  • The Third Descender met their untimely demise at the hands of the First and Second Descenders, who needed to create the gnoses to prevent the Primordial One's order from collapsing. But who is the Third? What was their story and how did it end like this?
But most importantly, why are they so similar to the traveler? One can only wonder if the two are related. Perhaps they are even twins...

Hello everyone! Tragedy has struck! I accidentally recorded the voiceover in mono instead of stereo, so if you are using earbuds/headphones you will only be able to hear my voice on one side. Unfortunately there is no fix for this, other than remaking the entire thing. I know it's really annoying, I'm so sorry about it 🙏! I hope it's still watchable!

You can fix it in Premiere by going to the audio track in the project tab, right click - modify - audio channels, then change - 'clip channel format' to stereo and check the box for 'R'.

In DaVinci Resolve right click on the audio file, select "Clip Attributes" and in the Audio menu switch to "Stereo" and add the mono channel to both left and right. (I think the mono channel is titled "Track 1" or something I can't recall but I did have this issue once before and this is what helped)

This theory is absolutely plausible, it fits into some of mine a bit too well :') I'm convinced that either the Traveler, Paimon, or the sibling is going to die in the end, and of the three, the sibling is the most likely to me. I was actually originally very excited about specifically xianyun and yoimiya's first and second story quest respectively, because unlike many stories, they don't say that "eventually you have to wake up to reality", but rather "your dreams can become/be your reality". I actually really liked that, but now I realize that might be the dream trying to keep the Traveler there

Twins arrive after new Mondstadt city is built 2600 years ago, which is plenty of time after the Archon war began.

    • @BluesLoreCrumbs
      @BluesLoreCrumbs  Před měsícem +10

While it's true we see the meteors fly over the city, I personally put little to no stock on that cutscene for a very simple reason: it's conjecture. The first thing the traveler experienced in Teyvat was the cataclysm, which means that they have no memory of their arrival. They might even have already been asleep by then. Besides, we see two meteors getting very close to the ground, so Aether and Lumine would have crashed in close proximity to one another. That's not a likely scenario due to the twin not waking up the traveler; the legend behind the Starfell lake also suggests that it was a single shooting star that made the crater.
Talking about the crater, can you picture the damage inflicted by a meteor big enough to house a person crashing full force into the ground? I doubt the people of Mondstadt would not have felt it if the city was already where it currently is. In that case, I feel like we would have something more solid regarding the creation of the lake than a simple legend.
And then there is the opening cutscene of the beta version. While not cannon it still gives us some insight into what the writers were orginally planning. It tells us that the traveler "awakens to the bitter cold". We know that Mondstadt was covered in ice during the archon war and perhaps before that, but present day Mondsatdt, with the exception of Dragonspine, is much warmer, with no ice in sight. All of this leads me to believe that the twins truly did arrive before the archon war, whether or not the twin is the Third Descender.
The meteors in the cutscene are likely nothing more than the traveler trying to piece everything together after waking up for the second time. They have no idea of how much time has passed, so upon seeing Mondstadt it would be normal for them to assume that the city was already there when they arrived.

    • @davidjohnson8273
      @davidjohnson8273 Před měsícem +2

      > That's not a likely scenario due to the twin not waking up the traveler
That mystery is independent of any theory of them initially being separated when they land, because even after, let's say, years of hunting for the Traveler's meteor and having it dragged to Khaenri'ah, the Sibling still chooses to NOT awake the Traveler. So whatever the reason for that it is not altered by whether or not the two meteorites came down in the same spot initially.
      > can you picture the damage inflicted by a meteor big enough to house a person crashing full force into the ground?
We're told two moons blow up and fall to Teyvat and that should have liquified the entire mantle. Perhaps we don't need to get quite so realistic? This is a magical world where rocks are often seen floating in mid air, defying gravity. Besides which why would you think the meteorites came crashing down? They look like they were moving pretty slowly and in a controlled manner, almost horizontally in the cutscene. They are a space ship not an actual hunk of rock. The better question might be why do they crash at all? Perhaps the Traveler's meteorite has a minor malfunction which causes it to crash at the last moment, separating the two landing sites and accounting for why the Sibling can't wake the Traveler up for a while? Who knows. But it's certainly not hard to invent scenarios that explain it all. The plot requires some sort of difference between the two and a minor malfunction would work just fine since it's an arbitrary choice between the two Twins.
      > "awakens to the bitter cold"
But even in the beta they are not in Teyvat at that point but up in the sky in the firmament city. Not unreasonable to say being in the high atmosphere is cold. I suspect even in the beta they planed for the Traveler to be captured in that firmament city and they escape once the power of the Sustainer weakens sufficiently for the prison they are in to lose power and thus they escape only after the delay of 500 years. In the 2nd anniversary web event the Traveler is drawn walking along in the firmament city after they escape and then they have to jump / fly / float down from it to reach Teyvat below. So it's confirmed they were not in Teyvat for those 500 years.
      > The meteors in the cutscene are likely nothing more than the traveler trying to piece everything together
It's not a bad explanation because the context is Traveler telling Paimon a story (or actually the other way around I suppose) and the cutscene could be interpreted as Paimon's imagination of what happened that she relates. But it does leave the name and archive description of Starfell lake hanging. But I suppose those legends could as easily be explained by an event 7000 years ago as one 2600 years ago or 600 years ago.
I still don't like a huge amount of time ago because of Clothar's remarks to Sibling. "You were supposed to be...." it feels like Sibling arrived in Clothar's life time. It doesn't feel like Clothar is talking to a god-like being that was around for thousands of years before he was even born and might have even founded Khaenri'ah itself or something crazy. Also it feels like he wouldn't blame Sibling for precipitating events if Sibling had been doing their thing for thousands and thousands of years before Clothar was even born. Again it would hardly be possible for Clothar to pretend not to recognize this god-like being that had led his nation for thousands of years. He has a lot of respect for the Sibling but he's also sort of like well I didn't rub shoulders with the royal family crowd even though I was a pureblood noble it was from a minor family. Whatever thing the Sibling was doing for Khaenri'ah it feels like it wasn't going on for thousands of years or how is it anything to do with causing a Cataclysm? If it was going to go bad it would have gone bad thousands of years ago.
We now know that Khaenri'ah was always on the lookout for descenders and outlanders. Even if sibling wasn't a descender at that time (and likely they were, only to sacrifice this status later on for reasons unknown as yet) it's easy to see them being given a high honor or title like "Prince", just as the Traveler is by many nations. So there's no need on that account to require that Sibling was around for huge amounts of time before Khaenri'ah accepted and trusted them.

I still highly doubt that the abyss twin is third descender.
Firstly, twins definitely arrived after archon war as their meteors were shown flying over Mond, over Venti’s statue. And while time travel isn’t impossible, it’s seems unlikely - there’s no reason to complicate timeline like this AND we haven’t seen time alterations of that kind (sending a sentient being back to the past, physically) so far.
Also, there’s a major correction, not really related to validity of the theory, but about the creation of gnoses - gnoses were made by the primordial one and “the one who came after”, said “one who came after” might very well be NOT second descender/second throne, it might’ve been not descender at all.

You are totally right! I toyed around with the idea that the Third might have willingly sacrificed themselves for a while because of the wording, but that seems unlikely since gnoses are considered objects of misfortune. The problem with calling them "one who came after" is that that's the terminology usually used for descenders: First Who Came, Second Who Came. In which case it seems more likely that the One Who Came After is the Second. But this person might even be an outlander who does not qualify as a descender for all we know, this "title" may simply imply that they came to Teyvat from beyond the sea of stars.

So that Canned Knowledge Capsule containing concentrated combat experience of thousands of battles was just a drop in a bucket? Was they actually one of the legendary warriors of history? Or multiple legendary warriors of history, from Imunlaukr to Bloodstained Knight?
If the Traveler is not from outside of Teyvat, why can they wield multiple elements? That is rare even among the gods (and when gods do it, it's because they are a god of some combination concept, like North Wind for Andrius the Wolfinator), while the Traveler already has 5 elements, and is likely to soon get the remaining 2.

She can't be the 3rd Descender, because she was never a Descender, only Aether is.
As far as I see, the timeline goes like this: the twins get summoned by Khaenri'ah, spend some time there, and then either Aether refused to help them overthrow Celestia so they left, or they tried to solve things peacefully but instead got attacked by the Sustainer who imprisoned them (most likely in Celestia). Not long after this the Cataclysm happened and somehow Lumine got freed only to find Khaenri'ah destroyed, then something happened to her and she joined the Abyss Order. Then 500 years later Aether gets freed and starts roaming the beaches of Tyevat, fishing for Paimons.
Also, clearly the twins don't age at a normal rate, they aren't humans. And I'm pretty sure that Lumine got the "title" of Princess of Khaenri'ah after the Cataclism, when there was no one left to lead the remnant Khaenri'ahns.

I need to remind you that we *don't know* that the Second Descender helped the First.
The text that makes everybody think this is the following line: "To continue to subdue and control the resentments and loathing of the world, the usurper and one who came after created the Gnoses together."
In the original Chinese text, the phrase "one who came after" is "another latecomer."
We have absolutely zero confirmation that this latecomer is another Descender. And it would be really weird for the very being that Usurper warred with to simply be remarked upon as "another latecomer" would it not?
And that's without getting into the whole word choice of a vague "one" without necessarily meaning the *NEXT* one. I personally think either a non-Descender outlander helped the First Descender accomplish this, or the Third Descender gave themself up in sacrifice.
I still believe that either Deshret was the Third Descender... or Dainslef.
In Deshret's case, think about it - why he was he simply OFFERED a Gnosis? No warring required? Perhaps fragments of his very being were used to make them! But... he decided to go down the path of forbidden knowledge instead, for whatever reason.
In Dainslef's case, the memory loss makes me wonder if fragments of his very being are missing entirely - and we do see that he seems to wield an unknown power that is NOT one of the seven elements we know.

while your point about the vagueness of the text is correct, it could also be that Nibelung was counted as the Second when he launched his counterattack on the Usurper(P.O.) that caused Enkanomiya to fall down, and since he was killed couldn't help with making the Gnoses. The Third could just have given up their life and body to help the Primordial One.
      - Deshret: Mostly because he was already the most powerful god in Sumeru and was leading a big civilization anyway, AND he was friends with the other major deities (Nabu Malikata and Rukkha) so there wasn't any way war would break out back then. In other words, they wanted to speed up the process for the Dendro Gnosis.
      - Dainsleif: his unknown power is most likely some sort of Abyss-related power that stems from his corruption. Since he IS an actual biological Khaenri'ahn (which we can tell from his pupils) I don't think it's likely he could be a Descender.

I firmly believe that people who latch onto the idea that Nibelung became a Descender is just copium. I think he *FOUND* a Descender and came back, much as Khaen'riah tried to do with our Traveler twins.
I also firmly believe that all pure-blooded Khaen'riahns are humans from other worlds, not Teyvat natives.

Our sibling can't be the 3rd descender who died and their remains made the gnosise. in the game's intro cut seen we see the siblings passing by venties statue . so before our sibling fought the unknown god who you assume killed them, archons already existed meaning 3rd defender was already dead in order to create the gnosis. therefore our sibling is definitely not the 3rd descender

You gotta remember back in chapter 1 act 4 she said this czcams.com/video/xcIBDhZkVQQ/video.html so I think this theory is this disproven.
But on the other side of the fence my guess is that abyss order are aware of the Fatui actions they might need it to open a wormhole to the home of heavenly principals but this might also get attention to abyss order lead by the abyss princess bc after aether almost kills lumine shes badly wonded but still alive we dont here from her for awhile until the time we to shenaya this happens czcams.com/video/zTmTmSS9Pr8/video.htmlsi=s8eGgNyqdTLKVWIY
Abyss princess had become the alpha abyss
A large snake like creature that is twice the size of beisht and cause havoc across sheznaya and have all the gnosis have gathered and abyss order are in full force and brought a massive army to teyvat and alpha abyss is powering the wormhole to bring in something is none other than herrscher of the end from ggz and brings in a massive warship to help abyss order restoration of khaneri'ah.

I know the event with the Arataki gang just started a few days ago, after this video landed so this information was not known. In a dialogue with one of the npcs in Inazuma ( the girl at the general store), when you are requested to sing the intro song that we all know since is when we enter game, the npc mentions that she heard this 20-30 years ago from a boy/girl depending on the MC you are using. This leads me to believe that the sibling finished the journey not that long before us, but I DO NOT KNOW IF THIS SHOULD BE CONSIDERED CANON since is presented in a temporary even if previous events had canon information.

I find this theory very interesting, especially for the part where you mention that the goddess of time could be involved, since it reminds me a lot of the phrase that the evil twin says at the end of the quest of We Will Be Reunited. where it says that they have always had all the time.
As well as the fact that the traveler himself, after Sumeru's AQ and Nahida's words, thinks that perhaps there is something wrong with his memories.

  • @AruLily

What if the other twin is actually born from Filth like Hanachirusato. Who inherited the memory of the other twin. This new twin born from the filth of the abyss becomes the princess/prince of the abyss. Since Hanachirusato was able to inherit the memories of Kistune Saiguu because the “Dark Will” agreed to her request. What if the “Dark Will” that devoured the Kistune Saiguu is actually the sinner whose voice we heard in Caribert. The other twin’s memories were strong enough to keep their form and also gained the power of the abyss. Since the new twin is born from the filth in Teyvat, Irminsul recognises the new twin as part of this world. Since technically beings born from this “Dark will” is not the same person. This new twin born from the “Dark will” saw it as its master. Believe itself as princess/prince of abyss. Which we can refer to the battle pass story.

I think that the twin might be from teyvat because the star in which they were born was of teyvat stars. I mean the twins don’t actually look like twins to me, aether is more tan and has a more a darker blonde lumine has a lighter blonde and a lighter skin tone. The only thing that looks alike is their eyes, which it would make sense they’re the same. Their eyes are likely what symbolizes the fact they were born from stars.
So basically my theory is that the abyss twin was born from teyvats stars and the traveler was not. They somehow met on their world traveling journey and then came to teyvat and the abyss twin ended up in kheanriah and became the prince/princess and so on

I dont exactly believe that the Twin is the third Descender but I do believe that the twin we have met isn't the travelers sibling. As the twin we have met belongs to 'this world' according to Nahida.
The 3rd Descender would have had to been around before the Arcon war as it was the battle for the 7 'thrones' and those that got them were given the gnosis.
The twins landed over mond where Venti's statue was which wouldnt have been possible if they landed before the Arcon war.
So while I still believe the twin is not the travelers sibling. I dont believe there is enough evidence to place them somewhere long before they even got stranded on Tavet.

  • @bluestrider2562
    @bluestrider2562 Před 17 dny +1

So I don't think the Abyss Sibling is dead. I think if anything the Traveler died! Dun dun dun!!! Really though, I do think it's possible the Traveler has already died if they are the 3rd Descender. The thing is death isn't the same thing to everything. First and foremost, people need to remember the Twins, as far as we know, are NOT human. At least as we know them to be. They might be some higher variant of human; such as a High Human. But until its confirmed, they are alien space travelers.
That out of the way. We know death isn't the end for higher beings. Nahida and Guaba (plus the newest adeptus in 4.4) don't just automatically die. They can reincarnate themselves by going into slumber. Nibelung is another figure; along with all the dragons, whom all have a similar capability. Another strong example is Chi, from Quince Village, to this day you can go into that hidden cave by the fatui and see Chi's essence still burning in captivity and he's been "dead" for thousands of years.
So if the Traveler is indeed the Third Descender; the 1st and 2nd essentially killed them and left them for dead. Either Istaroth rescued them and transplanted them into the future. Or over time the Traveler reconstitution their body. This could help explain part of the reason the Abyss Sibling is so decided to fight Fate, along with all the other tragedies they have witnessed. I know I'd be supremely pissed if someone hurt my brother.
Whether Gods, cultivators or other higher beings, death isn't to them what it is to normal humans. As long as their concept endures then they reconstitute with time. And the Twins have always had more than enough of time. It also makes sense if the Traveler is the 3rd Descender because of the Gnosis. They would act as phylacteries(Voldemort's horcruxes) in a sense. As long as they continue to exist, then the conceptional power of the 3rd Descenders does too; thus they are still alive somewhere.
