    More great information I had to learn through experience. I wish your videos had been available before my first surgery. Your cataract video play list should be required watching before a patient has IOL surgery. In the long run it would be better for both patients and the field of ophthalmology to have better informed patients.

      @@MicheleLeeMD My 2nd doctor mentioned "cleaning the capsular bag" during surgery, but I didn't think to ask what that meant. Have not found that via google (likely it's I don't know the correct terms to search) Have not seen that in your videos. Did I mis-hear? Does it eliminate/delay YAG capsulotomy later? The slit lamp image from the eye he did is very clear, the other has cells intruding from the equator. Maybe something for your next Q&A. Thank you.

    • @MicheleLeeMD
      @MicheleLeeMD  Před rokem +4

      @@tsbrownie It sounds like they were polishing the bag before putting in the lens. It does not eliminate the need for a Yag capsulotomy but it may decrease the chance you will need the laser procedure.

    Another very informative video full of valuable information. You make some very complex eye conditions so much easier to understand. In a future video could you address how pseudoexfoliation syndrome may affect cataract surgery and if it might it be prudent to maybe consider having a minimally invasive laser glaucoma surgery done at the same time as cataract surgery if you have a strong family history of glaucoma but your intraocular pressure is still normal.

    • @MicheleLeeMD
      @MicheleLeeMD  Před rokem +4

      Thank you for your question! It depends how dense - if your cataract is so dense that lens measurements are difficult, you want to make sure your eye surgeon has the equipment needed to make those lens calculations. Otherwise, I would discuss your situation with your surgeon and make sure you understand any additional risks from your surgery. Best of luck ❤️

    Hi Dr. Michele Lee,
    Q1) How good or much better is an Advanced Monofocal Lens (Aspheric lens) compared to a Standard Monofocal Lens??
    Q2) Why CAN'T a PCO(Posterior Capsule Opacification) BE PREVENTED after a cataract operation???🤔🤔

    • @MicheleLeeMD
      @MicheleLeeMD  Před rokem +3

      1) Aspheric lenses can be a good option depending on the shape of your cornea and previous eye issues/surgery, but it is not universally the best option for everone. Talk to your eye doctors to see which type of lens may be best for you.
      2) PCO can be prevented by doing a posterior capsulotomy during surgery (by creating a hole in the bag that holds the lens - they actually do these in kids with cataracts since little kiddos will not be able to stay still for a laser procedure) but it's actually a bit risky and much less risky to need to do a quick laser procedure after surgery.
