I remember this game well. Weather was absolutely shitty, my brother and I were on our way up to Northern NE for a Pheasant hunting trip and listened on the radio. The ending was incredible!! Man you don't see games like this anymore.
I was at this game with my friend who had season tickets. When we were walking in, two Okie fans yelled were gonna kick your asses. We were in the end zone, I was wearing a Miami Dolphin poncho but I still got sopping wet on my legs It was miserable weather.
I was at the game. Things I remember: the stadium seats all covered in ice when we irrived. Calvin Jones was a beast in the 4th quarter. I helped bring down the goal post. They were greased. We broke them into pieces, and carried them to the steps of the capitol building.
This was a great game. Winner indoubt until late. I was there. 32 degrees pouring rain. Moved from west stadium under press box to sit with friends in north endzone. Soaking wet! Went to watering hole bar on O street and saw part of goal post being carried past the bar 3 hours after end of game.
Cool always wanted to see the completion of this game. Just remembered the intro was showing this old couple having Thanksgiving the day before in Omaha and then them driving to Lincoln for this game on Friday. Then midway thru the 1st Quarter had to leave and see the Adam's Family movie.
@Stephist Love that Musburger mentions once that it won't help them, then Vermeil brings it up again about 2 minutes later. I wonder if Musburger covered his mic and told him "uh, hey, Dick, seriously, it doesn't do OU any good. Get off it."
Miami 22, Neb 0 is a little over 4 weeks away. Put a real damper on the outcome of this game, but it shouldn't have. Osborne already had a significant losing bowl record. You think the cornholes would have been used to it.
I can't believe you are a OU fan. I have friends and co-workers from and in Oklahoma and have never heard such a little bitch like you talk crap about NU.
@@robjohnson8861 Who cares what school you graduated from, you didn't play for them. Their achievements are not yours, you have nothing to do with them. Someone soo eaten up and Trolling around with nothing else to do. Makes me laugh.
What did it take uncleTom Osborne to win a championship? Wait 18 yrs for Barry Switzer to leave OU, then wait another 5 yrs and let a felon run the ball for him. Oh the so stoic uncle Tom Osbourne!
Paul Ranallo: Pretty sure the bigger problem for Nebraska was they couldn't compete with the Florida teams whether they beat OU or not, and neither could OU during Switzer's run so your comment is invalid because the Florida teams didn't go anywhere. Nebraska figured out how to beat them and then dominate them. I'm also pretty sure the Florida teams had plenty of felons, but Nebraska didn't play Phillips for most of the season. A team winning every game by double digits clearly didn't need him. It's also quite clear that it's not easy to succeed at Nebraska. That's become blatantly obvious in recent years.
@@dadestarmysteries255 *"Figured out how to beat them and then dominate"* the FL teams Right! * FSU, NOT! * beat a FL team that didn't show up * Miami team that was beaten 29-0 and 34-13 in their 2 previous bowls.
I don't even understand your comment, Dr. Tom built one of the greatest college football dynasties of all time. How long did it take Napolean to win his wars? How long did it take Da Vinci to paint the Mona Lisa or the Last Supper? I don't know.....WHO CARES???!!!!
255-49-3, Three national titles. Could have had a fourth had he simply choosen to kick the extra point against Miami in '84 and he definitely should had because Nebraska had the disadvantage of being the road team. Could have had a fifth if the officials in the 1994 Orange Bowl had not been so partial to FSU (which they so clearly were). But, in the end, the offical number is 3 and it includes the Tommy Frazier lead 1995 Huskers which I would put up against any college team that ever took the field.......Also, you have to remember that Nebraska was often asked to play the .......lol........'neutral' bowl game on the opponents' site. They played Miami (IN MIAMI) 4 times over a 12 year period. They did win one and, as I said, could have likely tied another had they simply taken the tie. Still, this was INCREDIBLY UNFAIR to them. Always playing in the opponents home field. Total unfairness, yet Nebraska perservered and came shining through in the end.
These old games are great, thanks for bringing back the memories.

Went to this game with my brother. We froze our asses off and had a great time. Whiskey sure made the concession coke taste better.
Something rare from both teams nearly every year, no crying or sore losers. Classy Teams

It was this game. We got tough this day! Ed Stewart Trev Alberts! Ty Byrd! Underatted guys!
I LOVE this game! It helped laid the foundation. We were sick and tired of getting our asses kicked!

Good for Dr. Tom! People can get seriously injured!
Nebraska! It gave us the foundation for greatness later.

I LOVED Keithen! Great I-Backs!
Tough hard nosed football! What a great concept
That weather is perfect for old Big 8 football. GBR.
Keithen McCant played for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the CFL. Along with a ton of former Huskers.
I saw this game live when I was 7 years old.

Jesus! It's REALLY raining down!
I really miss the big8
The icy got them screwed up some. Stigge is excellent! Did the ENTIRE career!
The only time I can remember the goal posts coming down in Lincoln
'92 CU, '94 CU games the goal posts came down.

the days when our WRs were called the itty bitty committee.
Gotta love Tom Osborne
Derek Brown was great.
when u realize they was talking about a potential playoff in 91.....🤔🤔🤔🤔
You may be right. Fans definitely tried very hard to in 1995, but IIRC, it was prevented. Security was prepared by then.
Still can't believe that there was a time in big time CFB when "crowd noise" was penalized (if teams couldn't do their playcalls) (l.o.l.)
Best I back not known. Derek Brown!
Calvin Jones also
Yes sir!
There's no way in hell Bennett made that FG @ 1:39:00.
In this series, bad idea to score first!
1995 OU was the last time.
