  • In an interview with Yahoo Finance, Drew Brees said he could quote, “never agree with anybody disrespecting the flag of the United States of America.” Brees said he stands with his teammates for their fight for equality but also that he stands with family members who have served in the military. Brees was heavily criticized by many athletes including teammates Michael Thomas and Malcolm Jenkins. Hear what Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe have to say about Brees' comments.

      @backseatdriver9576 Před 4 lety +3

      It's the same position. This is not a discussion. It's stating the same position twice. What's gross about this is that you vilify a man for being proud of what his family contributed to his family, community and country because you don't or haven't had the same experience. That's sick. If you can't respect the other man's opinion and beliefs why should he respect yours?
      In regards to the flag, you still miss the point. The flag is about unity. It's about COMING together. It's a representation of everyone, good and bad, that helped shape who we are and what we represent. That's not what's happening. Black america spits on the graves of everyone by making this entirely about them. It's not. It's about all of us. Police brutality...yeah, more whites than blacks die unarmed from police. They standing up for them? No. That in itself is racist and it also makes it no longer about police brutality. This is about equality, they'll say. Fine. Then only 16% of the players can be black. As a black person, you can no longer use the N word because white people can't say it with equal measure and meaning. This is how you know, this isn't about equality, it's about identity politics and power. It's disgusting. Know this...when you ask for special considerations, it's because you cannot overcome any other way. You want change? Organize as a race and do what jewish people have done throughout time when they've been enslaved and nearly wiped out: organize and go into banking so you can help control the money flow; go into law so you can help shape how it affects you; go into medicine so people are thankful when you save their lives; and form groups that support each other instead of tearing each other down. This starts with having a strong family.
      And here's the final kicker if you actually want to get rid of racism once and for all: you cannot marry someone of your own race. Within two generations, there will be no black, white, asian, etc. We would be so mixed, you couldn't tell who had what blood in them. But I doubt you are serious enough about stopping racism to do that. And if you're not, then this discussion is over and you've proven my point. IF you are serious about stopping racism, reread this last paragraph.

By the way, the Civil Rights movement carried the American flag with them and proudly waved it because of the values it represents. The flag says we hold these truths to be self evident : all men are created equal. Not slavery, secession, oppression. This is why Hong Kong protestors fly it, because the flag is the ultimate symbol of freedom and equality around the world.

      Loud is not necessary powerful. Shannon is an illogical bigot who didn't make an argument as much as he made a soliloquy. His argument against Drew Brees has nothing to do with facts because Shannon Sharpe would not know a fact if it slapped him up side his big head. He is arguing from pure emotion and is not even making a case that Brees is wrong, he is making the case that Brees statement is no legitimate. That is the definition of bigotry. I would think that someone who uses the word "logic" in their sobriquet would know a walking talking logical fallacy like Shannon Sharpe when they saw one. You should probably change your screen name to something more appropriate like "OverlyemotionalX"
