    For digging your holes for the plants, consider using a bulb planter. It makes the hole an instant easy planting technique. I'm not saying what you are doing is not as fast I just love gardening and the easier things are made makes the therapy more enjoyable. It's all part of the process, gardening should be fun and enjoyed. I no longer see a Psychiatrist, I go into my garden talk to my worms 💩and play with my plants. It's just an exchange we make, I take care of them and they make me happy by growing healthy plant food. (it's all in the soil) Thank you for sharing!

    This shows how planning & fortitude pays off. Color me a bit envious of your beautiful & large garden space! Looking forward to watching future videos to see how the plants grow & deal with the wind. I also have a wind problem this year due to a lot of broken & missing trees on my hillside.

    • @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
      @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023  Před 5 lety +1

      All the trees in my yard lean towards the east from the winds.we have miles of open farm fields to the west of us so we constantly get pou ded. The plants will loose some leaves but as long as the stems are tied good the plants always survive. Hail causes the most damage when a storm blows through. Thanks for watching.

    Lucky you. It dried out enough to plant SOMETHING! Even the raised beds are too wet here. What beautiful soil prep in the little bed near your house! Once you have some raised beds, you never want to go back to regular earth gardening. I can't plant, but at least I get to watch YOU!

    I am way behind planting in my garden also. I have a new puppy, just turned a year old and can't keep her out of my raised beds so I've had to take time to work on a fencing system to divide my garden area from rest of back yard. I live in town and this is new to me to have a dog to contend with but worth the effort. She follows me everywhere and is a good companion. I love the way you put the stakes in the end of the raised bed and then a longer board down to mark the rows. I'm going to use your idea to plant my beans in my raised bed this weekend. I have chineese yard long beans, purple green beans, red green beans, and wide flat green beans. (The colored ones, purple and red turn green when cooked, just thought they would be cool to watch grow). I'm using cattle panels arched between my raised beds as a trellis for them. These are all new varieties for me. I noticed on your seed packets we are planting some of the same type of tomatoes, I am excited to try Brad's Atomic Tomatoes. Well thanks for the video, I understand the wind, here in the Texas Panhandle we have strong winds most days. Blessings to you both, tell the wife she is looking great driving the cart! love to see her out and about in the videos.

      @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023  Před 5 lety

      A new puppy is always a challenge but well worth the effort. The Chinese long beans are my wife's favorites and for some reason pests leave them alone. I planted the Atomic tomatoes last year and was not happy with them. Hope they do better in your climate. She lovesthat golf cart. Thanks for watching.

    I always love this time of year when I see you putting out all your vegetables. Keeps me motivated! Just wanted to share a tool I recently bought at Home Depot that makes digging holes much quicker. It is a 24 inch planting auger you attach to a cordless drill (Ames brand). It is a game changer and has made planting seedlings very fast and efficient. The holes dig up nicely and could go way down, especially for tomatoes. Hope this helps everyone as I believe it has saved me a lot of time and bending over. Thanks for all that you do, you are a great inspiration.

    I live in a river valley with gumbo so difficulty with muddy soil is quite common. I made the decision this year to toss down some diy high and low tunnels over my garden beds for next year. I figure I can get plants and seeds down in early spring. It also makes hardening off plants much easier. I didn’t go all in this year, but will next year.

    Chinese Lanterns, You could be sorry!!! They do have a huge tendency to take over and choke out other plants and once established they will multiply by long white underground roots. The roots can be pulled out but you only have to miss one little piece and you will have a new Chinese Lantern plant. Yes they are lovely to look at and great for a fall decoration when most other colour has gone from the garden but, just be careful where you plant them and watch that you don't spread them as you move other plants in and out of the area. Good luck! Take care and stay safe. Sandie.

    OMG your poor dog. I am so happy she is better. I stopped doing all vaccinations except rabies as required by law. Unless you board your dog, or take it to dog parks where she is exposed to strange dogs, repeat yearly booster vaccinations are totally unnecessary for older dogs. If you tell your vet to Titer test (instead of give yearly boosters) you will find that your ADULT dog likely has built-up immunity to distemper that usually lasts a lifetime. After the puppy and one year vaccinations, repeat vaccinations each year are not necessary. When titer testing, my senior dogs still have proven positive immunity antibodies that protect them from these diseases. This is really important for senior dog's health. No one tells you this. Yearly booster vaccinations are the bread and butter of Vet practices.

Yet the leaves never get burnt. That whole thing about burning leaves if watered in the sun is just another internet gardening rumor based on nothing but junk science.

      Thanks. In NY and we are late this year also. With more rainy days than sunny days everything is far behind this year also. Thanks for watching.

    I just found your channel, and enjoyed watching a couple videos and subscribed. BTW, what are those round bins you use for the raised beds? Home made or commercial, and by whom? They look ideal for my application. Thanks!

      An old section of pipe with a steel plate welded on one end. The ends of the stakes don't split like they do with a hammer. Thanks for watching.

      They are just green bunching onions. A little bigger than a scallion. Similar to these www.rareseeds.com/he-shi-ko-bunching-onion/

    Beautiful garden! You are lucky your lil dog is ok. Your small dogs get the same amount in the vaccine as my Great Dane. Year ago this month she had a masa removed. Same place her shots are givin. Rabies shots last a lifetime. It’s about the money. They told me only treatment is 6 hrs from me. Chemo is the only thing out there. My vet for 25 years telling me this. He also said the mass is not from the. Shots I had. To take her back the day of the shots she was sick. As is 125 lbs. think about small dogs all dogs get the. Same amount they don’t go by Weight. If your vet lesson the amount he will lose license

    Your garden is so nice. I know you have mentioned it before but I can't figure it out. what are the raised beds made of? I saw another video where you said you can't find that material anymore. I am looking for something to use as rather large/high raised beds and I was just wondering. Janice

      They are made from old epoxy coated aluminum pool wall extrusions. There's a video about making them back a ways. The extrusions were 54 inches so they could be tall. Trouble is that the old Esther Williams pools are hard to find now. Thanks for watching.
