“Well, the human body isn’t covered under insurance”
Fucking gold 😂
Put that on a T-shirt
It’s a big deal to have someone advocate for you in hospital in any country. So glad you could be there for Hanna. Wishing her and all the cats well!
The Ronin car chase scenes are super interesting. Look into how it was filmed. Frankenheimer (director) got right hand drive cars, built the interior to appear left hand, than had a professional driver actually drive as the actor pretended to drive. All shoots were at actual speed and the look on the actors faces during the scenes are because of how scared they were being passenger to a pro driver
Apparently Skipp Suduth (Larry -S8) did his own driving. Pure gold movie, and probably the only one able to stand there with Bullitt.
Thats a lesson, random kittens found covered in flees and ticks need to be quarantined… No matter how careful you are!
So, when I was a medic in the army, part of what I was responsible for around our base, when not out on patrol/op, was working with the Infantrymen to keep stray dogs/cats off the base. We had K9 that we used for finding bombs, very important in Ramadi, and no chance was taken with exposure to stray animals. The strays can carry so many diseases, both threatening to the K9 and the humans, and honestly a lot of people don’t really understand how bad they can be!
Can’t believe the Smokey and the bandit trans am wasn’t on the lists, one of my favourite because I was 6 when the movie came out.
I think you’re headed in the right direction, but Burt’s rocket powered Trans Am in “Hooper” might top it.
Still can’t believe they left out the Interceptor from “Mad Max”, probably the most badass movie car, ever.
All depends on age I think. I wouldn't be born for 5 more years when that Trans-Am was transporting beer. By the time I saw it (around 8?) I was very confused as to why beer would be delivered by such a manner when it's just available at the stores. - Zack

This is a wild story. I'm so happy y'all Hanna is good. Typhus is no joke.
Top five movie cars for me...
5. MIB: Ford LTD
4. Johnny English: Rolls Royce V16 Phantom Coupe
3. Johnny English (again): Aston Martin V8 Vantage
2. Ghostbusters: Ectomobile
1. Mad Max: XB Ford Falcon Coupe, "Pursuit Special"
Had to put the Mad Max car as number one, I'm an Aussie and had a 4 door XC GXL Fairmont as my first car. I even grew up where most of the car scenes were filmed.
I also chose exclusively cars that don't represent typical road cars. "Movie cars" is custom cars for films, not just cars that happened to appear in movies.
None of those are particularly good films (except for Ghostbusters), but the cars made them so much more.
Just started rewatching the Mad Max films, and I noticed that between the 1st and 2nd films it’s almost like the cars themselves tell part of the story what is happening in the world. The first film all the Interceptors are police cars, but in the 2nd film you see them now being used by the gangs as well as other vehicles. Of course the gang members maybe stole these cars, similar to Nightrider in the first film, but also, perhaps as the government collapsed, the police started forming their own gangs, so perhaps some of these gangs are composed of former police. That’s just speculation of course, but I really enjoy how the cars feel like such a part of the story and world building in many ways, it almost feels like the cars are a star of the film series.
Also, about 10 minutes into the first film and I was googling how much these cars are and can I import one lol
@@joeracer302 It was definitely all about the machines and the storyline was almost secondary... But it filled a niche at the time and became a global phenomena.
True story I don't often tell (because who'd believe me) my bass and guitar tutor I had as a high school kid went to arts college with Mel Gibson. They were housemates and remain good friends until this day.
I didn't know that, until about 8 years ago when I went to Bruce's 60th birthday party at his home in rural Victoria and Mel was actually there. He was super cool, spent some speaking to everyone at the small party and seemed genuinely interested in talking with whoever he was engaged with. We spent a considerable amount of time chatting, as I had some dreams in the performing arts scene and little did I know Bruce had been telling him all about the work I'd been chipping away at. Mel actually put me in touch with some people who have ended up changing the course of my entire life. I owe him a huge debt, but he would rather I didn't mention it I'm sure.
Anyway, the weirdest thing of all was, the place my teacher lives in is literally on one of the roads seen in the Mad Max film and just down the road from the town of Clunes which is the town the gang goes to and collects the coffin from. Mel was telling us tales about the filming and it was a real blast from the past for him and absolutely the most surreal night of my life.
Up until that point.
True story, I swear on my child's life.
@@joeracer302 And those Ford coupes are getting real, real pricey nowadays.
Check out the XB coupe build Cam Waters (Aussie race car driver) just did. It's got a V8 supercar engine from Innov8 engines in it, with a fully fabbed pro street chassis and a summernats elite hall level body to match.
Thing's a beast, way better than XBoss in my opinion, because it's been built to drive.
Man I want an Innov8 built engine for my CAV GT40 daily driver build. I think they'll be getting an order placed in a few months, they've got outstanding history with wild daily drivers and top tier racecars. We have quite the engineering scene down unda.
The LTD was sick! - Zack
@@TheSmokingTirePodcast Agent K told him not to touch that button, until he told him to do it.
Remember seeing that in the cinema when I was 10 and have wanted one since. The MIB mods might be a little pricey though, don't even know where to get element 115. 🤔
The Bad Boys 911 turbo is definitely part of the reason i am obsesses with Porsches as an adult. What a car, driven like a bat out of hell in the movie
I used to work at McDonald’s, and to make 1,200 nuggets would only take (cook time) 30 minutes. 4 baskets, each holds 50 nuggs, taking about 5 minutes per basket. You’d probably need 3 people to get it done, but you could have 1,200 nuggets done in under an hour. 😂🤙
If you've never been "last man standing" when everyone else is sick and you're taking care of them around the clock, it's greeeeeeat! 😂
The Wraith - Dodge M4S
Weird movie. Great car!
Def my favorite movie car.
Also had a thing for the Daytona in that movie (which makes much more sense to 8 year old me than 46 year old me, lol)
Sorry to hear you boys & family have been through it the last few weeks, glad to hear everyone's on the mend now!
Great pick of movie cars, most of which I would have picked... with honourable mentions of Paul Walkers Skyline from F&F, and the Ferrari 250 California Spyder from Ferris Bueller's Day Off.
Correction: Deniro's stunt car was driven from the other side while he pretended to drive. That was truly a neck of fear.
Another great episode, thanks guys
1. 1968 Mustang GT390 - Bullitt/1968 Charger R/T - Bullitt
2. 1958 Plymouth Fury - Christine
3. 77 Pontiac Trans-Am - Smokey & The Bandit
4. 55 Chevy - 2 Lane Blacktop
5. 1970 Porsche 917 - LeMans
I'm glad Hanna is OK now. My best movie cars: 1. Aston Martin DB5 from Goldfinger, 2. Truck from Duell 3. KITT 4. General Lee 5. Herbie
Some movie cars that come to mind:
James Bond Aston & BMW 750
Italian Job Mini Cooper(s)
General Lee
Twister Dodge Ram & Jeep J10
Ghost Busters Ambulance
Need For Speed BMW M3 GTR (honorable mention)
How about the 1961 Ferrari 250 GT California from Ferris bueller day off. Shits iconic!
True!
Wasn’t the car in the movie a replica though?
@@jowarrior yes it was
Top 5...
5. "Shaker Run" Pontiac Trans-Am
4. "Good Guys Wear Black" Porsche Turbo
3. "Mad Max" Black Interceptor
2. "Bullitt" Mustang
1. "The Gumball Rally" 427 Cobra CSX 3243
A few years ago I saw a 94 or 95 base Mustang convertible in green with a tan top at a Polish Naval base. That was the last car I was expecting to see there.
Top movie cars
Eleanor - Gone in 60
Supra or Charger, maybe RX-7 - F&F 1
Minis - Italian Job AND Bourne 1
Delorean is so obvious but ok.
Porsche 911/Cobra 427 - Bad Boys 1
575M - Bad Boys 2 lol (kinda kidding, but their car choices are mint)
Cadillac Cien(?) - The Island
I think the term is advocate. There definitely needs to be someone with you helping communicate how you are feeling, and what you want out of your care. Learned this with my dad and grandparents, even when my wife was pregnant. Makes a difference in your care.
I was really hoping to hear the Dodge Turbo Interceptor from the Wraith as a top 5 movie car. I wish they could have actually made it.
Matt, you're not being a pain in the ass, you're being an advocate.
Mad Max Interceptor, Deathproof Nova, Corvette Summer (Corvette), American Graffiti Deuce, California Kid 34 Ford
I have a rare disorder where im missing 25% of a normal persons mitochondrial DNA,, and my father has had cancer and a stem cell tranplant. My brother and mother were and are constant advocates, and when you deal with the healthcare system, that support can mean the difference between life and death. And perhaps this is a lesson in being mindful about stray animals and the hidden dangers of bringing one into your home. so happy everyone is on the mend.
Top 5 Movie cars
-Wraith
-F&F 1 Charger
-christine
- Born 2 race red turbo buick
-2 lane blacktop 55'
43:37 It's 40 years, Matt.
Has to be the ‘$hit box Dodge’ from Blues Brothers for me, so iconic
My list;
5) Bullitt, Mustang
4) Blues Brothers, Bluesmobile
3) Spy Who Loved Me, Esprit
2) Hooper, Trans Am
1) Mad Max, Pursuit Special (V8 Interceptor)
Honorable Mention) Christine, Fury
I have to go Die Another Day for movie cars. Jaguar, Aston… none of them actually exist as far as engine/body, but they are great.
Speaking of the chase scene in the Bullitt, the ending, when they are chasing eachother on the highway is super similar to the chase in the movie Drive (2011). In Drive the protagonist is the one escaping but the imagery is very similar and it also has a Mustang, only a modern one, I think from 2011.
The flake in the Mazda Red is called liquid metal, it's an ultra fine flake. Very expensive.
No Mad Max V8 Interceptor!?
No Bond cars? So many options.
The car from Ronin was converted to right side drive so he could pretend to drive. They did that so they could get those reactions from him.
Since Matt is such a fan of Demolition Man, does he have the 3 seashells in his bathroom?
5) Han’s RX-7, Tokyo Drift
4) Herbie
3) 911 from Death Race
2) Mirth Mobile,Wayne’s World
1) Mutt Cuts van, Dumb & Dumber
Boiler Room and Talladega Nights are two movies that I have to watch if I see them when flipping through to see what’s on.
Dang why did Volvo's have to catch a stray😂, there is a large community out there actually for the 80's cars
1. Back to the Future DeLorean
2. Ecto One - Ghostbusters
3. General Lee
4. Tumbler - Batman Begins
5. Bandit Trans Am
Having almost lost my wife a few times in the last few years having someone at the hospital to help is vital. I wasn't always available to be there because I have small kids but my in-laws are saints for the help while my wife was in the hospital
Hope everything is going better now!
Mitsubishi uses very expensive pearls on the Mirage colors. Another reason they get totaled in minor accidents.
Damn, those found cats are always trouble, but, I totally understand. Monty's a cutie and so glad the whole family is getting better. One sick cat is PIA. Four....yikes.
I can't wait to get Antique plates for my hooptie Boxster because the total value for property taxes (here) is set at $500. I should save at least $1 or 2 on my taxes. I think it's also exempted from emissions and annual inspection too. Which is just less PIA, as far as I'm concerned.
My favorite part about this podcast is all the stomach noises picked up my the mic… but seriously, glad everyone’s feeling better!
bro thats an average week as a parent
How about either gone in 60 seconds Elenor? Sadly the FF Supra is up there and iconic as well. Supras were so cheap before that.
Lots of T-bones around here in situations like with that prius. Lots of shopping centers with entrances/exits right before intersections and those middle lane turn lane sections. Sometimes people are TOO nice and let cars out and other cars can't see them, and ya those impatient drivers making a left at the light get into that turn area WAY too soon...
Concrete islands help with this.
It was very wise to keep the kitten quarantined in a spare bathroom (and very advisable to anyone looking to take a street cat/dog in) but damn, bites are very scary for this very reason. I got scratched when I took my cat in and in retrospect should've gotten at least a tetanus shot.
Regardless, it's a noble cause so props to you both. The kitten's in good company now.
I completely understand the math behind speeding not getting me there that much faster. But I don’t care. I don’t like driving slower, 75-80 just feels a lot better than 65-70. Especially out here in the heartland where most of our limits are 70mph.
I went to the local mall last week and Tesla has about 200 brand new cars just sitting in the parking lot because they cant sell them. And this is in the San Francisco bay area where people have tons of money and EV adoption is really high.
Same thing in KC. Literally got a whole new lot by drs office a mile from the dealer just to park them as overflow
What evsv did you land on for charging your Mustang?
For me the top movie car will always be the Merc from the movie Cobra with Sly stallone.
In regards to your traffic math discussion... For some (although probably not the Prius dude), it has nothing to do with how fast you need to get somewhere, it is the rush of pretending you are on a race track and just the thrill of driving fast. I bet in more cases than not, it has little to do with time but the thrill and experience of driving fast.
OMG. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, hello? The Bond Lotus submarine? Herbie?
What a lousy week. That cat is trouble.
Delomition man....how do they use the 3 shells ???? Hahhaha
I think mine would be
The Bluesmobile from The Blues Brothers
The Yellow 32 from American Graffiti
The black Merc convertible from Grease
The Time Machine from BTTF
And the Ferrari 355 from The Rock
I've been using /tire for my autotempesting, is /tst new? Or just the podcast-specific one? Is one preferable to the other on your end?
Somebody already mentioned it, but my favorite movie car is the Dodge M4S concept from The Wraith.
I didn't know who made it until much later, when the internet arrived, but i think 8 year old me may have been groomed to accept Chrysler's 90's cab-forward design language, lol.
didnt Larry clarify that it was one specific Higher end trim Outback or something that had good paint? He said wrx's have shitty paint.
Expendables, Sly drives a modded old truck that is TOUGH
Its like that here in Canada, Matt. You need an advocate for you in this health care system. Saw it first hand when my mother passed away. You need that voice unfortunately.
The medical term is No kid hyperchondria.
“1984… 30 years ago.” Oh Matt, nothing makes you feel older than realizing you’re a decade off.
Never bring street cats into your place.
1984 was 40 years ago😵💫
How do you guys not include Elenor from Gone In 60 Seconds. One of if not THE most beautiful movie car of all time. I saw a replica of it at SEMA and it’s a beautiful car.
Elenor’s have been SO reproduced after that movie, they kinda became almost boomer-chic. When I see an Elenor, I associate it with late 90’s early 2000’s discovery channel resto mods.
Matt’s gone on record that he’s not a fan of Elenor’s (on Rogan I think), and he’s 100% spot on, in my opinion. The Bullitt mustang is where it’s at.
Cat scratch fever!
Interesting, Subaru paint, huh? My experience is that is some deeply deeply thin, chippy, weak paint.
Jaguar from Money Talks
Glad your wife is alright!
The gadgetmobile lincoln
Hey guys, real piece of garbage here. The classic plates are way cheaper in some places. I had a rusted out '92 pickup in high school with classic plates because it was about 1/3 the registration fee and no emissions.
The real one that makes you shake your head is seeing "Classic American" on an 98 civic. It's either 20 or 25 years old. I'm getting ready to take a long walk off a short pier when I see classic plates on a 2001
Is Monte a outdoor cat or indoor
🧑🏾💻I'm here
Just say the flying update for the Delorean is coming in a future update and it's a $250,000 extra.
Musk can do it..
Something nasty is going around. Bad friends andrew Santino had a real nasty stomach virus too. My sis a few months ago had something similar, had to get iv
52:29 God that thing is literally sex on wheels. I could stare at it for hours
You think your healthcare is a struggle..... i live in Canada. its a hot mess. Can't wait to move to the US. I waited 2 years for a gall bladder surgery.
Don’t tell commies these things. They never listen or they know and just want more commie shit
Healthcare in the US is great, if you can afford it, and often people think they can afford it, right up until they get really sick later in life and healthcare costs wipe out a lifetime of savings.
@@joeracer302 yea it’s super expensive because anyone can walk in and receive healthcare. This includes illegals who invade the country. So the people who pay for insurance and out of pocket are stuck covering the invaders cost.
@@joeracer302 Many Canadians are going to the US and paying out of pocket for healthcare services. That's how bad it is here. We are taxed to death, and get garbage services for it.
I hope you were saving your pennies for those two years. The average retail cost of gallbladder surgery in the US for those without insurance is a bit over $54,000. What type of gallbladder surgery do you need, such that it could be put off for two years and you are not dead? Is it worth $54,041 of your hard-earned money? That's US dollars, not Canadian.
Tf is a cat fever? 😂 f’n throw it away, get another one. It’s a cat. That’s like worrying about an ice cube melting. Get another one
I love how Matt acts like he hates the Cybertruck because it’s a piece of shit & not because EM sacked his wife lol 🤣🤣🤣
How about cars ?! Took way too long to get to the topic. 👎
I'm sorry, neither of you even mentioned Eleanor? Wth is wrong with you.
