That game was one of Sam Canes best in the black jersey. He carried effectively by making consistent gain-line something he’s struggled to do for a number of years, hunted effectively on defence and won some crucial turnovers when Ireland were gaining momentum. He also showed his leadership with the way he defended, he didn’t miss a tackle.
The last five minutes felt like an hour, i couldn't wait for that whistle ! Sam was phenomenal ! The forward pack has to stay the same next week they were brilliant.
Sam the Captain saved his best game until today. His very best is yet to come next week. Loved this game. Congratulations to the boys in black.

That’s the second good game I’ve seen Sam Cane play for ABs. Savea plays well every game and should be captain. Simple. Nothing against Cane . NZ rugby public are not stupid. Cane at best would be rated our fourth best 7 and better choices for captain also. Cane has never commanded his position in the team the way other good AB captains have. Rugby observers have been saying this since McCaw retired. Cane very fortunate to remain in the 33 player group let alone match 23.

As an AB Fan, I watched the game with an Irishman in a Tokyo hostel from my laptop. It was a beautiful experience because we knew it was going to be an epic game either way, and to have both of us backing our own boys being the 5th referees too 😂). Big ups Ireland, you guys are incredible and have become the best team in the world for good reason. Stoked with this result.
37 phases but the key is trust in each other. No penalties and more importantly no cards. Waited for the opportunity and turned over possession. Well done ABs. And well played Ireland. Kept me on the edge of the seat the whole game.
Ardie did turn it over earlier in the last 37 phase run BUT Barnes just let it play longer!
If you rewatch it, the work rate of the ABs to get to their feet and compete at every breakdown it sucked the tank dry for Ireland who were just looking for 1 half break but a few times some ABs came up with big hits

Well done AB's. What a performance, i'm a Bok supporter but that game easily ranks as one of my best ever. AB's and AB supporters, be very proud, you guys deserve this after ludicrously being written off by too many fools, and to do it down 2 players and against a great Irish side on such an occasion speaks volumes. This simply reaffirms my belief that AB's are ALWAYS dangerous, and i dont believe any other team can really say the same thing. Too many have disrespected this point of difference over the last 6 weeks in particular. Jordie's hold-up and the last passage of defence just 2 key examples of the heart shown. Have done Southern Hemisphere proud fellas. I did an all nighter for this and stoked with the result....but can't say i'm surprised. This makes me even more nervous for the Bok/France game though because its harder to believe the 2 big names going out in the QF's.

What a fantastic show and thank you to both teams who were so evenly matched. The phase play on both sides was a show of experience and ability and the final score could have gone either way. One the day NZ took it but Ireland were amazing so theres absolutly nothing to be sad about and there can only be one winner in the end. From a Springbok supporter.

Cane had the best game I have seen him play. In the end it is the players who win games, not the coach.
He's done this twice now too. We won against South Africa when they all doubted us a year ago. They all doubted us until we beat the best Irish team ever. Our worst team our worst coach against the best Irish team and the best Irish coach. 17 wins in a row! All blacks still won. The coaches to the players to the water boys and the physios deserve plaudits for tis amazing performance.
