- I noticed a lot of people still like this game so I decided to put together a video on how to beat it seeing that I've played it for awhile now. This goes over how to unlock Zane, Blair, and Gerard and also necessary packs in the game. I also go over some DP farming methods. Hopefully this helps, if you need more help be sure to leave a comment

I really love that kaiba was so petty about never beating yugi and his good card that he just started a duel academy and the worst ranking ones were slifer red and the highest ones obelisk blue.
The person who created the Academy was Kagemaru, not Kaiba. In fact, Samejima even comments in Episode 35 that Kaiba is their "new owner", not founder
gx duel academy. such a great game. probably one of the greatest games ever created in the history of mankind.
its large range of characters and complex battle system make it a classic btw

I play this game for about 4 years now and never thought about really finishing it.. now that this video was recommended to me, think I'll finally beat GX Duel Academy, thanks!

After playing this game I realized one thing. The enemy's decks aren't built to win, they're built to stall the player for "around 3 turns" AKA the turn limit for extra DP post duel. Whether it's Trap holes, Torrential Tributes, Mirror Forces, Negate Attacks, Magic Jammers or Seven Tools of the Bandit. The enemy will pretty much have most of those in their decks.
Leading to a game that isn't particularly hard, just needlessly irritating and quite frankly, unsatisfying to play. (Seriously, the opponent wants to use 3 magic jammers? whilst pretty much throwing their entire hand away in the process? If that's not stalling for the sake of stalling, rather than to win, then I don't know what is.)
Honestly, I enjoy it quite a lot, though it probably isn't very good. I hate Fairy Box, though. Evil Evil Evil Evil Fairy Box.

The AI will also use magic jammer on any spell. Even if the only effect of that spell would be to destroy their set magic jammer. So they will toss a card from their hand for nothing
Same, played an umi control deck with ocean lord and even though I will win, they have so many cards related to just stalling the game there and using cards like card destruction even though they only have 1 card in their hands or graceful charity
I even won by decking them out
Royal Decree allows the activation of trap spells but negates effects. The enemy AI will still attempt to magic jammer your spell, discard a card, then royal decree says NOPE and negates it. Feels good everytime
It's the year 2021 and my puny soul decided to play this game. It was a blast :)
Thinking about having to jump through all these hoops and hurdles physically hurts, especially the practical exams.
One thing you forgot to mention is that the instructor will occasionally stop the exam if you do well enough. For example, if you destroy enough monsters on the battle exam, he might just stop the duel and ace you

Bruh I just found your channel and these are my favorite Yu-Gi-Oh games and these videos are so awesome God I wish I'd arrived earlier
I saw this game on a trip to the mall in high school & picked it up. It was a good game, as climbing up or falling down the ranks gave me a sense of purpose in playing. The highest I got was "Prince of Games", mainly because the quiz questions were timed and I just randomly picked answers to get it over with (didn't care much for the duel portion either, in hindsight).
What appealed to me about GX most was the aspect of a school dedicated to essentially a hobby & how seriously they took it. Sure, there was the occasional supernatural shenanigan, but for the most part it was simple and fun (at least until the different dimension stuff). I'd like to see that again with another card game: a straight school life series centered on a TCG. WoTC, you've got an IP sitting around- just throwing that out there.

Man, I've been playing modern Yugi for so much time that I don't think I even remember how to make a optimized deck from this era. 😅
Fun Fact! My copy of Duel Academy corrupted on me, and then broke. This also happened earlier with my copy of Nightmare Troubadour, due to the fact I couldn't get past I think the first Shadow Duel you get roped into? ...also didn't help I was... abusive, to the ds carriages back then.
This an amazing guide, but one issue with it is that you need at least 10 wins in general to rank up to different dorms. My best advice is to focus on getting those 10 wins, completing the tutorials to unlock the associated card packs in the shop, and meeting Blair and Gerald before ranking up to Ra Yellow.
I haved won 78 duels and have all card but I can't pass the practical exam😖

I wasn’t able to get king of games until I beat Mindy and Jasmine 10x also. I swear I had like 600 wins, 100% on timed duels and exams, and like 50 wins vs each player lol. But you could only duel Jasmine, Mindy, or even Shepard on Saturdays!

How do you keep track of how many times you beat each character?
You can't. You have to keep counts yourself.

Ihave 280 wins and 70 percent of exam and passed all timed duels but im still prince of games
I think that means you havent beat everyone 10 times. I would try beating everyone again once to make sure you didn't miscount (I really wish the game told you how many times you've beaten each person -.-)

This game is the closest that teaches you the actual game.
Trivia: Shining Flare Wingman was supposed to be a Secret Rare for certain packs (I can't remember which), but ya boi, Hex Error, prevents that.
It makes me so sad that Horus isnt in this game; my goat format Horus deck is so fun

@@OHHHHUSBANT it goes up to Cybernetic Revolution, and has Shining Flare Wingman from the next set, Elemental Energy. That's 2 sets past where Horus is.
I know I'm coming into this pretty late, but considering you can also duel Mindy and Jasmine in Obelisk Blue, wouldn't they count for those 20 wins to 200?

Can i ask a question? professors are included in 10 wins per character?and paraoh is included to the professor or slifer red or it's separate?

How do you know how many times have you dueled a character? It does not show as it does in the ps2 versio n.
How do you know how many times have you beated every single duelist?
I made a google sheet with everyone's name in a box and added a tally mark every time I beat someone. Basically thr old fashioned way :p

Hey, I saw that you're first place for the speedrun of KOG, but I can't find the video anywhere. The one embedded on the site doesn't work, and CZcams search brings up nothing. What ever happened to it? Will it ever be uploaded again or anything?
I loved this game as a kid and looking back I realize that I never actually beat it, so I think I'm going to make a fresh attempt.
Hey Edgar! The run was a highlight on twitch but they had a glitch that destoryed a bunch of vods during that time frame. I have the video file on my computer but its too long for CZcams :( i plan to restream the video soon and maybe do another run actually 😁

All that trouble, just to get the privilege of facing Sheppard with a Blue-Eyes Deck (sans BSoD, which the AI is told not to use to cover up the glitch) and having one Forbidden card in your Deck.

Regarding duel academy all I can say is I hate not having a good spell caster deck 🥲 still making a 16,000 cyber end dragon was cool
It’s good, although horrendously slow and takes awhile to get good
Me once when I was doing the Alexis event I won against both Mindy and the other girl with triple limiter removal but sadly I lost against alexis
thats the worst feeling, I believe I got beaten by Alexis one time by CYBER BLADER. man that card is hard to deal with if you dont have an answer for it lol

Dude, of the 6 extra packs you only talked about how to get 3 how do I unlock the other 3 packs you didn't mention?
I know they are unlocked through events like the Dimitri event where he steals Yugi's deck or the Damon caveman event but I wasnt able to verify which events unlock what and I didnt want to spread any misinformation. I'm going to clear this up eventually, p.s. I'm also semi-convicned the "Be Quick" pack can't be unlocked at all but we'll see

I think it is the opposite. IIRC, the puzzle duel uses Jaden's deck

You have to pull them from packs or you could technically use the password machines if you know which ones you are missing. If you are going to buy I would save before going to the shop and reset if you don't get what you want

Yeah actually you can use Chaos Emperor Dragon instead, I might've said this is only for the 1st year but I forgot that CED gets unbanned on one of the banlists and Primal Seed says you can use him. Neat!

How to get "be quick" card pack?
I actually have no idea, that's the only pack with no known way to unlock it. The other 2 on that slide I didn't mention how to unlock were Insect's Nest and Spellcaster's Dance which are both unlocked through doing the Dimitri stolen deck event and the Damon Tarzan event respectively. I imagine "Be Quick" is unlocked through some sort of event but I've never been able to find it :(

@@myname6455 Wikia says you need to listen to alexis' tutorial 11 1-4. I tried and it worked, farmed enough cybersteins to have a consistent deck for quick wins
