Supes excited for this! PR4000 owner here with somewhat limited space.. And I did end up getting the OG plate loaded Lat PullDown attachment.. I think the next big upgrade will be side loaded plate stacks, one at a time.. And basically have a multi person piece of equipment
Awesome first look, COOP! Ordered the ARES for my PR5000 on June 12...perfect solution for my 220sqft basement gym....can't wait to get it.
Perfect timing man. I just got the PR4000 and this checks all the boxes
Rep marks the weight for feel, not the actual weight. Not sure why you mentioned it feeling like 45-50 pounds on each side. I believe with the weight upgrade itâll feel like 110lb each side at the 2:1 ratio.
You are correct.
Bingo. I wish all FT would mark it based on weight felt so you donât have to mental math it especially when using a GymPin with micro weights or something added.
Bingo...@rep could you add a plate load lat pull to the plate load Athena đ€
@@B20Vitb I would think you could use the banana clip that the Ares uses.
@@meisdetermined The two Ares stacks are much closer than 47", so the banana is't large enough to connect two Athenas.
Will be in the market for these eventually - it's just a matter of how the quality stacks up to the Prime Prodigy racks.
We need a full on Ares review ASAP Coop! :D
was really hoping this was a hands on video but i'll take what i can get
I have a PR4000 and this is appealing to me from a space saver and functionality stand point. I will wait for a few reviews before deciding though.
Great vid! Would love to see a comparison of the weight stack Bells lat
ow machine vs the Titan.
Coop , thanks for your review.
The Athena with the weight stacks looks like it would of been a better option for me with the Lat Low row added in the rear. It would of cost more but less involved putting together and you can bench ( incline / decline) inside the rack. It does add if I was correct hearing the guys from Rep say it adds 8 inches to the rear of the rack if you add the lat low row which isnât bad. I wish I waited for the Athena lol. Rep Fitness is on a Rollll⊠they are pulling way ahead of the competition. Forgot to add that Band pegs can be used on the Athena.
Was thinking of this but ended up getting the ft5000. Love it so far.
Like the choose your own adventure choices rep is giving
August is almost over and Coop you don't have an Ares to review. What happened to REP getting the Ares out this month. That's the review I'd like to see.
Blue background and lighting is awesome!!!
This pushes Rep that much closer to that top spot! Not perfect by any means but theyâre at least pumping out new ideas. Definitely glad I went with a Rep rack last year!
Space is the main point. I am deciding on Ares vs Athena and sectorized lat pulldown, but Ares will do both at less money. Since I would be getting a PR 5000v2 6 post rack, I don't already have any accessories, so Ares should be an easy decision for me, but I am still thinking over my options.
That shirt you are wearing is đ„ wish I knew half the stuff you wear in your videos đ
Iâve had a Pr-1100 only because I had low ceilings in my basement. Rep is making me want to sell my woodworking equipment and put my gym in the garage where Iâd have room for a bigger rack with this attachment.
Coop. Rep labels the stack according to the effective weights. They take the thinking out of the equation. The first 10lb plate feels like 5lb so they label it five.
It will work on any rack you can mount the hardware to and as long as you have the ability to cut and crimp cable which is easy peasy
Can you tell me how this will be possible on my rogue monster lite rack?
@Coop do you think only having a 47â wingspan between uprights would be a big problem? Most functional trainers have at least 60â between the uprights I believe
I think you might have missed the weight rating for the stack.
REP website..."In addition, it provides a lower price point (and smaller footprint) than the Ares Attachment, which includes a lat pulldown and low row. The Athena features a 2:1 pulley ratio, which means 20lbs feels like 10lbs. Each stack weighs 170lbs per side (feels like 85lbs) with the option to upgrade each stack to 220lbs (feels like 110lbs)".
In the video, you said it would feel like 42.5 lbs. Is that correct? just wanted to clarify if I go with this option. Thanks, Coop.
You're correct. At 5:30, a correction: "The Athena features a 2:1 pulley ratio, which means 20lbs feels like 10lbs. Each stack weighs 170lbs per side (feels like 85lbs) with the option to upgrade each stack to 220lbs (feels like 110lbs)." and in the FAQ on our page, "The integrated band pegs on the base and headplate provide the option to create added resistance with bands up to a max weight capacity of 540lbs." - repfitness.com/collections/rack-attachments
My big issue with REP is that with the Ares and Athena you have to wait months before they are shipped and are pre-sale items only. Athena will not be shipped into December and contended with the Christmas rush to ship. Ares was a pre-sale item 2 months ago and will not ship until September. Better off buying a functional trainer that is available now.
I have a REP PR-4000 and was looking forward to adding this to my rack but debating of just buying a functional trainer insteadđžđ€
Hear you on this. Pre-orders were requested by a ton of our customers who know what they want and just want to place the order at their convenience, even if they have to wait after the order. If we waited till we have stock, we would probably sell out, then more come in, sell out, etc. till we dial in how many to make. That's annoying for a lot of people. Our goal is to just have stock to buy and ship quickly eventually, but it's always hard when doing product launches to figure out exactly how many to make on the first go.
I feel like the the dual cables are too close to make any dual cable movements effective with good ROM- and for that price, might make more sense to get a functional trainer
Really? Have you never used a functional trainer at a commercial gym? They are usually about the same width. Personally, I rarely use both stacks at the same time on a functional trainer since you get better ROM and activation doing one arm crossovers (since your other hand doesn't get in the way).
Not everyone has the room for a dedicated functional trainer. I don't have have room, so it is either rack mounted or nothing.
@@markhalstead2386 I think id save the money and have nothing rather than paying all that and having something with sub par rom. at that point its just better to pick a different movement
Coop - love to see a review on the wall mounted version of this setup! Looking at it quickly it appears to be all the functionality of the Apollo half rack (assuming you buy the spotter arms, with the additional cable functionality....taking up a very minimal foot print.
Coop, you'll have to compare this to the Stray Dog Strength rack and cable systems, along with the new Bolt Fitness Warlord racks.
Coop, thanks for the review! Any experience with the York Barbell cable crossover machine, recognizing its higher price point and larger space requirements?
would love it if you could get your hands on the REP Ares early and do a review
Hi Coop, Also would impede with jammer arms as well? It would be nice if rep can come out with cable conversion or addition to the lat pulldown attachment. I have the lat pulldown attachment for my pr4000, why not just add an extension to the already lat cable attachment for those who already heave it? Thank Coop!
I actually asked this directly on Reps website because I'm looking into a PR4000 build myself and they said it would not interfere with their ISO Arms as long as they were installed below the pulley, so essentially you could use this with any lever arm system that could fit on a PR4/5000 and use the cables in conjunction with them which is bonkers đ Personally thinking about going with the Hydra Trolley Lever Arms as they say they fit on 75x75mm and traditional 3x3 racks (like their hydra rack or Rogue Monster/Monster Lite) and accept either 5/8 or 1 inch whole spacing AND have a trolley system for easily moving them up and down all for only $550 đ seems like the best cost effective set up would be a PR4000, loadable plate Athena set for each side and then those Hydra Arms and you could do virtually any workout you could think of!
How would you use the Athena as a lat pull down with the side plate loaded system ?
My wonder too. I'm leaning toward the weight stack high/low. Doing lats and low row with the Athena seems odd.
I know it's UK market but the primal strength monster series rack with weight stacks gives you 1:1 fixed at top and 2:1 on the adjustable.
I would love to see this mashup with the Rogue Rhino in the back. The Coop Squat 2.0
Gentlemen...GGR channel is back!
Just let me know if for sure it fits rogue monster rack
Rep has the most compelling racks and systems at the moment. They offer a clear coat at an affordable price and their more premium attachments like this one spark interest in many... I also like the fact that they're overbuilt
Got my Ares coming in soon đ„
Nice! Iâm about to pull the trigger on the ares for the 4000
@@Wetterwet if you donât mind spending a little extra I think itâs the best option for space and functionality, enjoy it!!
@@Fuzzynitrous for sure. Not a bad price if you are in the market for a functional trainer and lat pull/ low row. Do you have the 93â or 80â? Iâll have to go 80â, but luckily Iâm only 5â8â
@@Wetterwet same here I got the 80â but Iâm short too so shouldnât be a problem for me but weâll see
What do you think about having the weight stack Lat pull in the middle and plate loaded Athena on each side with a 4 post 16â ? I already own a 6 post but I was looking to buy a separate 4 post just for that. thoughts ?
Better than usual but my faith in this channel continues to drop. Not like the old days
What has changed in your opinion?
it would be cool if you could combo it and have both the plate stack and weight bar
Hey, coop would the rep plate loaded cable attachment work for the rogue monster 6?
At 4:23, where did you get the attachments on the right side? The footplate, the rollers, and the seat? Would save a lot of money, if I could do lat pull downs, and low rows with this thing.
Coop, can you keep us updated on compatibility with other racks? Iâve got an RM-6 and would love to add this.
I would love to hear back about this as well.
Yeah all us Rogue rack owners are SOL since Rogue has decided to stop innovating lol. REP taking the lead here, will gladly give them my money if this is compatible with the RM6
Same I just commented this too. I would love the slinger, but this almost seems like a better option
@@Adamthekat Trust me you don't want the slinger, it's garbage
@@CloaknDagger even the weight stack slinger?
Fray fitness is nice too with they're new stack on their savage series rack
When is rogue going to offer that? I already have 1 slinger with weight stack and love it.
Coop or anyone does the Athena use the same weight plates as the Ares ? Also does the Selectorized Lat Low Row use the same plates as on the Ares ? Thank you .
Make it in America đșđžđđŒ
People won't like the 20-30% price increase.
So if your don't already have a rack and you already planned on getting a 5000 anyway do you just get this instead and just pay the extra to get this flexibly? If so what's the best option... 6 post plate loaded and add this?
How would you go about getting your plates stored on the rack with the athena plate loaded option? Would you just get two more uprights and 4 crossmembers and add another 16" carriage behind where the athenas are ?
Review the Bodycraft RFT Pro Power Rack / Functional Trainer
Review the Fray Fitness fictional trainer they just came out with. Full stacks, 1:1, rack with most options for squat, bench, etc. If you buy attachments.
Seems like a great option if you can fit the 94", which my basement cannot sadly...
đ„đ„
Not sure if anyone at GGR will read this because itâs been over a week but the plastic wheels on the functional trainer are better for the cable sheathing but REP probably went with the aluminum because they know people like shiny stuff and think if itâs aluminum âit must be more durableâ.
I have a 6-post Monster rack from Rogue with a Rhino in the back part. I'm tempted to get a pair of Rep uprights and a set of 16" Rep crossmembers to make an 8-post rack, and then put the weight stack version of the Athena within that 16" space in the front of the rack. Only issue I can see is that I think Rep's hole spacing is 50 mm instead of 2 inches, so it's possible that the holes on the Rep uprights for the crossmembers might not be perfectly aligned with the holes on the Rogue uprights.
Sell your Monster and buy Rep.
@@avinashtyagi2 100%
@@avinashtyagi2 Eh, at this point I have so many Rogue accessories integrated into my rack, selling it and re-doing it with a Rep rack isn't really feasible.
The holes of the bottom crossmembers from Rogue are oblong shaped, so hopefully there will be enough play to make it compatible with reps uprights.
I say âhopefullyâ because I ordered some rep uprights for my rogue rack (needed 80 inches instead of 90 to fit under my heating ducts), but did not receive them to test my theory as of yet.
In theory, if you order 4 bottom crossmembers it should be compatible.
@@roz77394 Aren't most Rogue Accessories compatible with Rep racks?
I would like you to review the Bodycraft rft functional trainer. There are not many real reviews on CZcams.
Tried to place an Order for Athena + Rack. Problem is they either don't have the right color for the Uprights, Or for the Crossmembers. I wanted White Uprights and Black crossmembers, but don't have the right combination available.
I have a huge problem with one thing..
The Rep FT is NOT a low row or a Lat pull.. you CAN attempt to do those exercises on it but it just isnât convenient or optimal. I bought the rep ARES for that one major reason, It gives you a functional trainer AND a low row with a foot plate. AND a lat pull, which you can buy leg rollers to mount on your rack and actually have an optimal seating arrangement. You can also do belt squats from the rack, so many options. The price they have for both the athena AND the FT, are just kind of not even worth it when you have the option to get the Ares. Think about it.. Even if you bought the FT and were like âOh I want a separate machine for cablesâ, you still wonât have a lat pull or a low row. And for me those two exercises are MAJOR when it comes to training.
This is nice but I got the Omni. Looking at the Selectorized Lat Pulldown & Low Row is very desirable.
Same here. I got a great deal on a used omni, but now I'm seeing these new attachments that won't fit. Hopefully they'll come out with some sort of adapter to accommodate the omni. Edit: yeah I checked how it mounts and the Athena needs to sit directly on the floor, under the crossmembers. It won't work with thr feet of the omni.
@@turtlepowersf Omni is based off the 5000 series so its already fits. Main difference is the Omni has the extended leg pegs for more stability.
@@sarek8472 I'm pretty sure it does not fit. I may be thinking of the Ares, though. It's different at the bottom because the omni has feet instead of low mounted crossmembers like the pr5000. Maybe it just requires the extra crossmember, but I do remember reading on the REP site about one of these pr5000 attachments not being compatible with the omni.
fray fitness just released something similar for rack and functional trainer for around $2400.
Yeah, Iâd love to see a comparison with the Fray Fitness version.
If they had a shorter version I'd be all over it.
If this was 1:1 ratio Iâm sold hopefully they make a conversion
I want to know if the effective functionality is significantly different on these rack mounted options compared to the standard functional trainers. It looks like the uprights on a standard functional trainer are farther apart than the uprights of the typical rack. That means the angle of cable travel is going to be different for some movements. Is that difference good, bad, irrelevant? Think about doing flys. In a real ft, I think the angle is more lateral from out to in, because of the width between uprights. With a rack, the angle of travel is much more out than in because of the reduced distance between uprights and the need for you to stand farther away from the rack to get the amount of space needed to do the movement. So again, is that good, bad, or irrelevant?
I think irrelevant if a person has enough space in front of their rack.
Will this work with w Rogue RML690?
Id like to see what id take to put this system in a monster lite r6.
Man , i like your greek pronunciation.
@garage gym reviews - would be great to get more of a compare / contrast between Ares and Athena from Rep. Have watched your video a few times and struggled to follow along with all the comparisons you were making...
If the Ares can fit on my Rogue rack it's an instant buy
Not without significant mods it wonât
@@BrandonSchwartz1 well I'm not buying a completely new track for this then lol
Same but it doesnât fit. It needs the base stabilizer that only fits 47â racks. Rogue is 49â
@@Sam-st5wj better off selling the rogue rack⊠rep is changing the game with these options
@@danc4454 You're probably right. Their attachment game and non-US made products is the only mental hurdle I need to get over
Coop is the most in-shape,out of shape guy Iâve seen
This would be nice on my 5000 but Im not sure I can justify the price to myself. I already have almost $3K in just the rack setup
Can I do lat pull downs with this?
Do one on VALOR FITNESS POWER RACKS
Has anybody received the Rep Fitness Ares yet?? Come on Coop. Letâs see it.
Stacks are so convenient. Pull the pin and change your weight. Simple, convenient, fast and accurate. If you can add a stack, then I'd do it. Then you have the best of both worlds.
What to get for Rogue monster lite? Specs?
Coop, really liking the scruff lately, much better than the clean shaven.
The Ares is def the ticket, buy once cry once right lol
Just use 2 spotter arms attached sideways on your rack, put some bandpegs and bands on and you'll have a nice, wide 'functional' trainer. You can also attach some cheap pulleys instead of bands.
This REP pulley system is not wide enough imo.
Why isnât Rogue trying to innovate like this?? I have a 108â Monster and the attachments and options are incredibly limited. I would LOVE to have a Rogue option with a similar simple bolt on design like this Rep.
Well even though you're reviewing from a TV screen, It's still a review. I'd rather have this than whatever that last video was.
I just want the Ares to fit a rogue monster.
Excuse me. 3 months ago I commented saying can I please get a FORCE USA G20 REVIEW!!!! since then the price of them has sky rocketed.. i'd really appreciate a freakin' review before I have to take out a second freakin' mortgage just to get one.. please..
Thatâs a price if you already have the 16inch extension on your rack. You have to add those posts and cross members to the cost if you donât have them đŁđ”âđ«đ”âđ«đ”âđ«
I think the "Best option" is for me to win the lottery so I can afford some of this stuff!
Nice. But like everything Rep sells half the parts will be out permanently of stock.
Every once in a while I like to try to build a rack on their site. They have never had all the pieces I wanted in stock. From the lat attachment to safeties, there's always something important that's unavailable.
Do they assemble too?
Highly recommend the Bells of Steel Functional Trainer. Great price and feels great

Do a POWERTEC LEVERGYM REVIEW
If you're looking to put this on a non-rep rack keep in mind the guide rails and just the cables have to be factored too.
The prime prodigy rack is 2:1 to 4:1 not 1:1
I wish they made a plate loaded version of the ares.
Plate loaded Prime Prodigy can switch between 2:1 and 1:1. Selectorized Prime, which I own, is 2:1 for the moveable trolleys and 1:1 for the high pulleys. It can also be ordered 4:1 and 2:1 instead.
The prime single stack is 1:1 at the top pully and 2:1 or 4:1 (selected when ordering) on the movable pulley.
The fact thatâs itâs 2:1 ratio means itâs a no go for me
I think a-Sam-ble needs to put some cross supports on your table there. That water bottle is looking pretty shaky
Why does it cost nearly as much as a standalone functional trainer? Given the components I don't see where the cost is justified.
Am I the only one wishing for a plate-loaded version of the Ares?
That is what I am waiting for. They said they would make one.
Why ? Stack is so much easier to use. Switch weight faster between sets. Waste less energy. Older I get less I want to change plates. Especially bending. Free weights for main power moments after that I'll use cables and weight stacks for accessories exercises. Idk
@@carlstair4863 less hassle in case you have to move or reorganize the gym. And also itâs a bit cheaper
Obviously plate stack is the nicest and easiest but I think it's a waste of money If I already have tons of weight and can just throw them on, it's more work but I am working out not trying to take a shortcut.
Cables arenât far enough apart for flys
Can you drop a rhino in there?
Your math is wrong. Regular stack feels like 85lbs each side and upgraded feels like 110 each side.
Donât understand whatâs taking them so long. I guess parent issues. The German company ATX has this option with both plate and stack (125kg 1:1) since 2016.
I don't think Athena is compatible with any of their center mount lat pull options. The center mount lat pull requires a rear cross brace that will interfere with the weight stack. If you want both the center lat pull and the functional trainer you are forced into Ares.
It is but requires an upgrade to the rear stabilizer for the lat pulldown. From Repâs FAQ:
âYes, but only if you purchase the Rear Base Stabilizer 2.0. The new RBS 2.0 mounts to the sides of the uprights instead of the rear. This allows the RBS 2.0 to not interfere with the stack or carriage that sits inside the 16" crossmembers. The RBS 2.0 also allows you to mount your safeties at a lower position.â
Honestly, I miss the good old fashioned reviews of barbells and plates.
I think fray fitness combo rack much more better than this Athena
Boom goes the dynamite
.
plate loading defeats the point of these ,stack is way better for instant weight change for drop sets
Coop has to be trolling us. Everyone knows how to pronounce the Greek Gods and Goddesses.
