THANK YOU SEAN !! I haven’t touched a backpack in over 10 years now. I have Ankylosing Spondylitis and PSA, autoimmune diseases that are fusing my spine and most joints, resulting in crippling deformation and pain beyond belief. Just the thought of anything touching my shoulders or neck is terrifying. But… I loved your backpack so much that I attached it to my primary rolling Pelican “Elite” case. You put more excellent features and overall design into this than anything out there! I just picked this up from a friend who decided to stick with whatever he was using. I paid him what it cost new, minus the shipping. This thing is AWESOME! It’s perfect for me and what I like to carry. It’s also a great deal. I’m looking at it next to my Session bag(also amazing), and it’s just loaded with features that work well for me. It feels really sturdy and well made. My Think Tank bag is 5 years old, we will see how the Rotor Riot holds up? Thanks again for the design and making this available to us!
I got mine yesterday! Just opening the box, I could tell how well it was made. I really like all the features and cannot wait to test it out on some adventures! Big thanks to everyone who worked on developing it!
I only looked at it for like a few seconds on the Rotor Riot store and didn't think nothing of it,but after this video I definitely want one. Love the work and ideas you put into it...
I have been thinking about, putting together my own carry bag, but it looks like it would either cost me more to make my own, or for the same price, I would end up with something of lower quality. Still thinking about doing it, just because I like making stuff. Maybe I'll end up buying this bag, and then customize it.
ohhhhh. Tempting. I am in the market for a more "travel friendly" drone bag (Pyrodrone Pro pack is my go-to right now). This may fit the bill. Good job, Shawn!
Just got back from Castle Crash where I used mine for the first time. I think I overloaded it. It was heavyy. Getting used to opening from the strap side takes some getting used to. But the base is so wide that most of the time I opened it while upright to get the stuff I need from the inside. The quick access zipper for the goggles is a game changer. Quick draw on the bandos. Great job Shawn. I like it.
God damnit Shaun! I just bought a Torvol. And now this! But really. 1. Molle, bungie, buckles, 2. Opens from the back - In any environment you don't have a car or a table, you want a bag to open from the back, not front. 3. Carry on strap thingy on the back.
Nice work on this one. I got mine yesterday. I am really impressed with the overall build quality. And the dividers are super grippy, stiff, and strong. Time will tell. But it seems like this might be the closest to perfect travel bag for me. One consideration you might want to make for future iterations is a lighter interior color. I have a lot of things that are also black (cables, straps, batteries, xt60 covered, screws, nd filters, etc) and I noticed that they tend to disappear into the darkness of the bag.
Run this past Drew. A gear buy back program. Trade in analog, old bags, FPV gear for a discount on RR gear. I think a lot of people would upgrade, like me but can’t justify it. Love the bag though.
Rip N Dip access is a great selling point. Have the bag packed / ready for any outing.. long or short. Great job.. honeycombed side walls.. great call..
Sorry, guys. I wish I could control that. It cost us $10k to have 500 of them shipped to us. Unfortunately, our manufacturer isn’t a distributor and isn’t willing to store and drop ship them individually.
Been looking for a new backpack for a while, trying to pick the one that's right for me. I had already decided on the iFlight backpack but haven't pulled the trigger yet. Then I saw this RR backpack and the more I see of it the more I like it. I'm going to wait for a few more reviews but I think this has my vote so far. My only concern is when I travel I have a 16" laptop and not sure if that'll fit. I don't take my quads when I travel but I would love to start. I'm looking for that backpack that can take everything I have in a normal backpack for my laptop plus my quads. Still, this is a very impressive backpack and I really like it.
Thanks for the consideration, Kan. I never put my laptop in my fpv bag, because I like to have it in my lap on the plane, so I put it in a separate carry on bag that I keep in my seat. Because the laptop wasn’t as important to me, because my stuff is usually updated already when I an flying on a trip, I don’t want to carry the extra weight of the laptop flying. I keep a speedybee updater in the backpack in case of emergency updating needs. But, I don’t ever use that, either. I didn’t want the laptop sleve to interfere with my decisions since it wasn’t important to me, but I wanted to include it, because it is important to some people.
Great Bag, and if i remember what my Torvol cost and not have what this has... Great job, any ideas on selling them in the EU? Shipping is a lot and gets it over 300 with all the import costs.
You've had over 20 backpacks?! dang dude, I'd definitely say you've got the expertise to make one then! This looks fantastic, great job! 🔥🔥 Any chance I could get one to review? 😀
Amazing looking backpack! I'm going to go against the current mainstream suggestion and go for it instead of the iFlight. Couple of questions/suggestions: 1. Please let me buy more straps for holding drones, you already included the loops for hooking them... 2. Why did you not put the laptop up against the back of the wearer? I have never designed a bag, but I don't see how that would have impeded anything, and it would give people like me better peace of mind. 3. As much as I adore the part where the bag opens toward the back, I most likely would still have to lay the bag in muddy places from time to time, do you think you could design some kind of rack that would be placed over the drones and allow someone to just lay the bag over it instead of having to take them off?
It was my intention to make more straps available. There is also a gimbal protector accessory coming. This was the largest financial investment RR has made on one product, so, those things will come when some of that investment is recovered. I don’t use a laptop in my flight bag, so I didn’t want it to compromise any other part of the bag. I liked where Pyrodrone placed there’s, and basically copied their location. I built the bag for me, the way I wanted the perfect bag for me to be, and hope everyone else also enjoys my thoughtful engineering. :) Thanks for the suggestions. :)
@@LetsFlyRC Hell yeah! 😃😁 Here's customer #1 who would be happy to preorder those! 😁 You actually did it better than Pyrodrone: They put the laptop at the very outer layer (=little padding), while you placed the laptop compartment in a way that gives it (at least) two layers of padding. SERIOUS kudos for the extensive MOLLE at the front, essentially making the backpack extensible for storage snobs like me. It would be awesome if you developed an extension for the bag that gives it an extra layer while still having the drone retention straps, though admittedly the market for such a thing is extra niche.
