      You have spent a year defending Kaepernick's right to kneel. Which is fine. But some people refuse to take part in your protest and they're all of a sudden the enemy. How about everybody does what they want and we get along afterward? Too hard.

    You know what is absolutely absurd about this is when I went to games before the whole Take-A-Knee era I saw so many people at the concession stands, sipping beers, sitting, walking, chewing bubble gum, talking, laughing... and never gave a damn. As a black disabled veteran I defended their right to do whatever they wanted to do... to care or not to care.
    Too many people in this nation just want controversy IMO. I've been all over the country, seen rich, poor and in between and all most care about is themselves... even at the expense of their own families in some cases.
    Wake up America, what happens to your neighbor can happen to you.

    • @jakemiller270
      @jakemiller270 Před 6 lety +3

      I feel that is the case for some people but not all. I respect and support the players using their platform to strengthen the outreach of a message as long as it's peaceful (which it has been to date). The issue imo is to some they just don't want to lose sports as an escape to avoid politics and societal issues and will get used to it and come around being inevitable and continue watching and accept the protest. I agree some people don't want change though and those who feel that way are wrong in my eyes.

YOU on the media are really pushing the narrative that this is white against blacks. Just stop. I'm a Hispanic woman with black children and I've been side-eyed by all races including my own. I still own my home and my vehicles, travel, and work for meager wages compared to all athletes, Hollywood, and media elites....where is the social equality in that? Do injustices happen in America? Yes. However, a lot people are uneducated about these shootings. This isn’t a black or white issue, this a mental issue. A lot of people fail to realize some cops are abusing their power because they can get away with it. Also, look the physical shape at some these cops. Physical fitness plays a big role in this as well. Police need more exercise and training (jiu jitsu or other MMA).

    it's unfortunate, but there should have been additional instruction given. something like: if you are between people who don't want to link arms, then just fold your arms across your chest

    I feel as a black person in America, if you are looking for something it will be there. I personally have never been harassed by a policemen and I lived in Nebraska for two years. Prior to that was in the military in the Carolina's and Colorado and grew up in California till I was 24. If you obey the law you will have no issues. I was pulled over in Nebraska going 90mph in a 70 mile zone one day. The trooper asked if everything was ok and I replied yes and he politely gave a warning after checking my registration and licence. Prior to that I had a traffic light violation of which I paid my fine and moved on. In all of these situations I am not looking to be offended or wanting something to happen to be the subject of ridicule and sympathy. Yes some bad happened to African American's in the past but its time to move ahead and forget the past. This country belongs to all of us. We all have a right to be here. If you want respect then act like it. Dress for success, show up to work on time, pay your bills, use financial aid or the military to get through school. Its all your option.

We don’t dominate industries or lifestyles that white ppl are interested in. Why would they care about police brutality if it has nothing to do with them?

    I am white but I care about ALL people. I hate that anyone has been treated unfairly. The idea that someone could be stopped, beat up, or killed by a police officer just because of their race makes me sick to my stomach. If I knew of a way to change it I certainly would. I thought the standing and locking arms together was a reasonable thing for the NFL players to do. I think that kneeling during the anthem has been detrimental to the cause of justice and fair treatment for all. If you are looking to gain support for this cause, how does it help to do something that angers and pushes away a huge portion of the country? That's what the kneeling has done.

      It doesn't matter, Jon. Many methods of protests have been tried. ALL have been subjected to scrutiny. Even MLK was labeled a radical. Shannon was correct. They simple don't give a damn.

      the anger comes from the people. it comes from their own discomfort. their discomfort stems from the fact that they *know* they value their enjoyment of the sport of football and the NFL more than they do a frank discussion about police brutality.
      "you choose to let your discomfort manifest into anger, instead of understanding"
