Growing up, Tet is the ultimate time if you are a kid. It was even better, when fire crackers was allowed. I remembered everyone hang out on new year eve or midnight, then the whole city would go off with everyone home lighting up crackers.

I decided to go to Phu Quoc Island for Tet. The water is so clean and beautiful here. The water in Da Nang is not clear because it's a city of millions of people. I'm not saying it isn't worth a visit I'm just saying if you want to do Watersports, that ain't the place

what you're showing on this video is actually the pre-Têt right ? like the 2-3 days leading to Têt. Because actually at Têt, and the following whole week is very quiet everywhere.

I'm just curious, do you enjoy being in da Nang during this time more than hcm city, or is it because of work that you're here?

I am coming to Vietnam for 2 months in 2024. Starting with 5-6 weeks in Da Nang and then 2-3 weeks in Hanoi to do side trips including riding the Ha Giang Loop. Lots of people have said #1 It's too cold in late January and #2 Don't come during Tet as everyone leaves and the city closes up. What do you recommend? Should I come Feb & Mar or after Tet to mid-March?

Bonne chance.

If you teach English in Vietnam or any other country, you should expect to lower your living standard by a huge amount if you come from a western country and live a middle class lifestyle. Vietnam is only cheap if you live like a complete bum and eat toxic street food. It's maybe overall 15% cheaper than in the west if you live by the same standards as in the west. But a teacher's salary, even though considerably higher than the average viet salary, won't be enough to live the same standard you had in the west unless you were living in poverty.
