@ 2:57 "Base hit.....I take it back" LOLOLOL
Yeah, that made me laugh too! 😂😂
@@rodprops He said it so casually too! 🤣🤣
They were so calm about it. 😅
@@MichaelWalker-wu2pq 🤣🤣 No Whoops or D'OH's! They just acted like it was an everyday occurrence!
I believe it was Bob Costas who was on The Mic ?!?!
The best one of these is by far Sean Casey. He has to be the only player in MLB history who has ever managed to be thrown out at first base from LEFT FIELD.
Actually, back in the 70s, I saw Steve Kemp of the Tigers throw out Paul Molitor at 1st from LF. Steve Kemp took a line drive off the shoetops, and everyone else - Molitor included - waited to see if it'd be called a catch or a trap. Kemp just fired the ball to first. It was ruled a trap, and Molitor was out.
From what I can see, it's happened a few times. Kevin Elster did it with the Dodgers against the Angels in 2000. Paul Molitor also did it while playing for the Brewers against the Tigers in 1979. The only other time and the first time it happened was in 1950 when the A’s Elmer Valo did it against the White Sox.
Did you know… a 9-3 putout has happened in a perfect game. It was Lee Richmond’s, in 1880.
Loved reading this awesome Stat! Salute 👋 ps....wondering if this was indeed the very First "Perfect Game" as well?!

@@matthicksxx Appreciate the reply! Love learning new stuff even as an Adult Kid! 42 Days till Opening Day! WOO HOO
That's news to me. Great trivia.
I saw it live it was incredible
That first throw about took the 2nd basemans life 😳
He should have worn a batting helmet.
Larry Walkwr throwin' out Tony Fernandez is no joke. It's not like Fernandez is a pitcher or DH. That's impressive.
Just shy of 250 SB as a regular middle-infielder. Tony had some hops. Larry was just that good.
Bautista threw out those two runners in back to back games too. Gotta imagine it'll be a while before we see an outfielder throw out runners at first 2 games in a row again
9-3 putouts are my most favorite thing in baseball
I was at a Dodger game when I was a kid. Sandy Koufax lined a pitch into right field. Frank Robinson fielded it on one hop and threw Koufax out at first. I'm sure better plays have been made, but they probably didn't involve two better players.
I love when they show off their cannons
Still the craziest outfield assists will always be Rick Ankiel throwing out Willy Taveras twice in the same game from center field at Coor’s Field and Bo Jackson’s assist from the warning track to home plate were the craziest outfield assists I’ve ever seen.
Do you run on an ex-pitcher in the outfield?
@@paulbrower It was either Rick Ankiel’s first or second season since switching to the outfield and maybe the secret of his cannon wasn’t know at that point and even if it was Willy Taveras was the stolen base king that year with over 60 stolen bases, so if anyone was going to beat Ankiel’s arm it would have been Taveras that year.
So happy to see Walker throwing out Fernandez. Was watching that on tv when it happened.
in softball, because im fast, i played a short right field. people think the worst player is in right so i would force them to test me, out. i always told my first basemen, great tall girl, to watch for my throw to her. righty at the plate hit one to me, one hop, threw him out. 60ft bases. awesome throw, awesome catch by her.
“I take it back”
I once did that at a Little Leaugue game 😎
one of my favorite plays in baseball
Rene Reyes did it when he was playing for the Rockies.
I was at a Dodger game when I was a kid. Sandy Koufax lined a pitch into right field. Frank Robinson fielded it on one hop and threw Koufax out at first. I'm sure better plays have been made, but they probably didn't involve two better players.
one of the craziest plays in baseball easily
not any more difficult than a throw from deep short
I ❤ Baseball ⚾🧢... Peter from Switzerland 🇨🇭
hi baseball youtube guy i hope youre having a fine week
The 2nd baseman almost got rocked on the first one 🤣
I believe Mr. Casey said a bad word when the left fielder threw him out at first.
I feel like the outfielder position is much underappreciated.
"Base hit. I take it back." LOL
Ever since I was a child in the early 1960s, I've always thought when the announcers called out "🎉Base hit!" on a ball hit to the outfield but not caught before it hit the ground, they could be a bit premature. But except for some of those now-banned shift plays in recent years, I don't think I've ever seen someone thrown out at 1st on one.
I do remember hearing one in a game on the radio once. It was a Phillies game in the mid-1990s, a weekend day game, and I believe it was against the Montreal Expos. Danny Jackson may have been on the mound for Philadelphia, and I think the Expos pitcher was the batter.
Braves triple play last season was pretty good too
Mlb the show isn’t the most realistic mlb sim until they allow these
I don't play The Show, can you really not execute a 9-3 putout? I've seen 9-3 putouts in MVP Baseball 2005 lol, crazy to me how a game that's nearly 20 years old hasn't been caught up with by modern games in some aspects
@@martelkapo lol ikr. Nah the game keeps the 1st baseman playing off the bag when they receive the throw from LF even if there’s a realistic chance of getting him. Ik i’ve had scenarios where the runner definitely would’ve been out if he was just playing on the bag it’s crazy
@@martelkapoI loved playing that game on PlayStation 2 and I would have times where I would make attempts every once in a while at putouts at first base but I did have a couple times where I was successful with throws from right field. Granted this only worked out for me against slower players (one was a really slow guy, the other had average speed) but it can be done. Other times I would just mess around to see how close I would’ve been if I took it seriously
sean casey looks like he’s running in slo-mo
This 3 minute video was better than the whole Super Bowl. Stickball is best ball. Fight me.
I wont
I won’t
No need to fight but you buggin 😂😂😂
Ball go boom
Most of the 2nd half and OT was good
I don't think I had ever seen this play happen with the Mets. Well, not when I still paid attention to them before the 1994 strike. After the strike, I didn't care any more about the game. Of course, we didn't have youtube back then, so even when it did happen, unless it made the local newscaster's highlight reel (Warner Wolf's LET'S GO TO THE VIDEOTAPE!) you probably never saw it.
one time in a church softball field this old heavyset gentleman hit a bomb all the way to the fence and was thrown out from LEFT FIELD.
Meanwhile mlb the show, the first baseman never even tries to cover 1st on those hits
only when the 2nd baseman dives for a ball and misses it. I've had one.
It's always fun watching The Mayor get recalled from left field. 😄
The way they make it look so easy you'd think this would happen more often than it does
They are the stuff
I'll be impressed when we start seeing 7-5-3 double plays.
Smothering the ball leads to good things don’t be afraid to sacrifice
now try to do this in any of the MLB the show games Impossible as the 1b always walks away from the base
Baseball, not stick ball, is the best sport
I think Roberto Clemente once threw out Willie Mays at first. Both HOFers. Mike
Announcer: and he has a base hit. Walker: u think? Just watch this
imagine you are watching on statcast or something and the message readers groundout to left field....what a wacky read that would be
2:01 I don't think I've ever seen a 7-3 putout. That's real embarrassing for the batter. 😂😂😂😂😂
I like the look on the runners faces....
We often say that the 9-3 with 13 year olds playing very shallow is the last "not real baseball" aspect of youth baseball, but yes, even in the Majors now and then!
At least one of those thrown out is a pitcher.
Playing in on a pitcher is common.
Bautista's gonna thROW HIM OUT AT FIRST!
Peak Buck Martinez right there.
Miss ichiro suzuki
What is the difference between putout and outfield assist?
Way to start the video with the baby shark himself! Gerrardo Parra!
These are impressive. I still would like to see a clean 7-3, but probably only in the minors.
It’s happened three time in MLB. Kevin Elster did it with the Dodgers against the Angels in 2000. Paul Molitor also did it while playing for the Brewers against the Tigers in 1979. The only other time and the first time it happened was in 1950 when the A’s Elmer Valo did it against the White Sox.
This is basically impossible in MLB The Show unless the 2nd baseman misses a catch or something
There was a whole Caribbean series in marlins park and not a single post from this mlb channel
They just made onw
@@theholycarp8044they must’ve saw my comment haha thanks
I swear I could throw out 60 percent of the runners on mlb the show at first lol wish u could do it
Yasiel Puig throw was missed
And how many announcers ate their humble pie? 100% They all were read-faced.
Joey Bats!!!
the announcers are calling out before the out. with as much money as mlb has you'd think they could pay for decent editing.
🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
All hit to shallow right field. It isn't much farther of a throw than a throw from behind third or deep short stop especially being one hoppers.
Bautista the 🐐
Man Larry Walker was good
Ramon!?
I remember when Al Kaline threw out Hank Aaron from right field on a 9-3 putout in an All Star game .
Kaline was reputed to have a pitcher's throwing arm.
That 9-3 putout may top mine for the caliber of players involved.
I was at a Dodger game when I was a kid. Sandy Koufax lined a pitch into right field. Frank Robinson charged it, fielded it on one hop, and threw Koufax out at first.
I don't see why the runners can't advance when the batter is thrown out at first. Or can they?
Whoa
Thats why your little league coach tells you to not watch the ball and dig, dig, every hit
"Joe West wasn't fooled."
"Routine 9 - 3 out."
They forgot Cody Bellinger's throw?
If you hit the ball and don't run to first base, then all sorts of bad things can happen.
Where s Joey Gallo ???
Hi
This is why you always hustle to first
How many Major Leaguers today always hustle to first? If it's not zero, it's very close.
Base hit.. I take that back.
Sherman Lollar
so funny whe titus gets babied
They're playing shallow
I m happy than Jose Bautista never won a World Series
barehanded catch could make this play faster; taking one step further would be a barehanded catch whist initiating the throwing motion (starting the one-two step and turning of the body before catches the ball); Of course the middle fielder needs to back up really quickly incase of a catch error
This video is way too long for Major leaguers.....how embarrassing
A lot of that is lazy runners. I see way too much of that and I don't watch baseball that often anymore.
Can't think of anything more embarassing as a balllayer
Baseball??? is this a new sport?
I have no clue whether you’re joking or european
