sam is renting the bar out for a huge group but only a handful of people show up.
7:40 or so ... 7:52 holy hell I haven't laughed that much in years
A teetotaler pirate walks into Cheers, and says to Sam:
"Arrgh, I'd love a glass of your finest orange juice - gotta keep me from getting scurvy"
Sam replies, "scurvy? you do realize we live in a country so developed, scurvy is non-existent."
The pirate replies, "less talk, more OJ".
It really does feel like CZcams let's you time travel sometimes.
That really was some of the best shit from those last few seasons. Nicely done 👍
I assume it's his natural accent. He uses it all the time for Disney animated movies.
What episode is 3.53???
You botched my joke, Johnny Carson. I wonder how many nbc executives told him that
I was a live-in nanny for two young children. The mother had an older son from another marriage. We were watching this clip and he asked me who that guy was (Johnny Carson). I replied he was the host of The Tonight Show. Poor kid, only knew about Jay Leno!
Carla was verbally abusive. Diane and Cliff took so much: what were the writers thinking...
They were thinking it's funny which it is. Lighten up.
Uploaded back in the day when everyone could lip read and closed captioning was but a dream.
i will say that only this show and blackadder got better the more they made.
No thnx.
Who's the tough broad giving Norm the full court press?
Frasier is hilarious 😂
Oh look at that, I've watched twice and left pretty much the same comment twice. See you in a few months I guess 😄
Ever notice how things would go wrong whenever they wandered away from the bar?
@CrazyMJFan1 The beer is always greener I believe
What season.and episode of cheers is it at 3;08 and also starting at 4:37? Please tell me. thanks!
+Bunny23723 That's from the tenth season episode One Hugs, The Other Doesn't.
Sean ware: Thank you for answering.

dial a prayer?
for a booty call with your ex lol
... „calling dr Daniels, jack Daniels“ will be used in the future by me
2:56 Is that Emma Thompson??!! Wow...from a bit part to multiple Academy Award winning actress...
1:07 DIANE...
Hello Everyone.
NORM! Norman......
I Walter my mamá back
Friends could never come close to this. Neither could Seinfeld.
True.. but Friends and Seinfeld are 90s staples
No doubt!
Friends sucks
i blame equal parts Friends and Survivor
I've got the volume turned up all the way and I can barely hear it and I'm not a deaf person I don't have hearing aids and I can hear other videos quite well if it's amazing your volume is barely there.
Theresa Petekiewicz it's you, I can hear fine.
I've got hearing loss and can hear this just fine. Best see someone about getting your ears checked.
I have to admit I think it’s known that you are either a Diane person or a Rebecca person. I am a Rebecca person I find the show depressing with Diane
Not nearly enough of Carla. Without her, what would they have done?
Her character was overdone
No sound
all i had to do was show up........i mean my name said cheers was here
Not made like that anymore. ..
@miley4eva21 "Rebecca's Lover...Not!"
555 6792
😂😂😂
When the whole bar ran to the back!😂
Will never understand how woody was ever invented...beyond stupid!!!
555 - 6792 🎶
555-6792.
5556792.

Lauren Ba'call is no substitute for Shelly Long..
Another 10-20 years, and all this banned, for whatever reason of being unsuitable for audience..
Nope
I liked Cheers best when Shelly "Diane Chambers' was on the show. When she left i stopped watching it.
Marlo Jenkins me too.
When Shelly Long departed the "Cheers" TV-sit com I promptly discontinued watching the program.
Diana was absolutely better than Rebecca but Woody, Frazier and Lillth made up for her loss.
The final few seasons of Cheers was some of the worst shows in TV history. In fact, the last two seasons were so bad, they were absolutely unwatchable.
Can't argue with that.
Seems like Lilith and Frasier hello that show together
I know people wont agree with me on this. But Cheers dosent hold up. Its just not that funny. Neither was Friends.
I tend to agree. Cheers was huge in its day. Today's comedies seem to have a much different "style." "All In The Family" holds up better than Cheers.
Doesn't hold up? You're certifiable.
Have you watched the show?
I think 'Cheers' is a much better sitcom and more cleverly written than 'Friends' and the mind numbing sitcoms they put out today.
Mark Rocha Oh, shut up. You're probably some Adam Sandler fan.
Mark Rocha Very mature.
In the final few seasons of Cheers, there was nothing funny, nothing at all. It stopped being funny after season five. After that, I yawned during season six, then found something better, watching paint dry. It was more entertaining than Cheers.
bullshit
Screw you!
Go buy yourself a sense of humor.
I agree with you. The last 100 episodes were terrible.
If you did not like it why you watching it on you tube?
you lie!!!!!
YOU DID LIKE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
G O T C H A !!!!!!
Kirstie Alley spoiled the series
