Nf3 is a gm move, only gm's can hop their knights all the way across the board from b8 to f3 in one move. That's the gm secret

Anyone else notice fast these 1500's and 1600's play? I recently picked up chess again on chess.com on a new account and it was a real struggle in the beginning because I was always behind on the clock against them whenever I started thinking about my moves, and like Aman I was beating them in position but because I lack the premove technique I lose on time (I have no idea how Aman does that multiple premove thing). In that elo it feels like the majority of them are just trying to flag opponent instead of playing good moves. I've decided to settle for playing basically on intuition until I win something and then slow down, which is working as I'm finally past that elo at 1850 and hopefully will be past 2000 again soon.

True, it is a matter of taste, even if there is good taste and bad taste...
Now, as you suggest, I am certainly not as "great" as I like to think I am... The difference is that _I know it_ , and that I do not wake up every morning, repeating "I'm the best" in front of the mirror...
If any guy recognizes himself by this, it would be pure coincidence only, of course...

c3 is literally the only opening i play as white and everyone always says it's terrible (might be) so kinda refreshing to see a GM play it. thanks for showing some lines

the engine says it goes from small + to 0, but it seems to take my opponent out of their prep, and I get d4 for free

@@ykl1277 yeah that seems to be my ideas. Also lots of attacking opportunities if they don't play perfect and in my elo area it seems players are much better at attacking than defending so getting them on the backfoot is ideal

Lesson learned for all lower rated players in the opening: Don't fuck up because you think "you've seen something no one else has ever seen before." Trust me, just play normal moves. When you have the GM title you can start to fuck around. If ever.

but the people you play against should be around your level. Low rated players aren't going to be playing people who will easily punish them normally.

And if you want to hate chess, try 1 week play against a top engine. The frustration is inimitable.
