I always loved Neil Smith - only guy, outside of Greg Gilbert, to win Cups with both the Islanders and Rangers. What Neil talks about at about 24:30 (tampering) is what makes folks like Steve Dangle joke the NHL "isn't a league". There's always been corruption in the NHL from the days of Clarence Campbell and a 6 team league, where subterfuge could easily be concealed, to John Ziegler (yes, even when the Isles were winning all the Cups); however, the league has never stank from the head down as badly as it does right now. It really has become a joke. How many seasons until Utah is holding up the Cup? I give it 3 max as long as Bettman is running things.
One last comment toward Rosner: did you seriously write/"report" in The Hockey News in March/April or so that J.G. Pageau at 5 million per would have fetched a 1st round draft pick? You're telling me that Pageau, a player WAY past his prime which was as a supplementary player to begin with, AND the 5 million dollars until 2026 that said club would have to take on for said past his prime player are fetching a 1st round pick?! At first blush, it's just ridiculous. But if you have any evidence, why aren't you doing an expose toward Islander fans to light the torches toward UBS and start striking with the pitchforks? Because if that's true, literally everyone needs to be fired. Everybody who was there at the deadline last year. Lou, his assistants, Roy, the owners (I'm speaking hyperbolically here), the players: everyone needs to friggin go at that point. Because I've been watching NHL for 43 years and I don't believe Pageau and his salary bring back much more than a bag of frozen pucks and a couple of iPads. Please *prove* me wrong.

Can we blame him? Otherwise he's sitting in the Heineken bar next to me and you going " I can't believe the isles extended Engvall and Mayfield AGAIN...."

Gauthier was horrible. He did nothing but skate around. He didn't accomplish much in Bridgeport either.
