- On a recent trip to Big Lots, I decided to purchase and test out some cheap products that I found interesting. My haul included six items, ranging in price from $3-$20.

Idea: Have someone make you a small "wall", say 2x2 ft, you can use to test things with sticky tape. It could be double-sided with different paint types, for example, and the drywall panels can be easily replaced when they get worn out.
I was thinking the same thing. He needs a "stunt wall" lol
Yes!! There's another product testing chanel who uses a wall like that. For all sorts of stuff, Vivian Tries. It's come in handy for sure.
I don't use a makeshift wall when I buy products and neither should he
I have a bunch of the led disco balls in my eBay store lol they come with usb to iPhone and android adapters anyone wants one holler at me for my eBay lol
@@zach99998 you also aren't testing products at the same volume as him I assume. A stunt wall would let him test more factors and much more conveniently, it not being his actual wall would let him test with less restraint too
the other thing about that light switch - if you use the adhesives, it's going to be a pain to change the batteries when needed. so a screw in the hole on the back might be best. Also good for inside closets
Not to mention, it has two magnets in the back
I was thinking the same thing about the batteries. I've purchased similar items from Dollar Tree and use Velcro or a screw.
What I did with the ones like that which I got from Harbor Freight was to attach them to the walls with 3M Command strips. That's seemed to work out well.
Nanotape works wonders and it's reusable.
Looks like a job for command picture-hanging velcro strips! They hold well and you can easily remove the item for replacing the batteries and such.
Bailey's determination to taste her fur was too funny. On another note, Fur daddy sounds like something I don't want to lookup on urban dictionary.
OH my, it took me a minute, but I finally got that. LOL. Too funny. TY for a genuine laugh. :)
😂😂😂… Fur Daddy….
Well it does vibrate...what gutter mind you have haha
Sounds like a subcategory to bears and cubs 😉😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 💀
"I have a bag of Bailey hair..." things I never thought I'd hear anyone say
My man legit has a huge bag of his dog's fur. LOLOL TY bro that gave me a good laugh!! I have always had a weird obsession w/ cheap gadgets. Sometimes you find gems that work extremely well.
With how he tests all sort of vacuums and so on. You need test items like dog hair. I’d be more shocked if he didn’t have it lol
I actually have that first gadget LOL
My mom bought it for me as a gift a few years back due to us having frequent black outs in my area at the time!
It's worked perfectly as an emergency light and I have it mounted via some velcro and can move it to anywhere else I have velcro pads set up! A great prepper gadget imo
I connected it to usb port.....and it works
They sell it a Harbor Freight too.
That’s a great idea!!
I love the idea of going to Big Lots and picking up random things. This could be a cool series of videos
Have you ever considered making a frame with some drywall and paint on it to test adhesive products? Saves your walls while showcasing if the adhesive will damage a wall.
I don't use products on a makeshift piece of drywall, not very realistic
@@zach99998 You're absolutely right. He should build a house and wait a few years for the walls to properly age so they match your particular conditions and only then dare test anything that needs hanging on a wall. And change houses whenever you move, of course, to be as realistic as possible.
@@zach99998 What exactly is the difference? It's still drywall.
Capital idea!
I have that light switch thing-a-ma-jobby. It's really bright and handy when the power goes out. Mine came with adhesive strips and also it has magnets so I put them on my metal cabinets. Very handy in my opinion.
I live in hurricane prone Florida and I have 1 in each bathroom next to the regular switch. They are perfect for if the power goes out to light a small bathroom.
I live in an older home with an attic that's more like a crawl space, it does not have a wired in light, and I have a couple of these under a different brand name, and they do the job of lighting up the attic just enough. I just have a Google Nest reminder set to change the batteries out once a year, so they don't leak, and mess up the lights, as it can get fairly warm in my attic during the summers even with roof vents here in the western central part of S. Carolina, that can cause batteries to go bad faster. far as lights when the power goes out I have a few USB rechargeable flashlights that double as emergency power banks for a quick phone charge if I forget to recharge my main battery bank.
@@CommodoreFan64 you might as well just buy lithium batteries or NiMh rechargeable batteries, these last well over 10 years without leaking
Oh bullshit
It was so nice to see things that did not come from amazon. Also, great to see the dogs too.
All still made in China though.
@@spikefivefivefive Yeah, but for those of us who don't want to support Amazon, it's nice to see other stores getting some recognition.
Yup but not for us in UK and other countries who do not have that store here, was only reason I stopped watching few other reviewers as they went from online purchases to local stores such as Wallmart etc so could never find same products here so not much point in watching any more.
@@Leehensman "LIKE WHAT KINDA' CHEAP AMERICAN PRODUCTS? '..
YOU CAN'T JUST 'LEAVE US ALL HANGIN' LIKE THAT BUB!!..
SPECIFICS.. 'INQUIRING MINDS' HERE!?!..
@@Leehensman what American made products. Do those even exist. I have not seen anything made in America for over 25 years. I'm being genuine not sarcastic. I still have a shirt that I wore when I was in middle school which was about 40 years ago. (I obviously don't still wear it). It actually says made in America on the tag. We all joked and said now you know that is vintage cuz nothing is made in America anymore. Sad but true.
The led light switch is great for emergency power outages. I have one in every room especially in the restroom and lights up pretty decent 😊
lol i live in an area with pretty reliable power and never even thought about that, i use candles when on the rare occasion the power goes out mainly for the way they make you feel.
I agree with a lot of the comments about having a tester wall piece. Vivian Tries uses one on her channel and it's been very useful for a lot of different things. It would be cool to have multiple different paint and wallpaper types and stuff like that in panels so you'd know how products affect different materials.
Also, I loved the Big lots products testing!! Products in stores like this are products I would most likely purchase so it's nice to see someone testing more stores.
I don't put things on tester walls so neither should he
@@zach99998 well I think the tester wall the importance of having it is in regards to texture. If you can duplicate a typical drywall or sheet rock scenario that should be OK
I stop watching Vivian tries because she doesn’t really do a thorough review like this guy does. She never comes back a year later and tells us how these gadgets or products are working
There are two reasons for those extra-size boxes. It reduces theft because the bigger box is harder to slip under your coat. And companies that make boxes have standard sizes; they could make a custom size box but for "cheap product" manufacturers it's not worth it. The empty box in the tape package was to fill out the empty space inside.
It use to be a four pack but they cut it down to three and kept the price the same
Didn’t bother to change boxes so it looked like you got more for the price
You should do a Five Below haul , and review their products!!!!
Wouldn't mind seeing more of these! Different stores etc.
Aww it was so great seeing Ms. Elle! She's looking beautiful as always. Please give extra snuggles to Elle and Bailey!! 💜💗💜
We've had the same type of light switch looking lights for about 5 years. We have them in the lower kitchen cupboards and I love them! They work great. Ours came with velcro tape. But, since you have to remove the light to change batteries, the tape only lasted a couple of uses. We went with hanging them on a screw to make it easier to change the batteries.
I wondered about the adhesive, with needing to change the batteries
Sweet. Big Lots. Remember back in the day when it was called Odd Lots? Seems so long ago now!
It used to be called pic and save here in California. 😊
I got a stick-on light almost identical to the one you got, but at Dollar Tree. It even has the same 3M mounting strips on it, but the packaging was not nearly as fancy. It cost slightly less -- $2.50; $1.25 for the light itself and another $1.25 for batteries. Mine's mounted at the end of our upstairs main hallway and provides decent enough lighting to walk safely along said hallway if all the other lights are out.
Here's a tip I used to work at a Big Lots! and if you have one near you go and check their dumpster. So much good stuff is just thrown away. Employees are supposed to destroy the items before throwing them in the trash but few ever take the time. Blankets, comforters, bed sheets that have been opened and returned because of the wrong size can't be resold and are just thrown away. Any opened electronic items are also thrown away. The laws in most states consider items in the trash free for the taking as long as the dumpster isn't locked. We rarely locked ours because it was just a hassle. Try it you'll be glad you did.
I started working at big lots 4 months ago without ever actually being inside one, and for a place that sells low end stuff, they have some interesting things there that I wasn't really expecting to see at a place like Big Lots.
I picked up some of those LitezAll's over 10 years ago and never had to replace the batteries yet. They work great in dark closets etc. Love them for that!
Honestly love this concept. you'd have a field day at Walmart
Definitely. In Georgia Wal Marts, those ‘As Seen’ products face the seated area for pick up purchases😆
by me we have a store called 5 below that is all junk like this.........unfortunately its not a 5 dollar or lower store anymore but thats a different story
Don't have a Big Lots around here anymore. Probably the snotty neighbors in a town
by me just didn't buy there anymore. Alien tape sounds like a good purchase.
Thanks James you always go the extra mile for us consumers. 😁😁
He reviewed the original Alien Tape, and it did not do so well, but the Alien Shield he reviewed here seems to be doing better, but I would like to see a 6 month test of that bucket after being subjected to the elements of life, same for the small blow up mattress.
@@CommodoreFan64 Interesting. I wonder if he will do an update on it.
@@ShirlBussman I know he does do updates and he tells of the items he has been using on a frequent basis. You don’t get that from other reviewers.
@@catw6998 I truly hope that he does one for
this product. Thanks for taking the time to comment. ☺☺
The Lightez All seems to have two magnets in the back for attaching to a metal surface. Pretty cool, magnets are not a cheap add-on to consumer products.
Damn the only way to replace the batteries on the light is to remove the adhesive everytime
That USB Disco light makes me feel like I'm on an acid trip (not that I really would ever know what that felt like). 🤣 Maybe that's what Ludicrous speed looks like in Spaceballs!!
I didn't see 'a Disco Ball'.. But, I watched 'Geraldo Rivera' transform Into 'DAFFY DUCK'!!.. Then the curtains (on each side of the TV), Turned into waterfalls.. Last thing I recall was 'Trying to take a drag off a Smoke.. When I exhaled.. THE SMOKE WAS THE CONSISTENCY OF (CHUNKY) PEANUT BUTTER!, But NO DISCO BALL!?!.. That was My Last Time... I Think..
(EveryTime I See Geraldo Now.. I Think: "What a Duck!!")..
Also, I'd probably just use the seal tape wrapped around my hand to pick up any animal fur off my clothes or furniture. 😆
The sticky bandits from home alone! 😁😂😂
Thank you James. I appreciate how detail oriented your reviews are.
We used those light switches in our closets for over 10 years before moving into a house that has lights in in every closet. They worked brilliantly, no pun intended. It was a pain in the arse to change the batteries but thankfully we didn’t have to often. They’ve gotten better with time. Brilliant for cabinets that are deep. Cheers for the reviews. I agree with you on the pet hair one. You’re still doing a lot of work. The Alien Seal was impressive. I just bought phone holders for my kids, in their 20’s, at 5 Below. I tried one out on my own laptop and went back for more! They are magnetic and fabulous! Even worked on my pcs!
The light switch would be good for little nooks or crannies that you may not access often but always need a light when you do access it. I can also see it being helpful during power outages for the closet or pantry. You don't actually have to stick on anything so it might be a fun night light for kids, too. I can think of several uses.
you can get the same light switches (but with adhesive hook and loop strips) for $1 when coupons come out at Harbor Freight. I have a few in my house for when power goes out. Also have one mounted in my closet for soft light to not have to turn on the large room light. Thanks for all the great reviews.
For $3 that disco ball would keep my niece and nephew occupied for hours lol
I like BigLots!! There's no store in my community, the store relocated. In CA their called Pic N Save!
That light switch comes in handy 4 closets without lights!
They were called Pic N Save like 15 years ago
*they're called Pic N Save
But when I lived in San Diego all the Pic N Save stores turned into Big Lots.
I bought a bunch of those stick on light switches thinking they'd be great for inside large cabinets and clothes closets. The tiny amount of cruddy adhesive is useless. They all promptly fell off all surfaces.
Use some velcro adhesive
You should do more videos like these. Big lots or whatever other stores babe things like these. Very entertaining.
Doubt you will see this James but I’ve been out of electricity since Wednesday from hurricane ian but with the couple bars I get I have been binging all of your videos and you been keeping me sane keep up the great work my man
I almost get teary eyed when I see your older dog as I had a dog that looked just like him who past away recently. (I’m talking about the chihuahua type dog on the couch).
PS. I love Bailey too!
I have this bag of Bailey fur I've been saving...You must be a hit with the ladies. Good fun video, thanks.
You should try products from Five Below next. That is if there's a Five Below in Vegas.
We have Five Below here in Vegas, they just came here within the last 3 years or so.
I know it would be hard to do with the inflatable but that bubbling out would probably grow over time until a leak appears. For the bucket putting the patch on the inside should bump up the strength quite a bit. I too am surprised at how well the patches worked after having seen your Alien Tape review. Fun reviews as always, maybe next time try some of the clearance retailers products which are worthless at any price. There's a strange satisfaction in seeing horrible products getting completely roasted through an unbiased, recommended-use demonstration. 😖😆
That light switch is also magnetic. I use one in my laundry room that doesn't have a proper light. It sticks to my washer and dryer pretty well with the magnet.
I have a few of those light switches but they have magnets on the back. We leave them on the side of the fridge. When the power goes out, we place them in the bathrooms and around the house. Safer with kids during a power outage. 💕
always love to see your videos to chill.
Amazing content as always James!
the empty box at the top of the packaging helps reduce theft, making it harder to reach in and take a roll of tape out
I've been using those light switches for over 5 years in the closets. Works great.
I use that little light in my safe. It also has magnets on it as well.
OMG 😂😂😂 the bag of Bailey Hair!! Only you 🤣
Enjoyed this format =)
Hey James, the first product you tried, we actually use in our pantry cupboard under each shelf, they stuck great and is brilliant for the light, and I think we only paid about $2AU, Great video 👍🏼👍🏼🇦🇺🇦🇺🦘🦘Cheers from Melbourne Australia
Good idea I’ve never thought of that
I absolutely love your videos. I have purchased, and not purchased, many items based on your reviews.
I like this - reviewing the sorts of things you see in the "Made for TV" stands at the supermarket and wonder if they're any good.
Now I'm curious what you can find from Odd Lots and Ocean State Job Lots! I know basically all the same stuff, but hey you never know! Great video as always!
Enjoyed the change of pace. I'll never buy any of these things but it's still informative to watch the testing.
Great reviews! I actually like all of them! Actually I will probably head on over to Big Lot's. Thanks for all your reviews so we know what to buy and what not to buy. Thanks again
I'll break out the platforms cause James is in disco mode...let's all boogie on down! Great video as always 👍 Happy Monday 😊
I mounted my light switch so it illuminates my nature's head front catch basin and I LOVE IT.
Gotta love when he pulls the $4 mouse out of the box and says "it feels kind of cheap" It's a $4 mouse. But sure what your expecting
This was fun! I love Big Lots!
I have 2 of the "light switch" looking lights and really like them a lot! I've not mounted them, just have one next to my nightstand and another in my office for when I lose power. They really are nice!
This was fun! I see those kinds of products and do wonder about them. I think I will look for the lightswitch. I have a place I can use such a light. The disco ball looks like a fun "stocking-stuffer." Same thing with the mouse. I can see me using all the products you reviewed today. Thank you!
Love the Clearwater Beach Tshirt!!
Sweet. I went to big lots recently for the 1st time in a while cuz I had a 20% off my order coupon that was going to expire & was so disappointed. Prices increased quite a bit & the stuff I had hoped to get wasn't in stock. Found a few useful things but not much. Bummer.
I use those adhesive lights on the inside of the lower kitchen cabinet doors so I can see what I’m looking for… usually use command strips… they hold longer than ones that come with it.
What I had found personally with Alien Tape or the flex tape (actually used this brand), it doesn't hope of to water pressure. I had a pinhole leak in a hose that was off water spigot. This was the spigot from which I received water for the house from the city. There was a heavy rubber hose that had a pinhole leak. Very minimal. I tried the Flex Tape for a quick fix. It was good for maybe a day, but the pressure eventually won, and the water continued to seep out. If there was no pressure, I do feel that the tape would have help up. Needless to say, I had the old heavy duty rubber hose removed and replaced with copper pipe.
Yelling at screen: it's magnetic 😆
You can easily get a mouse that’s more ergonomic and lights up, fully customizable. There’s a huge market for that in the gaming world.
But not for $5. That thing looked to me like you get what you pay for.
The vibrating Fur Daddy is clearly made for single cat ladies. The vibration does nothing to increase pickup, but could use useful elsewhere.
☺😍🤫
😝🤣👀 oh my hehe
Yeah, the fur daddy has a "thick hair" setting for a reason
It obviously only works on cat hair
Why you gotta be obscene?
I miss going to Big Lots and Ollie's. Hoping the northern borders open soon. I got some shopping to do and there's a diner with great steak 'n eggs and Greek cuisine I like to frequent.
"The disco ball flickers when I talk, that's kind of cool". Yea, in 1985, that was cool. Today? Not so much. On another note, I bought 5 of those little switch LED lights from Harbor Freight, they're bright and they work well.
It would give me migraine.
Clearwater Beach, FL! That's my home! So grateful we were spared the wrath of Hurricane Ian here.
I have the Litezall Wireless Light Switch and I love it. My eight year old niece comes to spend the weekend with and she loves to play with the light and I've had it for about two years. Also the light has two little round magnets too. Love your videos!
Love Big Lots...Excellent reviews & it's always a 5 star when it includes Bailey.
This is pretty cool!! I’m wondering with all of the bad storms and hurricanes /power outages (emergency items) if you would be able to search out all things that are either cordless rechargeable .
Specifically things that you can cook on or warm up things with or watch movies or things like that?? Thanks 😊
The tape has surpassed all my expectations. I would definitely buy that after seeing this review. Thanks❤
6:52 My brain interpreted that as "Freak Interviews" lmao
I have 7 of the light switches from big lots, have had them for 4 years now. I only have them put up in strategic locations in my house incase of a power outage. That's the whole reason I purchased them. I think they are quite bright, and I'm very happy with them! Although, here in California, I paid more for them. 🤷♀️
The best pair hair cleaner I ever used was made by Pledge, called Fabric Sweeper. They're supposed to be disposable, when it's full you throw the whole thing away, but I figured out how to remove one roller to empty it and put the roller back. I think they were $6 each.
Our Big Lots store closed in Minnesota. Thanks for the vicarious shopping trip! 😊
Someone gave me one of those light switches but I never found a use for it. The Alien Shield tape could be useful especially with inflatable items that have been punctured. It might even be somewhat weatherproof. I wonder if you could patch a bicycle inner tube with it.
There are many versions of those wall switch-look lights. They all share the same problem: when it is dark and you need light, you do not usually need it blasted AT your face. You need it shining away from you. These switch likes are like a ligtmht source designed by someone who can't see.
My parents had that Litezall (looks like a standard light switch). I have 2 other version of that idea. One is them wide V-shape light switch you push up or down for Off/On. The other I have is actually a small turning knob in the middle which works as a dimmer type of light.
I have a different branded version of the first light you reviewed.
They work great for placing in areas not normally wired. Closets and under counters are good places for these lights.
We have one or two of those light switches in a cabinet under the counter. They're pretty useful in that situation
Dollar Tree had those exact light switches. They didn't last longer than 2 weeks before the switch wore out.
Should be 2 magnets about the size of a button battery on the back too.
I used 1 in my CUSHMAN GT-1 as an interior light.
Nice touch that with the Alien Shield you got a free box of air ;)
I use the light switch in a couple closets that don't have lights in them like little broom closest. Comes in handy for that for sure. I haven't used the alien tape but I have used the flex seal one on a leaky pipe and it worked, I wonder which ones better or holds up better over time, that would be an interesting video.
Are they stable? It looked pretty wobbly in the video
@@hectorg5809 mine have held up really well. I hooked mine on with the nail option though not the stickys.
@@hectorg5809 my mom has hers in her linen closet as well. I've had mine for about 2 yrs and she's had hers for about a year.
Cool, thanks for the info
My mom use to love Bog Lots. haven't been there in ages, especially after she passed. I need to check it out in her honor!
@Googie - There’s a couple Big Lots near us & one fairly new one about 30 mins drive from our house. Guess which one I like better?
If you said the one furthest away, you would be correct.
The stick em up light is great for me to light up my boondocking containers in my camper for me to see better if I need to empty them.
I have sensory issues and would have a seizure if I was near the disco ball! I was getting nauseated just after a few seconds of watching your video and had to turn away. That might be a topic to add to your reviews. Thanks very much for for all your excellent reviews! Go Big Lots!
Or you could just read the description before watching because he lists the products in the description
I bought one a while ago at Dollar Tree and it still works great in our pantry!
Yeah, I saw this and felt like it was only worth a dollar. It's because it was at the Dollar Tree!
Bought one what?
I have the litzall found it at a goodwill it works well but the magnets on the back are a little weak. I use it in the kitchen and have it on the side of the fridge it is a great use when you don't want to disturb anyone at night.
that light you can get at dollar tree for $1.25. Comes with batteries and the sticky things are inside packed away where the batteries are. Those things are great for under the kitchen sink or in a dark closet. Somewhere we’re not much light gets too but you need to see.
You really need to utilize all the Bailey hair. Why don’t you knit an Ice Genie cozy with the Bailey homemade yarn? Thanks again for an entertaining video.
The light switch light is handy. I have one on top of the fridge for early mornings.
Love your vids
I have the light switch (first product you tested) . I didn't mount mine. I use mine at night when going to the bathroom and especially when lights go out. I like it a lot.
I have the light. I keep it on my fridge (with the magnets) in case of a power outage. I’m thinking of grabbing some more for a couple closets because it’s super bright and has lasted a long time!
My kids use that first light in our hall way with no light switch in it. It works perfect for us.
