  • With use, everything will wear out in time. These Maxi Trac compressors from Napa Auto Parts are no exception. These compressors are not unique to Napa. There are several iterations the world over. Kings from Supercheap Auto in Australia, Morrflate, Thors Lightning and others.
The one in this video I found on ebay. ebay.us/CdOqV6
they are available on Amazon as well.

Since parts for the Maxi Trac compressors are impossible to source through Napa I figured I'd find out if this cheap ebay compressor looked so similar I figured it would be a potential candidate for replacement parts if my compressor ever failed.
Watch the video to see if this turned out to be a viable donor.
These tire plugs have been working great on 2 tires I've installed them in. amzn.to/3CS2fyF
Thanks for watching and please consider subscribing.

I have MORRFlate's latest revision, as well as one of their pre-release test units from a couple years back which has served me very well. Their original was just like the Maxi Trac, but the new one is definitely a step up with the improved intake filters, a pressure switch, and a high quality standard air fitting.
I opened the new one up and found no metal flakes or uneven amount of grease, but I cleaned it all out and regreased with a high-temp compressor/vacuum sealing grease. The new MORRFlate has much larger ports in the head than in the old MORRFlate or in any of the compressor teardowns I've seen on CZcams, which is nice. Unfortunately it still uses the same undersized 1/8" NPT fitting in in the manifold for the hose that every other version of this compressor uses, so I drilled and tapped mine for a proper 1/4" NPT hose barb to remove that point of restriction.
These compressors are by far the best bang for the buck out there. If anyone's on the fence about getting one, just do it! But use at least a 2-tire inflation kit if not a full 4-tire kit, otherwise you're just buying more performance than your valve stems can take advantage of and you're making the compressor work hard to generate heat instead of air.

Yeah morrflate seem to have done the most to these to make them the best they can be out of the box.

Thanks for the tear down video, I was looking at this one on Amazon. I think I’ll go with the MORRFlate just for the warranty.

My Maxi Trac the relay quit after about 4 uses. I put one in like the eBay model, the first 100 amp one also went. I have a 200 amp to replace it. I did your pressure switch conversion. I also bought a MorrFlate so I could demote the Maxi to the motorhome

It's been a runner for me. I feel the pressure switch mitigates the heat issue. Along with at least a 2 tire inflation system to really make use of the cfm this thing puts out.

12:00 If you do some research on these plugs, you are supposed to use rubber glue with them.

I'm sure that would help. I've simply screwed them in without issue. I've prob installed a dozen of these and haven't had one leak or come out.

Great video! I've been seeing a lot of these compressors pop up on Amazon and eBay. Do you know if the CFM numbers that are advertised are anywhere near true?

I know this is an old video but I was curious if you found part numbers for replacements. Specifically the manifold. I have the new NAPA version of the Maxi Trac and did the pressure switch and air chuck mod and think I may have bent or stripped the threads of the manifold. So I may need to replace it. I don't want to buy a new compressor since this one was the same price as the one you show in this video.

I was hoping you actually found replacement parts instead of just buying a new compressor. I'm looking for replacement "rings" for the piston. The piston to cylinder seals. ANYONE?

    • @BadlandIndustries

Nigh impossible. At the time of this video coming out the maxi trac compressors were completely out of stock and didn't seem to be coming back.

So I bought a MaxiTrac while ago and it has been stored till now. Was looking to see if any upgrades and came across your guys videos. My MaxiTrac paper says it has an in-board pressure switch? So wondering if it has one, do you have the paper it came with to see? And Dirt Lifestyle, he ditches the switchboard, and adds a relay similar to your new one you're showing.

    • @BadlandIndustries
      @BadlandIndustries  Před rokem

I have a video planned for incremental flow improvements but the previous video adding the switch has been a really popular video. Nates video was great but in typical dirt lifestyle fashion he goes over and above and knocks it out!
