However, the recent abuses of power we witnessed over the last few decades has gotten the public to rethink whether a bank is the place to store their wealth. In this episode, we explore the policy that crypto might replace personal banking since it allows safe custody and transfer of wealth without none of the KYC headaches.

100% agree. Banks make it incredibly hard to get your own money. Example it took me two days to move money from one account I own to another accountI own before I could get it cleared to buy more crypto on the dip. This is a big reason why they fear crypto. Crypto is power and people who now have the power hate the idea of giving up that power. Crypto is the future. James thank you for all the great unbiased content, keep up the great work.
Great vid, btw, there is a non U.S. exchange (rhymes with cryptodotmom) that gives you an actual VISA card that you can tap-off with your crypto earnings if you stake for 6 months. Hence bypassing the banks. The bank less movement is just getting started 🙏
i have tangem for my kaspa and ledger for my icp.
Depending on how you use your wallet it is quite simple to find out how much a person owns. When you’re sending funds from a KYCed wallet like Coinbase to your ledger - it’s trivial to assume it wasn’t spend and belongs to that person.
Self custody is great but there is also an underestimated acknowledgment of how transparent blockchains can be, especially for governments as they become more interested in taxing crypto.

The long term issue is personal security. Banks have silent alarms, and security in case of robberies. People do not. This is something worth considering as we move into a self-custodial framework

Thank you for the vid but I think it's still early days, basic needs such as gas, electricity, water, your ICP, your boss(!) ... will still ask you for a banking account to send/draw money to/from. And most stores (where I live anyway) don't accept a Mastercard as a means of payment.
But surely, slowly, the wheels have been set in motion.
And another issue: governments all over will fight this loss of control tooth and nail ... unless they can find a way to exploit it.

I would like for crypto to be more widely integrated in our society-but do you think to gov. will let this kind of self custody happen over time? I am sure they already know what is coming. Maybe there is room for both to exist in harmony
